Re: Jordan 69 pt game vs Kobe 81 point game
Jordan's for sure, and that's not a knock on Kobe's game either.
Not the point of the thread but an amazing game I hear almost no one talk about is Chamberlains 73 point, 36 rebound game against HOF center Walt Bellamy on 60% shooting
also his 60 and 66 point games in 1969 weren't to shabby either considering his role changes and age. (33)
of the 62 60+ games in NBA history, Wilts got 33. 53% of them

Re: Jordan 69 pt game vs Kobe 81 point game
None of those were legendary performances, kid. Some great performances no doubt, but nothing awe inspiring.
Not an individual game in that lot that serves as a memory. That is a microcosm of who Kobe Bryant was as a player. Something we will always remember him for ... a stamp on NBA playoff / Finals history.
No the way Kobe stans and the moronic latin cholo Laker fan base percieve Kobe's reputation as a player on a self indulgent 81 point regular season game.
You listed a damn series in there haha ... in the vast majority of these cases, given Kobe's team, he was the favorite in the series.
There wasn't a series of events where Kobe overcame some obstacle and just did something no one would've expected.
The closest Kobe has EVER come in recent history to a truly memorable and legendary performance was in the 2010 Finals. Boston was roughing them up, showing signs they were the better team (and w/ Perk, I think they were) ... he had that STUNNING 19 point 3rd quarter.
And that's when I said "wow, the self entitled black mamba is finally going to do his venomous 81 point thing in an actual MEANINGUL game with something on the line" ... and then he didn't duplicate it in the 4th. And failed to meet legendary expectations once again.
That was his opportunity. To seperate himself and become a MEMORY. The way we remember past legends stand out games in a HIGH pressure and intensity atmosphere. But he blew it. That year given his physical abilities was the last time he'd be able to do it on an EPIC scale against a very difficult opponent. That opportunity is gone.
The most lasting Kobe legendary memory is how he took over in the final minutes for Team USA in the gold medal game in 2008. And they wouldn't have even been in the game if it wasn't for the clutch-ness of D-Wade through 3 quarters.
All those games you mentioned, no casual or even regular NBA fan lists those as LEGENDARY games. I get it, that's your guy. And he's easily the 2nd greatest SG of all-time. But please, hop off his d1ck ... lay off and stay off.
I'd go so far to say even Jerry West has had more truly legendary type performances in the playoffs or Finals. Elgin Baylor as well.
First of all, I don't know why you feel the need to talk down to me. I'm not a new NBA fan. Maybe you have been watching longer than me, but that's irrelevant in this conversation. I've witnessed the majority of Kobe's career, just like you have.
I don't know what makes Lebron's performances so legendary compared to Kobe's. Just because there was more pressure on Lebron? That was kind of his own fault actually. Many people were expecting him to come up short in game 6 in Boston because of what happened the year before. But instead he came up huge. Props to him for that, but why it so vastly superior to Kobe's many 40+ point outbursts in the playoffs?
You said Kobe never had to overcome an obstacle. You're propping him up and you don't even know it. He's always expected to win, so of course he never really shocked anybody. His scoring outbursts are just "normal". He does it all the time. He's 3rd all time in playoff points, and has a good chance of being #1 in that category when it's all said and done.

Samurai Swoosh? Hey, now you have to admit LeBron's not a frontrunner :D Came back from being down in three straight series

Uh huh:rolleyes:
So...I guess the reason why you're the only person on the planet trying to compare the Lakers '09 season to Lebron 2012 season, was cuz you had nothing better to do then....huh? Try again:no:
You really want to bring back up a thread where you basically argued yourself stupid and looked like a complete idiot?
I actually wasn't saying one run was better then the other (although I do believe Lebron's was easily). I was using Kobe's 09 run as an example that you can discredit any playoff run in response to people discrediting Lebron's 12 run. And even if I wanted to compare the two, how does that make me a fan? I could just be comparing them cause I think its interesting. Those two are pretty much the two most popular players of almost the decade. Does that mean anyone that compares two players has to be a fan of one of them? Thats a stupid assumption.
Re: Jordan 69 pt game vs Kobe 81 point game
Watched both games several times and I like the 81 better. The onslaught of points in the second half was amazing. Not to take anything away from Jordan's performance, especially the 18 rebounds.

Don't take this the wrong way, it's just you got a very unique style. :lol Jordan homer / Kobe fan (very rare) with perspective. Good to see you back.

The only people making any kind of a big deal about Lebron's title run, are bandwagon Lebron fans like you. Nobody else on the planet thinks it's as big of a deal as bandwagon Lebron fans, like you try to make it out to be. Therefore, they don't feel this NEED to try to legitimize it, like bandwagon Lebron fans like you do. Yeah, you were just sitting around one day and just decided to compare Lebron's 2012 to the Lakers '09 run, by sheer coincidence....right? Why not the Spurs/Mavs/Pistons/Celtics title runs....huh? Only bandwgon Lebron fans like you also feel this NEED to ALWAYS measure Lebron against Kobe. Only bandwagon Lebron fans like you want to overrate him even more, simply cuz he finally won a title. The evidence speaks for itself, and any reasonable person can see that you're really a bandwagon Lebron fan. Whether you admit it or not, is irrelevant. Nice try though:applause:
Samurai Swoosh? Hey, now you have to admit LeBron's not a frontrunner
I gave dude props for having one of the absolute best, and most amazing playoff performances I have EVER seen.
Game 6 v.s. Boston was incredible. No expression, just straight murder of the opposition in the face of overwhelming odds, and incredible nation wide hate wanting to see him fail.
With that said, shut the hell up.
The reason he's still a coward and a front runner is because he's IN MIAMI with the super friends. That act shot his legacy in the foot. Guy had a career laid out for him in Cleveland that could've seen him challenge the throne to MJ. You can never get around that ...
He's still a front runner to me, but undoubtedly the best player in the game. As I have been saying since 2008 / 2009.
His mental approach is changing though, so there is hope. If he adopted the mentality of game 6, the Jordan-esque demeanor ... the assasin like cold blood approach. And not the over the top wanting to be ferocious antics of Kobe, or the passive / pu$$y LeBron of the past several years ... it would be lights out for the league.
But what are you talking about down in three straight series? The only one in serious question was the Celtics one. They never should've been down to Indiana. And in the Finals they were only down one game, no big deal.
With that said he also had some memorable performances in that Indiana series. Yet, he also had a sidekick who balled out of his mind a few games in that series too, even though he was injured.
Pippen never dropped 40+ in a playoff game. Neither has Pau Gasoft.

:oldlol: You're an odd fellow. Like I said, I'm not a Lebron fan. I root against both Lebron and Kobe so I don't have a bias towards either of them when they are compared. In fact, just in the past few days I've argued in another thread why I think Lebron shouldn't be considered a better player then Kobe in 2010 even though the consensus is that he was the best player of that year.
It wasn't a coincidence. The person who I initially responded to that tried to discredit Lebron's run was a Kobe fan and Kobe's 2009 run was the most recent similar example so I used it.
And what the hell are you talking about? Its not just Lebron fans that compare the two. Everyone does and understandably so since they've been clearly the 2 best players overall for at least the last 7 years.
And actually, people all over the media were making a pretty big deal out Lebron's run. Alot of unbiased people here were making a big deal out of it as well. Of course, I'm sure you are just going to say they are all biased Lebron fans that wear his jersey hidden under their clothes when they are in public :oldlol:

You couldn't put up those numbers with a maxed out Wilt on 2K12 playing 12 minute quarters on Rookie difficulty.

how someone can dominate his piers to that extent is ****in ridiculous. 73 and 36 against another HOF center?

Deny it all you want. But ranking Lebron at 11 after 1 title when reasonable NBA fans have him at 12 to 15 wreaks of a card carrying Lebronyte. Nice try:applause:
