I believe 2/3 of Japanese people are watching this game right now.
Americans are much hyped for this tournament than ever as well.
So yes, it will be.
Otani will be the closer in the 9th after Darvish let 1 run in. 3-2 Japan. Too close to call.
Ohanti vs Trout for the WBC title. True classic.

And Otani wins! 3rd WBC for Team Japan!!
Congrats to Japan but can't shake off that bad feeling that MX could've won this tournament:(

They actually did better than The DR. And they beat USA. That's something worth being proud of.

Almost beat Japan too, should've beaten them in fact but yeah, they did better than a lot of people expected.
Yoshida is the tournament's MVP for overall performance. Shohei obviously the shining star tonight but I would still pick Yoshida over him. Red Sox is lucky to have him.
Trea Turner is great as well and he would be the MVP if Team USA won.

BDE always deliver good baseball video including this.
I'm still buzzing over this tournament. I still can't comprehend how it came down to Ohtani vs Trout for the last out. And Ohtani going to the bullpen then running back out to leg out an infield single then going back to the bullpen and come out to throwing triple digit fastballs and a perfect slider to strikeout Trout? Incredible mental and physical resiliency. Gerrit Cole would've had a panic attack. Never mind that he can't hit or run.

It's March Madness level randomness. Any of the good teams could've won and Mexico was certainly one of them.

I've beat off to the video of that sequence 3 times now. Shit makes me horny.
WBC is gonna be huge in 30 years and people will look back at this WBC as the one that fully legitimized and spearheaded its prestige.
Kind of the perfect ending because USA will have a revenge attitude going into the next one driving actual elite pitchers to perform. I understand teams being cautious with their star pitchers but they need to get the **** over it and think about the big picture. The tournament helps the sports popularity immensely and the workload for them is similar to spring training anyways.
The WBC this year was one of the funnest sporting events I've witnessed in years. You get a bit of the world cup atmosphere but with an actual sport played by men and not fakkits kicking a ball. Just amazing.
Happy Opening Day boys!
Should we make a 2023 thread?
