That could actually be a good fit at least in the short term with him and Shai he can stay at sg and they have some great young players coming in behind them. Doubt Presti wants him though. Sounds like Shai is available as it is

https://fansided.com/2022/07/15/knicks-turn-down-jazz-trade-6-first-round-picks/
If that seems like an absurd haul, remember that the Timberwolves just gave the Jazz five players (including their last two first-round picks), four future first-round picks and a pick swap. You can argue endlessly about whether Mitchell or Gobert are actually more impactful but Mitchell is higher-profile and would seem to be more conventionally appealing. So it’s no surprise the Jazz are asking for so much.
you could but there's never really been an argument for Mitchell over Gobert. It's not close. If it was Ainge would be keeping Mitchell and maybe Rudy too
However, the Jazz have also made clear they don’t think the Heat can offer enough so if they can’t extract the deal they want from the Knicks, they may have to choose between settling for less or rolling into next season with Mitchell still on the roster.
He might settle or he might just raise the demands. We're talking Ainge and Mr. James ****in Dolan! :lol
If draft picks are what the Jazz is after, perhaps the Knicks should be considered the favorites. And that’s what we’ve been hearing the most since the Mitchell trade rumblings grew louder and louder. Amongst the teams that would be interested in Mitchell, New York has the most draft picks available to trade.
the market is NY and that's plenty unless two or three teams can put together a better package somehow? Knicks seem most likely because of their history of screwing up their team every time they clean up the previous mess! But if the Kings or the other badly run teams want to get into it I'm game. Mr. James ****in' Dolan is my great white hope right now though!
In bargaining, you must always start high. But if five or six future first-round draft picks are the ask for Mitchell, you’d have to seriously wonder if the Jazz is that open to trading him. Even the Knicks, who have the means to make it happen, would have to tread carefully with that type of deal.
He's as good as gone. Ainge asks for the impossible and settles for the biggest haul in history.

Re: 2022 off season Post Gobert. A new era begins
Looking on Real GM's trade checker where they have the players that teams have the rights to as well. The Knicks is a bottomless pit of those guys including Tomic who is now 35! But they got some guys that might have value. Ainge needs to go after them as well. This was a big tool for the Spurs when they were winning. They drafted a pg last year still only 21. Rokas Jokubaitis, high 2nd round pick, 6'4. Playing in summer league now with them. They have the rights to 4 other guys in their mid to late 20's that might still have some value?
It’s been a tumultuous summer as Danny Ainge and Justin Zanik have made some bold moves. They’ve already traded Donovan Mitchell’s close friend, Royce O’Neale to the Brooklyn Nets, didn’t match qualifying offers for Mitchell’s best friend Eric Paschall, and didn’t re-sign Trent Forrest, who was also close to Mitchell.
can still bring Paschall and Forrest back
You could say that’s a sign that the offseason is going well for Utah. Now, they’ve signed a respected coach and former player who comes with the experience of winning a championship.

you could say that but you got rid of a statue so I wouldn't
Re: 2022 off season Post Gobert. A new era begins
The Spurs are destined for an all-out tank in 2023, but all the other younger teams want to try and win now. The Thunder and Rockets have some young players, and the Blazers seem to think Damian Lillard can get them to the postseason. The Kings have Fox and Sabonis, so there’s no reason for them to throw games. It could be a race to the bottom, but with all the draft capital from a hypothetical Mitchell trade, the Jazz will be back in force soon.
only Kings and Blazers are trying to win
Of course, the ideal offseason would include keeping Mitchell, staying somewhat competitive, and then using their three first-rounders in 2023 to build a real roster by as fast as next season. That seems to be the easy way out and would keep fans happy in the long term.
it's unrealistic so I wouldn't be happy

Re: 2022 off season Post Gobert. A new era begins
In the case of Mitchell, the fact Herro is contract extension eligible this offseason — and would be a restricted free agent in 2023 if no extension is reached — gives the Jazz pause. Especially considering Herro is asking for a max contract. While he may not get the full max, he will land a big number deal. The rebuilding Jazz are not looking to add that to their payroll right now — it’s why they are not interested in RJ Barrett from the Knicks in a trade (Barrett, too, is up for a big new contract). Robinson already signed his extension and has four years, $74.4 million left on it (the last year is a player option). In the case of Durant, the Nets want an All-Star and the buzz from league sources is they are lukewarm on a Herro and Robinson package, even with more picks. Never count out Pat Riley. He has a way of making the unexpected — and seemingly impossible — happen. And there is a reason the Heat are in the mix for both players.
