Re: Drake leaving Young Money for Roc Nation?
LIL Wayne is the reason why Drake got so big....:facepalm
How much bigger in the mainstream can he get than he already is now?....He's wayyy more popular than J. Cole, had well known singles, great debut album Sale....He's this Big because Wayne.
lol@ YM holding him back...Back from what?....Dude has everything a young rapper can ask for...lol@ these ppl.
From getting respect, that's what YM is holding him back from.
Everytime I listen to some underground rap song on YouTube the highest rated comment usually has something dissing Drake with 80+ likes, and it's disgusting.
Drake deserves respect, and with Young Money, he isn't going to get that.
Also, now that he has a large fan base, he doesn't even need them anymore.

Didn't he have a number one hit and a loyal fanbase before he even signed to Young Money? And the contract they gave him was straight robbery by Drake.
Under the unusually lucrative agreement he struck with Aspire/Young Money/Cash Money Records distributed through Universal, Drake received a $2-million advance. He retains the publishing rights to his songs and cedes only around 25% of his music sales revenues to the label as a 'distribution fee,' his managers said. By contrast, the overwhelming majority of new artists sign financially restrictive '360 deals' that sap their touring and merchandise income and offer much more restrictive profit-sharing. (Los Angeles Times)
And Lil Wayne was in jail for the past year when Drake really blew up. You're giving Wayne way too much credit here.

lol, respect?...Success bring haters...He's even rapped about that..."The human mentality is so eager to hate somethin, or try to play it off like it aint jumpin"....Everyone is isn't a dishit knows Drake is a beast on the mic with the lyrics and flow....Most hate because he makes a few songs for the ladies...f*cke em, haters gonna hate.
He's winning awards for being best current rapper, at the f*cking top of the game. On ever magazine, radio station, BET top 10, having shit loads of rappers and singers wanting him on his shit...
:oldlol: @ Living what created you because of "Gang culture"....lmao, GTFO.
More respect...lol....F*ck the minority of haters who mad that their boring as underground rappers aint gettin signed....F*ck ppl who actin like Drake aint real hip-hop because he happens to sing and make songs for chicks...F*ck all those backpacking asswhipes.
Drake is top of the class of Hip-Hop....lol@ him wanting to go to Roc Nation....J . Cole is suppose to be his comp...Cole still aint even as big as Drake YET, lol f*ck Hov.....Nicki Minaj gettin more spin than Hov and J. Cole...
But you right, he's popular now off of Wayne, so he can go do whatever he wants....I'd still be a fan though...

Drake got the singles and views based off his connections with Wayne...It's been in motion before he offically signed with Wayne...
I remember every single thing from how Drake got big....Yeah, he was known in T.O, but not mainstream...Once he dropped 2 mixtape type tracks with Wayne, everyone took notice...Then Wayne spit Drakes "Money To Blow" verse on the MTV award show gave him a shoutout, got him more views..
Also, not saying Drake isn't a Beast on his own, but Wayne's leading him in really opened the door, this can't be denied....More ppl starting paying attention to him after those tracks with Wayne in like 07-08...His media started to pick up, so he dropped some sick mixtapes, Comeback Season and So Far Gone, epic...
But again, he has every right to leave if he wants....But leaving because of "Gang activities" is straight up pusse status.
Re: Drake leaving Young Money for Roc Nation?
You can credit Wayne with his popularity if you want but I'm not buying it.

:oldlol: OK whatever, suit yourself....I've been a Drake fan long before his epic media rise...Wayne gave him the open door, Drake's skills went on from there...
Also, Drake is my 2nd fav rapper, and is better than most in the game.
Re: Drake leaving Young Money for Roc Nation?
Roc Nation is way better than young money. Love to see the switch go down.

He prolly justs want to expand artistically and wants to churn out classic after classic of material that may not fit the YM template of pigeonholing subject matter and simplistic metaphors. I think any dude that values sophistication in his way of rhyming would rather be under the tutelage and mission statement of Jay-Z over Wayne.
Re: Drake leaving Young Money for Roc Nation?
Oh Noes the world will end and hell will freeze over, not Drizzy!:-(
Re: Drake leaving Young Money for Roc Nation?
Drake sucks....but he did well under YM so why leave...(oh yeah he's scared, lol).
Jay Z does not do well developing and promoting artists.
Cash Money/YM has turned some low talent acts into stars....I would stick with them.

Like who, Drake and Nicki that's it. I don't think Gutta Gutta and Lil Chuckie are huge, lol.
Re: Drake leaving Young Money for Roc Nation?
I Dont Like Drake Not After Watching That Utube Vid.
Re: Drake leaving Young Money for Roc Nation?
People were hating on Drake just because he was on Young Money, he might get some respect now. Not the greatest rapper, but still..

Cash Money/YM is full of garbage artists like Baby, Lloyd, Nicki, and the acts you mentioned.
But you/we know about them.
Who else do you know about on Roc Nation besides J Cole?
Jigga was the president of Def Jam and couldn't promote acts with large and loyal fan bases well. I don't think Hed do Drake justice.
