Good thing you saw your specialist early. Do your rehab early and consistently.
Stopping playing ball can mess with your body. When I tore my meniscus I was misdiagnosed at first and my alignment got all messed up, ended up with chronic knee/foot issues. Got to learn about stuff you only learn about when it hurts like the Iliotibial bands and the iliopsoas
Good luck.

Next D-Rose
In all seriousness though, sorry to hear that. Get well soon.
I only play ball occasionally so that's not a problem. Rehab might be biggest problem. Hopefully it's short and sweet.

Playing ball is great for keeping your inner leg muscles strong. My issue was after I was out of commission for a while.....and I was having trouble just walking to corner for a while.....my knees went from being aligned and both pointing straight ahead to 12 O'Clock, went to point to 10 and 2.
The move. I was at the top of tue key than went to my left toward the baset. I planted my knee and I guess me knee decided to stay while I continued to the hoop. No contact with amyone else.
Knee injuries are no joke, when I did mine, had ACL, PCL, lateral and medial tears all in one, ruined my knee's completely, could never play sports at a resonable level ever again and it's looking like early onset arthritis in my late 30's.
Get them looked after as best as you can and do your rehab right is all I can say.
What'd you specifically do during basketball when you messed up your leg?
Running, jumping, landing?
Really sorry to hear about your injury man. I hope everything turns out alright.
Usually you tear your meniscus when you twist and turn. It could happen if you land wrong.
For me, I chased down a lose ball and when I stopped and turned back to the play, I just felt intense pain, and I just threw the ball back and limped away. I knew instantly something was wrong.

WALK IT OFF! Kidding. That sucks. my friend had the same thing happen during basketball practice took about a year after surgery and rehab for him to be able to be active comfortably. Good luck with everything.
All a specialist needs to do is give you a Thessaly's and Mcmurrays test then send you for an MRI
Just had surgery. Best sleep I ever had. I think I dosed off mid conversation. I'm still a little high.
Lol a combo ACL/Men rehab will be anything but short and sweet. It will be quite painful and long.
