More likely, this competition is between the Jazz/Lindsey and the Celtics/Ainge.
Looks like the Jazz pulled out of the race on draft day really
Lindsey's credentials, by comparisons, are modest. Yet with the added challenge of working in the West, he has succeeded in matching Boston's recent rebuild.
no he hasn't. Without Rudy they are Orlando
Lindsey's biggest hits were drafting Rudy Gobert, hiring coach Quin Snyder, signing free agent Joe Johnson and trading for point guards George Hill and Ricky Rubio in successive summers. He's also had some misses, such as drafting Trey Burke.
Rubio is his biggest miss yet
The Jazz already covered the potential loss of Hill in free agency by trading for Rubio, but who could replace Hayward?
someone better than Rubio

just pay him to be the 2 guard
Exum's 3-point shot looked good in the portion of practice media was allowed to witness. During one stretch, on corner threes and moving to the wing, Exum made 20 of 24 looks from beyond the arc. But then as he transitioned to a drill testing his mid-range dribble pull-up shooting, Exum struggled mightily, missing seven to eight shots in a row. Reported Ingles is staying. 4/52 million deal. Must like being in Utah to take a cheaper deal.
-

I thought he might take a lot less the way he was talking. Starting SG. Need a back-up center now.
Utah now has $94M in guaranteed contracts (not including the $7.5M Boris Diaw non-guaranteed contract) with the Joe Ingles four-year, $52M contract. Ingles has a $4.18M cap hold (vs. a $11.6M cap hit) and expect the Jazz to leave the hold against the cap in case Utah will need to create room.

Do you want Mack to stay or do you think he should go so we can have more time for exum/burks etc...?
-
Re: The 2017 off-season...Hayward, Hill, Ingles...?
Also it seems like Miami and Boston have a lot going their way currently as far as Hayward is concerned. We'll have to wait another week I imagine though to really see what's going to happen
-
Re: The 2017 off-season...Hayward, Hill, Ingles...?
Jazz have not upgraded. Why would he stay?
Can't see them keeping Mack. They have Rubio, Exum, Neto, Mitchell, Goss and Wallace already. Exum and Neto should fight for the back-up one with Exum also being able to play some wing if he doesn't continue sucking. Can see the others being in the mix by the end of the year too. Could still cut Neto but he's cheap and proven unlike the others
-
Re: The 2017 off-season...Hayward, Hill, Ingles...?
True, I like Neto. I'm really not sold on Exum though, he always shows flashes but nothing ever sustained, so we shouldn't expect anything better. And yeah the Jazz haven't upgraded this offseason, or even held even. I'm probably optimistic to a fault, but I still think Utah has a good chance seeing as Gobert is the best player between Mia/Bos/Utah

actually he has by the media. Marcus Paige gets talked about still though! :wtf:
"We've been going hard in the weight room. I'm trying to put some muscle and some weight on to get stronger," Wallace said. "On the court, I'm continuing to work on my shot and my finishes at the rim. Working on the complete package."
Nice. Thats all the stuff he needed to work on. Some of the same issues as Exum and he's only a year older and a lot cheaper! Has a better handle to
He's a very good candidate for one of the NBA's new 2-way roster spots if he continues on this trajectory.
I'd think those spots are his and Goss' to lose. But what if they play close to Exum's level in Summer league though?

So did Hill (or his former agent) just totally overestimate how much teams were willing to pay him as a free agent? Turned down a Jazz extension and talked about wanting $100+ million or whatever and now is negotiating a 1 year deal with the Lakers.

Pretty sad. The market dried up and teams are weary of his injuries I imagine. Try to have a big year in LA and get paid next year I guess. Hard to believe he's going to the Lakers. Why not sign him to play the 2 for the Jazz even if it's only one year?
