Can white guys play in the Negro Leagues?
Guys tend to go easy on girls, especially hot girls. Might not be a great idea.
Wrong. "WNBA" stands for "Women's Basketball Association." "NBA" does not stand for "Men's National Basketball Association."
The name is completely irrelevant. Either you can discriminate on the basis of gender, in pro sports, or you can't.

I'll tell you what: Go try out for a WNBA team and see what happens.

If the NBA chooses to allow both genders, that could work, but that is unlikely to happen. All the sports illustrated articles, and statements made to appease feminists, won't change the practical problems involved.

On the playground, sure. But if a 5'11 160 lb. girl is all that stands between an undrafted 6'6 250 PF and a half-mil for a year of ball she won't be standing for long.

Did you read the link? Please find the rule in the NBA books that specifically forbids women from playing. It doesn't exist. If a team deemed a woman good enough to help, they could sign her. The reason there isn't one is that none so far has been thought good enough.
Brittany Greiner in the NBA would be awesome. Myra Moore would be another one that would be interesting.
I'd take Brittany over more than a couple of centers in the NBA right now :oldlol:

There are women who could play as spot up 3 pt shooters coming off the bench, but they will never be signed. There would be too many problems with sexual harassment, the first woman that got flagrant fouled, would be a huge scandal, many of the players would protest it, it would alienate many of the young male fans/players, because the sport would appear less masculine, etc.
If they specifically stated that women were forever excluded, it would invite criticism from feminists, and they would gain nothing. Denying that the barring of female players is an unwritten rule, is disingenuous, though.

No way that is a girl ...

There are women who shoot as well as any man but there's more to being an NBA player than just hitting a jumper. Steve Kerr still has a great jumper but he couldn't play in the NBA right now. A woman would lack the strength to defend any NBA player. Name a single female player that wouldn't get absolutely destroyed. Size, speed, muscle, these things are extremely important. Women don't naturally get these things on par with men so they can't play with the men at the highest level. Just like how you won't see a woman race against Usain Bolt you won't see a woman playing against Derek Rose. It's just too great of a mismatch.

Athleticism isn't the only reason that females haven't been signed.
Technically, they are allowed. The league title doesn't specify gender, where as the WNBA does. Still, a woman would never make it in the NBA. They're not strong or fast enough.
By the looks of Amare's and Melo's defense, they might be part women.
