Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
Business wise it wouldn't make sense losing him for nothing. Not when it can be avoided.
Bynum has the talent and sometimes playing with other very good bigs can hurt a guy's development. Not saying he would be a top player but who knows until he is more of a focal point.
If Orlando could get Bynum back and shed Hedo's contract....it would be a great deal for them. They would get a young center with loads of potential on an expiring deal. So if he's great....they can sign him for more than anybody else...and if he's not great....they let him go.
That is an ideal trade for the Magic and one they should do. But it has to be Howard and Hedo leaving. The Magic have to find a way to get rid of Hedo's 34 million over the next 3 years in a Howard trade. So it would take the Lakers sending Odom and Bynum to the Magic for Hedo and Howard. That seems like a great trade for both teams.
As far as Paul, I don't see how the Lakers can get him. The Hornets should absolutely not trade Paul unless that trade includes Okafor. The Lakers could potentially include a 3rd or 4th team in the deal to make that happen, but I don't know who wants to take on Okafor and his 40 million over the next 3 years.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
Yeah... we will get another lockout if this goes next season

Best thing to do business wise is to replace a current star/franchise player with a young star/franchise player. The best way to do that is the draft and in particular top 3-5 picks. Now if the Lakers can get another team involved then it makes these trades far more realistic but I don't see the Lakers pieces being attractive to rebuilding teams. As for Bynum maybe I'm being to harsh on him but I don't see many teams wanting to take a risk on his knees but remaining healthy this season might do a lot to change that perspective. So I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
Imagine Lakers with Dwight, Kobe and CP3. Prime NBA all over. 2000 all over. 1996 all over. 80's Lakers all over. NBA would be... back. For me. And normal people.
Imagine how many 2002 Kings teams would form to destroy Lakers and Heat.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
so let me get something straight...
we missed a month and a half of the season for nothing?
cool.

My thoughts exactly, and I'm a laker fan
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
Any Laker fans here have any reservations about this? I'd love to get at least one of these players, but getting both...I don't know.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
The sad thing about this is if it happened Kobe would be the 3rd best player on his team now as most felt Dwight and CP3 were better than Kobe last year.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
I would do it in a heartbeat, Lakers in the last years have sucked at being Lakers. Sure they've been effective, but just blow up this odd group. Except for Bynum, they aren't doing it for me, as a visual fan of the game I like classic power teams. Classic power teams = powerful NBA. Just ignore these 200-some people on forums who are obviuosly some kind of weird sort of communists, because million of other people want a great NBA.

Dwight? Yea but Paul? Not quite. Was great in the playoffs though.

Kobe, assuming comes back healthy as reported, would be the best offensive player out of the three.
Defensively, playing alongside someone more active like Paul (as opposed to dead-weight Fisher), and the DPOY, he would be a lot more effective. He could be given the assignment to lock someone up without having to worry about the rest of the team's defense.
Re: ESPN: Lakers looking to trade for BOTH CP3 & Dwight Howard
Everything that frustrates laker fans about bynum's play arethe things dwight does best. This is a no brainer if possible.

I would rather get Dwight and not get Chris Paul. I think a Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard frontcourt would be scary.
