Re: Lakers now leading in Howard talks
I really don't understand why ORL doesn't want Bynum? He's only
24, and allstar, and getting better every year....
I am excited about the chance of getting Dwight..... Com' on Mitch!!
Magic wants Bynum to sign an extension but drew already said he will not commit to signing with Orlando, however Drew said he'll commit with signing an extension with the Rockets. The 3-team trade stipulation involves either the Lakers or Rockets taking the contracts of J-Rich or Duhon along with D-Ho of course that is the sticking point.
Re: Lakers now leading in Howard talks
Question is will Dwight have dwight future or dark future? :)
Re: Lakers now leading in Howard talks
At this point, I'm even praying the Lakers don't get Howard. Don't care if they do, but both Howard and Bynum are headcases, so I'm really indifferent on this
Re: Lakers now leading in Howard talks
Orlando does want Bynum and they think that would be the best deal for their team. The problem is Bynum would have to agree to an extension to stay there. They don't want him to leave after the season.....
So Drew said he would sign an extension with HOU but not ORL?

I only saw that here on this message board. I haven't heard that anywhere else. It's a good thing the Nets signed Lopez though. It gives the Lakers a chance.

orlando seems to prefer picks/young assets over bynum, dumps salary and goes full rebuilding mode, minny needs a shooting guard (aside from roy) and prolly get someone who can be better than derrick williams :confusedshrug:

How would Bynum and Howard together work out? Both have exactly the same range (very little), little speed, same post game, very similar game overall. It would never work out to have both on same team. Maybe if they had more range or a game that would complement each other, it would work. Unfortunately, it does not. :confusedshrug:

Re: Lakers now leading in Howard talks
It looks like Lakers won't be front runner up due to Hou willing to amnesty Scola to pursue Dwight.
The Rockets will shed the final three years and $21 million of Scola’s contract, and will file the paperwork with the league office on Friday morning. Dumping Scola will push the Rockets far enough under the cap that they’ll be able to take on multiple contracts from the Magic in a trade for Howard, and still have the space to sign a maximum contract player next summer.
This moves gives the Rockets a chance to try and sell Howard and Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul the chance to play together with the Rockets in the summer of 2013.
Howard has insisted that he would not re-sign with the Rockets, but owner Leslie Alexander and GM Daryl Morey have remained unmoved and unbowed in chasing Howard. Howard had wanted the Magic to trade him to the Brooklyn Nets, but no deal was consummated this week and Brooklyn effectively eliminated themselves from talks until January by re-signing center Brook Lopez to a max contract extension.

Re: Lakers now leading in Howard talks
I honestly think he wouldn't want to stay in Houston, but the thing is what team would have the cap space to go out and sign him and be competitive?
