He was doing it in the 2001 Finals too. He did it when he grabbed the board on the road against the Sixers and scored and ran back with a scowl to the bench.

Shouldn't we be happy to have a mega-talent like Kobe emulate the GOAT?
Kobe's game alone is enough to earn my respect. Think about how good that man is at the sport we all love. Seriously, think about it.
The league is gunna take a major hit once Kobe retires and this is coming from a fan that used to DESPISE KB24.

:oldlol: Stop! Stop! Stop! he only started doing that In 09.
As for the scowl, what I didn't understand is why he only seemed to start that in the Orlando series. It did seem like something he timed.

Now he's going with the whole "intense scowl when I make a big play" phase, which may be more annoying and fake then any of his other phases. Where was the scowl thing earlier in his career?

His scowl shit and I'm so serious at playoffs press conferences are clearly inventions of his and not his personality. You don't just start gerbil-facing more than a decade into your career act act all hard all of a sudden. Fake. Fake. Fake.
Can't wait for the damage control.

Theirs really nothing to talk about here, how this thread got 15 pages is beyond me(im adding to it tho) don't know why you guys worry about a guy who's only job is to entertain you by his amazing skills but you talk about him as if you know him? This decade is ****ed up because of all the gossip little ******* that got made.
This thread has turned ugly for those that brought up Kobe's scowl.
The most famous scowl on ISH.
Scowlnage.
Who cares if a bunch of no-life losers think Kobe's personality is contrived. He's a ****ing athlete and a great one too, which is all we (real basketball fans) care about. Hate comes from envy so it's a complement to him that so many people hate him. Clearly these people would love to be in his position....he's a millionaire who has achieved every kind of individual and team success in the NBA, who is worshiped by fans over the world, travels in a personal helicopter...and he's got a hot wife. It's not called hate, it's jealousy.
I guess that's why Magic, Jordan, and Bird got hated...Oh wait...
how will the idiots claiming kobe's scowl is new atone for their sins? are they full of it? knoe, kurosawa, as$holes...?
I'd rather watch his play and discuss his game instead of his personal life.
She feels the same way --v
I guess that's why Magic, Jordan, and Bird got hated...Oh wait...
Back then it was pretty hard to spend your entire day on a message board to spew your hatred for a player.
I guess that's why Magic, Jordan, and Bird got hated...Oh wait...
If there was this msg board back then....Jordan would be getting hated on...There's haters everywhere.
It is pretty much created but you have to look at it in his perspective.
On the floor we all know he's a competitor as all players should be. I mean yea he mimmicked Jordan back in the day but who else would you want to mimic but the GOAT? Also in the post-game interview this year he attributed 90% of his game to MJ so it's not a suprise.
Off the court towards the media at the beginning of his career he was vocal and spoke his mind a lot. I think during the period of the Kobe/Shaq duel much of the media was biased towards Kobe which stemmed a lot of the hate by people today. It's either you hate the dude completely, hate him but respect his game or love him.
I think he realized what happened and now just pretty much sticks to being conservative, working on his game and not trying to go off tangent. Yes his personality is contrived but mostly from past experiences which if you think about it then all of our personalities are contrived. Dunno what the OP is really trying to get at.
if he was contrived then why did he treat the media like shit the past post-seasons. he was surly, curt, and not very nice. wouldn't a contrived be the exact opposite of this i.e act all easy-going and try to be funny/laid-back.
