Re: ITT: We post examples of great footwork in gif form
g. If a player, with the ball in his possession, raises his pivot foot off the floor, he must pass or shoot before his pivot foot returns to the floor. If he drops the ball while in the air, he may not be the first to touch the ball.
Got this from another site
. You can spin around or "pivot" on that anchored part of your foot, but you can't slide or lift this foot unless you are passing or shooting.
Other site
The pivot foot may be lifted, but not returned to the playing court, before the ball is released on a pass or try for goal;
Kobe was shooting
i was right = D
its just a misconception people have about basketball. Your other foot does not become a pivot foot because you lifted your pivot foot, your pivot foot does not change.
if you're gonna post don't make it more than one gif at a time, do not want the page to take forever to load because of a billion gifs. basically a footwork appreciation thread.
let me start off with the master:

practiced this move all last summer with mild success.
LOL that's one of my go-to moves in the paint.
used to do this all the time and got called travel half the time.
the pivot has to leave the ground at the same time as the other foot, but sometimes u just lean up and finish with a half step up first. and even if both leave at the same time, the idiots still often whine its a travel because you left them in the dust.
LOL. Kobe doing that stuff at 19

Re: ITT: We post examples of great footwork in gif form
im gonna post that Kobe pic on other forums to get more opinions.
Anyways, in another game, this is basically the same move Kobe did:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l053a5oYxc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBt_9t57F-0&feature=related
I maintain the opinion that these aren't travels.
Re: ITT: We post examples of great footwork in gif form
Try looking at the Kobe move in your phone or anything slower than a computer. I saw it slower and it is not a travel.

you arent going to get a good answer online. For what it is worth I have talked to refs and coaches about this EXACT issue. It is NOT a travel but many people, including bball players, do not understand the rule. Women's game actually teaches that move when they show them how to do the step through.

just googled it and come across this thread discussing the use of the move in women's vs. men's bball.
Re: ITT: We post examples of great footwork in gif form
Someone post of pic of me Chandler Parsons, you know I am the GOAT SF in the paint foo
Re: ITT: We post examples of great footwork in gif form
Kobe's move was a borderline travel just like a jap-step drive from the triple threat is a borderline travel if you put the ball down too early. What I'm saying is that no one ever calls that sh*t, and OK to do. It's fine. Kobe was trying to jump off both feet at the same time but it wasn't perfect.

Shawne Williams is a bad boy. I was really impressed with his 1on1 defense against LeBron.
