Re: There's no way in hell that Ralph Sampson was 7-4
I agree with the OP. Chick Hearn had interviewed Mark Eaton in the mid 80's and Eaton made this exact claim, that Sampson was 2 inches shorter than him:
Eaton was a legit 7'4" where as Sampson was a sneaker-height 7'4".
Today, Eaton would be listed at 7'5" or 7'6"....

Re: There's no way in hell that Ralph Sampson was 7-4
For the record, I neither authorized nor agree with the change to my thread title. It kills all the mystery and suspense.
But look at the video I posted. He looks barely an inch taller than Parish and certainly not 7 inches taller than Bird.
I say a legit, barefoot, 7'1". Maybe.

Jabbar was 7'1 7/16" here you see Sampson bending down to Jabbars head level.
Ralph is 7' 3 8/16" in socks and 7' 4 9/16" in shoes

Good to know that people still can't distinguish from truth and exaggeration.

Yep...obviously Kiki van de Wege had an agenda.

Those numbers are way too accurate to be anything other than made up. And the bending down thing would really only apply if Jabbar is standing straight up, which clearly, he is nowhere near to doing. Basically, that image tells us nothing.
Your whole post is useless.
Re: There's no way in hell that Ralph Sampson was 7-4
Sampson also had very short arms. Even if he were somewhere around 7-3 or 7-4, he was still limited.

Forgive me, I was born without humor glands. I've never even let out a subdued chortle.
