Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
A lot of people are ignorant in this thread. It's a chance the organization is going to take and I'm fine with it. The Cavs go out and trade for a player where they are the weakest at, at that position and people crucify them for it. I see a lot of...
"OMG Cavs got robbed, they traded 3 picks for it!"
...they act like we gave up 3 top 10 guaranteed picks for Deng. Two of them are second rounders, and the top 10 pick is a Kings pick, that of which they have to make the playoffs 2 years in a row in order for it to a be a top 10 pick in the first place, otherwise it'll basically be a second round pick.
I'm fine with the trade, the Cavs are taking a chance on fixing a glaring positional issue. At least they're not going into the draft and drafting a player at #1 when they already have a starting PF at that players spot..oh wait...
I'm fine with Deng getting $11-$13 million a season, $15 is a little high to me, but whatever. Everyone overpays in this league 90% of the time.
Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
win win for both teams.
cavs didn't give up much to get Deng, Bulls get tons of salary relief and some seconds they can package to move up in the draft with.
I'm not getting my hopes up about signing Deng long term. It's possible but i just have no clue what Grant/Deng are thinking in that regard.
Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
I wanted the nets to get deng but the cavs need to start winning games now. They might get another top 5-10 pick this year and next year they need to be a playoff team. Good move by cavs and surprised why deng felt he was worth more than 10mm per year.... Dude is always injured.
Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
Cavs should make the playoffs this year, and as long as they're not 7th or 8th seed they'll make the second round, which would be a huge win for the franchise.
Bulls, I felt, could have gotten more for Deng. I'm pretty disappointed in our "haul". The first round picks are not likely to be very good ones, but I actually expect the Bulls to use them as assets in a future trade as opposed to actually drafting with them. Since the Bulls are clearly looking towards the future, now, perhaps they can find someone to take Boozer off our hands?
The real loser in this is me. I bought tickets to the Wizards/Bulls game in a couple weeks, thinking I'd see Rose vs. Wall, Beal vs Butler, two exciting teams in the East... instead, it will be the Wizards just laying the smack down on Augustin, Butler, and Noah.
Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
Deng will get a big contract this year, say 4 years, 56 million.
The Cavs have no choice, since they gave up so much to get him.
Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
If Bulls amnesty Boozer will they have cap to sign Melo in the offseason?

All star.
Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
Miami got and got themselves some morals and are not going after Bynum after going after troubled guys like Beasley and Andersen. Instead they are don't want to cut Mason JR because he's a good dude and have put their hopes on the worst knees in sports of history, Oden. Indiana will shit on them.
Clippers are cutting Stephen Jackson and unless they got their eyes on Turkododo I'm pretty sure they are making a spot for Bynum.
Miami would be fools to not at least sign him Up.. He fills a big need against indy for one.
Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
I'm not so sure the Cavs should waste money resigning him, while he's a good player he's going into his 30's and the amount of mins he's played he's probably a lot older body wise and he will break down sooner rather than later.
If your going to spend upwards of 12+million than do it on someone young with potential, maybe try get Greg Monroe in the offseason, trade for Larry Sanders or something like that.

yeah $14mill long deal sounds about right to keep him.
Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
Nets should try and get Bynum to make up for Lopez's injury. Not that Bynum is a healthy player, but it's better than nothing.
Re: TRADE: Cavs trade Andrew Bynum, picks to Bulls for Luol Deng
Great trade for the Bulls which allows them to go in full tank mode.
Grab a top notch prospect like Wiggins and pair them up with the guys you already have. If Rose can come back to be his former self you are looking at a potential dynasty.
This is how you win games folks. Trading for Luol Deng when your a below average squad doesn't!

two 2nd rounders, a heavily protected Sac 1st rounder and the rights to swap for the Cavs 2015 pick (only if the Cavs make the playoffs) is hardly ''so much'' :facepalm

The Bulls can take the 2 2nd round picks and swap them out to move into the first round in the 18-30 range in the draft, because there usually are a few teams that are looking to save cap space for a free agent run.
So effectively, the Cavs gave up 2 first round picks.
And that is just for this season. The Cavs could simply have waited until the summer to sign him then and not give up anything. But the Cavs are still fighting for this season.
Also we don't know if the Cavs wanted to include Anthony Bennett in the deal instead or whether the Bulls didn't want him.
