Re: ITT: We post examples of great footwork in gif form
You posted it in a GIF form earlier in this thread ... albeit really shitty quality.
Oh, yeah, I can do that. Can't elongate to the same extent MJ did since I can't palm the ball, but I've used that to create space before. It's best if you do that to get some space and then give a quick jab step towards the same direction you just faked in and then drive the other way. It's almost guaranteed that the defender bites on the jab step or freezes. You can also just explode in the same direction when the defender is recovering from the initial move (I do this a lot) since you have an automatic advantage.
Re: ITT: We post examples of great footwork in gif form
Epic thread! ISH redeeming itself. I have to say, Kobe's footwork is the best of this era in the 2 guard position. Wade is really up there too though.
Someone make a gif of Melo's spin move on LeBron last season.

Lol the kobe gif is not a travel.....
im pretty sure you can lift your pivot foot but it can't hit the floor again.
Looked like both feet were in the air at the same time, but its close. I respect your opinion.
you're such an hypocrite. You were the same guy calling me out on not knowing the rules and not playing basketball when i told you its a travel.

yeah, that is the rule. I lot of people usually get confused though. It sometimes even called incorrectly at lower levels of ball(I think that is why more players don't use it in the NBA, although it is normal for women's ball).

you can lift it if you jump with both feet at the same time or if your pivot foot is the last foot leaving the ground. You can't however lift up your pivot foot while you're other foot is still on the ground. I thought it was basic knowledge to everyone...

It's a really close call. Refs let that one slide sometimes. And Kobe pulls it off in a convincing way without shuffling his feet like say LeBron that makes it look legit.

Yea im not denying that. This call is rarely made because its hard to catch unless you really pay attention and most of the time Kobe pulls out that move without traveling like in his 61pts game against the Knicks.
This one however was a travel but it wasnt anything blatant

you know it's not a travel until that foot(pivot) comes down.
See Section 68 Rule 4 of the NCAA rules:
"Art. 4. After coming to a stop and establishing the pivot foot: a. The pivot foot may be lifted, but not returned to the playing court, before the ball is released on a pass or try for goal; "
Absolutely, bro

The NBA rule book also says that you can't switch pivot foot...
At the moment he lifts his pivot foot while the other foot is still on the ground, the foot that is still touching the ground becomes his pivot foot which results in a travel call

the pivot foot was never "switched." The pivot was already established and does not turn into a travel until it hits the floor. That is the rule. It has nothing to do with the other foot touching the ground.
g. If a player, with the ball in his possession, raises his pivot foot off the floor, he must pass or shoot before his pivot foot returns to the floor. If he drops the ball while in the air, he may not be the first to touch the ball.
here is the part of the nba rule book that says it.

It's amazing that people are actually arguing this. At least Samurai's contention was that both feet left the floor at the same time, but some of these dudes actually think that the pivot foot can leave the floor first.
lmao @ IGOTGAME. Learn how to play the game. :oldlol: The rule you posted is not an exhaustive explanation of every circumstance that constitutes a travel. It's a rule for ONE situation. There are many others.

Well, it is the truth. Avy bet on it?
Actually my tuition dollars were paid for based on my ability to perform moves exactly like that one. I think I know how to play the game(especially the post).
So, Month long avy bet?
