Re: NFL Season 2025
It's not like Henry was some bum before he signed with the Ravens, he signed a 16 million deal because he hit 30, the age where most running backs fall off a cliff. Henry just happens to take care of his body in ways other players don't, that is documented. I feel Lamar has made strides as a passer as he has aged, but I still wouldn't call it top tier. To me he is below Mahomes, Burrow, & Allen as an overall player, but I have him at the #4 spot which is no insult. Herbert might have a breakout year putting him ahead of Lamar this season.
Henry's yards per carry the THREE years prior to joining the Ravens
4.3
4.4
4.3
Comes to the Ravens and has a career high BY FAR of 5.9 ypc and very well may break that this year. Henry is turning 32 in a few months, this trajectory leads back to one thing - being in the same backfield as Lamar Jackson.
Nobody gets significantly more efficient by themselves at age 30-32 with all the milage and carries he had prior to age 30.

Titans had the worst O-Line in the NFL in Henry’s last years there. Not nearly as bad as the yards per carry suggest.

Re: NFL Season 2025
Comparing the bottom feeding titans to the juggernaut Ravens is a new thing ive never heard.
Who knew Derrick Henry was an all time great running back?
Apparently not everybody.

Re: NFL Season 2025
Titans had a beast oline in Henrys peak and here he is at his age 31 season averaging a half yard more than he ever did in his career prior and right now he's averaging what, 10 yards a carry? 9? For last night's game
Lamar Jackson is the single biggest reason for this. Henry would tell you that himself

Re: NFL Season 2025
The more I see of Russell Wilson playing outside of Seattle the more I feel like Vinny Testaverde and Randall Cunningham deserve Hall of Fame inductions over him.

Once again another cringe post. Imagine telling someone to go read a book. And they follow that up with poor comprehension skills? Maybe sit this one out.

You’re trying hard not to give credit to Lamar Jacksons impact on Henry rushing as a Raven. Nasty work.

What made what tpols said sound so ridiculous? Is Henry not one of the best pure runners we've ever seen?

Because no one is discrediting or even implying Derrick Henry is not. It’s about Lamar Jackson impact on the running game in Baltimore. And how Derrick Henry ypc was 5.9 at age 30 last season and last night 9.4 at age 31. I guess Derrick Henry is feeling good nowadays and he’s running behind a good OL. That’s all…

I just flipped to the previous page and saw that the other guy started the whole "go read a book" thing so I take back my post.

Nobody is Derrick Henry. He’s a one off, a true outlier.
He gets a plus from playing in a much better offense, but he’s not your average 30+ year old RB. Jackson of course had some play in this but slow your roll. You are overstating things a lot.

Re: NFL Season 2025
The NFL running back position does not work this way. Ever.
Guys don't magically get better after 30 years old having the amount of wear and tear he has had leading up to 30 years old.
If you want to chalk it up to Henry becoming magically BETTER after 30 with his track record of carries, go for it.
I'm going to look at this logically and say NO, running backs do not get better individually as they age. He may as well be a 40 year old NBA player right now.
I know reading comprehension is a weak part of most people here so I want to make sure you understand I am not saying Lamar makes Henry. Anyone call tell Henry is still an excellent back and when he gets a lane he makes the most of it. The point is he gets more lanes to run through because of Lamar and the amount of defensive attention he demands in the run game.
It's not different than your hero and Idol Steph Curry. His gravity helps others. Lamar has gravity in the run game.

Re: NFL Season 2025
Watching the game now. Ravens are up 15 with the ball with 9 minutes left. How TF did they lose lol?
Ravens do have a knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

He didn't quite have the wear and tear of Henry, but Tiki Barber legitimately peaked in his early 30's and scrapped his fumbling problem.
