Los Angeles Clippers associate head coach Alvin Gentry is expected to soon interview for the Utah Jazz's head-coaching vacancy, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Yahoo! Sports
The Cleveland Cavaliers have also contacted the Clippers about Gentry for their head-coaching vacancy, but an interview has not been set up, a source said. Gentry has ties to new Cavaliers general manager David Griffin when both worked for the Phoenix Suns. Yahoo! Sports
The Sacramento Kings have also contacted Gentry about their assistant coach position, a source said. Kings head coach Michael Malone never filled the position vacated by his father Brendan a week before last season. Yahoo! Sports
Not sure I was ever that impressed with him. I guess he ran D'Antoni's offense while concentrating more on D. Might be exciting basketball anyway. They need to run the young guys for sure. Not sure they can shoot well enough. I think defensively they have potential.
Not sure if they've got much to trade.
They got Detroits 1st this year, which is pick #9. Not a lot else on the team that's tradeable unless they give up on MKG. If Detroit want to get back in, they could trade Monroe, but I think SVG likes him and Drummond up front more than Dumars did.
Would we take Gordon for #9 and then use that to move up?
That could be a good player depending on who they pick. We can't trade G until after free agency starts. If he wants to go to Charlotte the Jazz might get what they can out of the deal if there's anything they want to get. I can't imagine he would want to play Al ball again though at any price.
Sounds like Van Gundy likes Monroe but maybe not at any price.
5. Jazz -- Aaron Gordon, F, Arizona freshman, 6-9, 220
Julius Randle is the best player on the board, but the Jazz are set at power forward after signing Derrick Favors to a four-year, $48 contract extension last October. Gordon is a tweener with a mediocre jump shot, but he is a superior athlete and a strong defender and rebounder. With one of the league's youngest cores, Utah can be patient while Gordon develops.
23. Jazz (via Warriors) -- Bogdan Bogdanovic, G, Serbia (21 years old), 6-6, 200
Opinions about Bogdanovic vary, with some scouts questioning whether the Partizan Belgrade shooting guard has the physical tools to thrive in the NBA. Still, Bogdanovic is a solid perimeter shooter, he can attack the basket and he plays unselfishly.
Don't see the Jazz set anywhere. I just read Gordon shot 36% from 3 so is he really mediocre? He might be the guy if he's got potential to shoot.

Lindsey also stresses that everything is on the table for the Jazz, pertaining to the immediate draft and possible future transactions, that the Jazz will be active rather than passive. "All the options will be exhausted," he says. "Trading up, trading back, trading out, whatever the best alternative is."

At least 150 spectators were present to look at Gordon and LaVine, including Gary Sacks (Clippers), Jerry West (Golden State Warriors), Danny Ainge (Boston Celtics), Pete D'Alessandro (Sacramento Kings), Neil Olshey (Portland Trail Blazers), Tommy Sheppard (Washington Wizards), Sam Hinkie (Philadelphia 76ers), Mark Warkentien and Allan Houston (New York Knicks), Tom Thibodeau (Chicago Bulls) and Dennis Lindsey (Utah Jazz). One executive, who didn't want to be quoted to protect his team's draft strategy, said he preferred Gordon to the two other big men in the same range (Julius Randle of Kentucky and Noah Vonleh of Indiana), citing Gordon's potential impact defensively.
