One that's plausible is political activism: 2022 was his first chance to vote and he decided to try and save democracy, by joining redditors and others in getting Trump out by voting for Haley in the closed primaries.
Another possibility is that he was planning this for a long time, having to join Republican/Trump events to scope out security and venues.
Could also be just to mess with Trump in his death.
