not too familiar with Coach Hardy I take it? George is at least young. The Bum otoh... :facepalm

https://thejnotes.com/posts/bleacher-report-once-again-underestimates-who-and-what-the-utah-jazz-need-at-the-trade-deadline-01hn8g76k3nt
Yet, Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley continues to believe the Jazz are sellers at the deadline, and whatever trade they make will be a low-impact one. In this recent article, Buckley suggests the Jazz target the New York Knicks' Quentin Grimes, the Atlanta Hawks' AJ Griffin, and draft picks. Buckley buys into the concept that everyone can be "developed" and fails to realize that Griffin is a flat-out bad player who hurts the Jazz and takes up a valuable roster spot, while Griffin is all defense and no offense.
Griffin is 20 and a former mid 1st round pick. When he got playing time last year he shot 39% on 4 3's a game. He's also a wing which is where the Jazz need guys more than anywhere else. :facepalm
Grimes may be a guy you can invest some time in, but only if you decide to give up on the year and decide to give a guard who has no real scoring ability a lot of minutes. He shot barely over 40% from the floor in college and yet now we believe he can turn into a competent offensive player? No, that's really not how it works. Sure, there are outliers but for the most part, if you're not a good shooter before the NBA, you don't become a great one just by practicing.
another young wing than can shoot. 38% on 5 3's for career. I'd take anything the Knicks had to offer if it means they take The Bum!
Sometimes trades are addition by subtraction.

https://thejnotes.com/posts/the-utah-jazz-need-to-upgrade-their-bench-if-they-hope-to-compete-01hn8f121xhd
The bench is in shambles right now and it needs to be re-worked if you want a better chance at winning games and avoiding collapses. It's time to take George out of the rotation and trade Agbaji and Clarkson. Move Kessler to the starting rotation, and move John Collins to the bench.
Simone isn't a starter. Collins should be on the bench if they can't trade him. Hendricks could help I think. I wouldn't be giving up on Agbaji unless they're bringing in something a lot better. Athletic defender with energy. He looked like a shooter last year. I think the biggest problem this year is he hardly plays. Talen would be better than The Bum and George as much as you hate him. Play your best players more. Dunn starts and plays garbage time just so his minutes don't look as bad I think while The Bum plays starter minutes and more than Sexton. Kessler should play more. Olynyk could play more. In other words fix the roster and/or get a new coach that has a clue!

https://thejnotes.com/posts/don-t-speed-up-the-timeline-how-the-jazz-should-navigate-the-trade-deadline-01hnk1e81500
Selling could be a good idea for Utah. It would allow the Jazz to focus on developing George, Hendricks, Agbaji, and other young talent. Their youth is their future, and by the time those players are ready to compete in the playoffs, older players like Clarkson and Olynyk may be out of the picture anyway. I like the idea of selling for the Jazz, but only if the return is enough to support the team's future aspirations. Draft picks and young players with potential should be the target return. Clarkson and Olynyk are good players though, and great culture guys. If a good offer isn't available, retaining these players is the right move.
Agbaji and Hendricks definitely need more time. Improves the D. Hard to part with Olynyk. I'd get rid of Collins if I could and probably Simone and The Bum. Open up Kessler to start again. Hendricks gets the 4th big and wing minutes. Agbaji gets more wing minutes. Hopefully Dunn starts getting big minutes with The Bum gone. George needs to start earning them. Possibly Talen or Sensabaugh getting minutes now too depending on what comes back in those trades and moves that follow? Need wings most it would seem. I think Talen could be a 6th man off the bench still but if they aren't going to play him they might as well get rid of him.
With the recent resurgence of Collin Sexton and the promising performance of Keyonte George, giving up future draft capital to bring in a player like Murray could be detrimental to each point guard who would lose minutes to make space for Murray. Why make a veteran addition when that seems to work against their current trajectory? The Jazz have shown interest in another veteran: Hornets forward, Miles Bridges, per Yahoo Sports.
Lauri, Murray and Sexton makes them one of the better teams in the league. Might have to get rid of Dunn if you get him or relegate him back to 3rd pg. George learns behind him and Sexton until he earns their job. He's the guy I'd be after. COTM would love to have The Bum and maybe Simone, Dunn, Sensabaugh, Samanic, Yurtseven, etc, picks, cash. swaps?

Re: 2023-24 NBA Season
Start Murray, Sexton, Hunter, Lauri and Kessler
Okynyk, Agbaji, Mills, George, Hendricks, with Matthews, Sensabaugh, 3rd or 4th team players fighting it out for scraps. Could also open up roster spaces for buyouts. Get better defensively even if you lose some overall depth which actually might be good. Hard for Hardy to screw that up right?

Re: 2023-24 NBA Season
The latest comes from Jazz beat writer Tony Jones of The Athletic, who was asked if Jordan Clarkson would be open to the idea of being traded to the New York Knicks when he joined ESPN 700’s The Drive with Spence Checketts. “I can tell you just from my conversations with people around the situation, I think that Jordan [Clarkson] would welcome a trade [to the Knicks] if that’s how it would go down. There’s another team out west he would welcome a trade to. I’m not going to say the name of that team and the reason why I’m not going to say the name of that team is because there’s very little chance of that trade happening.”

Re: 2023-24 NBA Season
https://saltcityhoops.com/sc7-trade-likelihood-50-40-90/
Of all the young guys in the Jazz’s employ, George and Kessler have shown themselves most capable of contributing to winning both now and later, making them extremely valuable to a team that’s rebuilding but also desires to be competitive soon. Again, neither guy is literally untouchable, but there’s a reason you just haven’t heard their names in the rumor mill.
I think Hendricks has more to offer than George and if the coach won't play Kessler how valuable is he?
Sexton’s explosion as a starter has been one of the coolest things about the 2023-24 Jazz season. You hear vague mention of him being gettable, but I have yet to hear him connected to any specific rumored deal. My guess is that’s a reflection that the dialogue on him hasn’t made it that far. Which makes sense: he’s the current co-second leading scorer (victory lap time), he’s barely 25, and he’s on a really reasonable contract. (There was a time when $17 to $19M felt a little rich for Young Bull, but not anymore.) Only eight guards are averaging 17ppg or more on at least 60% true shooting, and the rest are established stars[SUP]2[/SUP].
should be looking to build around him and Lauri
Collins at this point is a negative asset, and that’s not even a slam on the Jazz. They got him for free, and taking swings on physically exceptional 26-year-olds is exactly what a team in the Jazz’s situation should be doing. But with defensive issues, just-OK shooting, and $53 million still owed after this season, he’s someone the Jazz would have to attach an asset to move (unless he’s salary filler in a huge buyer trade that it doesn’t sound like is currently out there). Based on where the Jazz are at today, it just doesn’t make sense to attach stuff to move on from him. Which is why I foresee he’ll be a Jazzman at 1:01 MST on Thursday.
that sucks. Needs to come off the bench at least but he's still blocking Hendricks and taking minutes from Kessler and Olynyk
Clarkson is clearly attracting more attention than that on the open market, but the big question there is whether offers for the dynamic scorer will be better in the offseason, when his cap number is $14M instead of $23M and change. There’s persistent Knicks-Clarkson chatter, although Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale speculates New York might want something closer to traditional playmaking as opposed to Clarkson’s mercurial dribble-probing. The Jazz have the luxury of waiting if they can’t get full value out of Clarkson at his current cap number; he’ll be an absolute steal for someone next season at just over $14M.
can't imagine Thibs liking him or anyone for that matter. Steal!
The Jazz absolutely love what they’ve gotten from part-time starters Simone Fontecchio and Kris Dunn. At the same time, the former was an off-the-radar signing and the latter was not on an NBA team a year ago today. At some point, if you can turn those types of bargain-basement signings into even second-round capital, you should consider it. (Utah is also light on second-rounders, which would be helpful if they want to include some of their extra 1sts in future deals but want a backstop so they can protect them on the high end… i.e. “You can have one of the Wolves’ picks, but if it’s top 4, you get this 2nd instead,” similar to what the Lakers did with their 2027 1st currently owed to the Jazz.)
Who cares how they got Dunn. He's their best defender and playmaker. Again the coach not playing him is the only problem with Dunn
Kelly Olynyk has become really important to how the Jazz play. He’s their best passer at any position, and he’s a hell of a shooter when he’s actually willing to let fly. He’s also about to be a 33-year-old free agent, which is why the consensus out there is that the Jazz will likely move on.
I'd want to keep him especially if you can somehow move Collins
None of Talen Horton-Tucker, Omer Yurtseven, Luka Samanic or Brice Sensabaugh has played more than 53 minutes since December 21, a 15-8 span for Utah. Sensabaugh’s rookie contract and Yurtseven’s fully non-guaranteed 2024-25 probably allow the Jazz to be a little choosy with them. The other two, though, will be unrestricted free agents after 30ish more games, which means the Jazz would likely be willing, but also that they’re unlikely to draw much value.
Talen could help some teams I think including the Jazz. Yurtseven and Samanic wouldn't be bad pickups for someone either. Can't see Brice going unless they get someone like Murray or Bridges
“I wish Lauri was named to the All-Star team… He gives us the opportunity every night, no matter who we’re playing or how they’re guarding us, he’s going to give us an opportunity to create some advantages for our team because of his wide-ranging skill set…
maybe if his coach saw him as the teams best player instead of The Bum
