Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
This draft is actually looking pretty good now. :applause:
Wall
DMC
George
Favors
Hayward
Monroe
Bledsoe
Stevenson
All are solid starters for a long time.
Ed Davis, Larry Sanders, Trevor Booker should be serviceable PF/C for awhile too.
Patrick Patterson should be in the serviceable category too. Very skilled player.
Greivis Vasquez lead the league in total assists 1 season.
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
This is a tough one but I'll probably go with...
1. George
2. Cousins
3. Wall
Who knows how well George would be doing right now if he didn't get injured back in July. I mean just last year he was averaging a very respectable 22/7/3, and added in some great defense. He also lead the Pacers to the ECF for the 2nd straight time. I know it's the East, but that's still saying something. To be that young and to be able to do those kinda things will grab a lot of attention from fans. Another positive thing about him is that he carries a good attitude with him. That's something I really like to see out of NBA players, especially stars.
Choosing #2 and #3 was pretty hard. Both are good players, no doubt, but if I had to redo the 2010 draft, I'd choose Boogie over Wall. I really like Wall and I think he's a fantastic point guard, but Cousins just seems to be improving his game at a much faster rate. Right now, I think we can all agree that he's an offensive beast. Last year, at just 23 years old, DMC was putting up some crazy numbers. 23/12/3 for a 4th year player is very imposing. I know his team hasn't had much success over the years, but I guarantee you... if you surrounded him with better players last season, the Kings could've been fighting for a playoff spot. This year the Kings definitely look a lot better and Cousins has been outstanding.
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
Cousins->Wall->George.
George getting a little overrated. Cousins slightly underrated.

Avery Bradley... Shved and Lin were undrafted from the same class.
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
Does depend on your needs. Cousins is beasting right now but Wall is playing like one of the best PG
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
1. Cousins
2. George
3. Wall
I like Wall, but PG's don't win championships.
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
George is the obvious answer, then I would go with Wall over Cousins due to attitude problems.
This might have been an acceptable answer a full year or two ago.
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
1- DMC
2- Wall
3- George
Always go with the bigman especially when it's a skilled low post threat like DMC. Attitude problems can be dealt with accordingly and as a GM that's part of your job.
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
If I were answering this a year ago, I'dve said George. And I did believe he was among the five best players in the league. I would've taken him over James Harden.
But a broken leg for a guy that athletic is tough. And not only that, but you lose a year of contract service with him.
I've also become more and more fond of Wall the more thought I've given him. He's a beast defensively, and he creates more valuable shots than any other player in the league (there was an impressive breakdown last year of the number of corner threes that Wall produced for his teammates last year). I said at the time and still believe I'd take him over Lillard.
I do agree that generally bigs are more valuable. And as the league gets smaller they should become moreso. But also as the league gets smaller you're more inclined to need smalls.
Boogie has had personality issues aplenty. But he is developing at a spectacular rate. It's not uncommon for bigs, especially ball skill type bigs, to take a touch longer to develop. I also know that Boogie has been lambasted for his defense, but there are tons of metrics out there that have shocked people with how effective he seems to be there in spite of some of the eyeball tests (it can be that way when you get beat down the court for a layup solely because you're griping at an official).
All three players are very different, but similar in overall value in my opinion. But knowing what we know now, losing the year service at a max level deal pushes George down. Especially if you believe next year you're not gonna get max level performance either as he works his way back, mentally as much as physically. The other two are really tough to make a call on. I don't think Cousins has a true max deal, which I think lessens the variability in his raises moving forward with the cap, which may be just enough to put him over the top for me. But I also know that I can build around Wall in a variety of ways, but I'm not sure how Boogie works if you don't make him the offensive centerpiece.
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
So you just want us to rank them? Drafting is very preference based. I mean Kahn was a GM during that draft.
1. Wall
2. Boogie
3. PG13
4. Bledsoe
5. Favors
6. Monroe
7. Lance
8. Hayward
9. Sanders
10. Bradley
11. Vazquez
12. Patterson
13. Davis
14. Turner
15. Booker
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
Starting from scratch I would go with a Cousins.
Knowing what I know now I would take PG even though he's injured cause he's had the most success and he's improved more than the other 2.
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
1. Cousins
2. George
3. Wall
I like Wall, but PG's don't win championships.
Every team to win a championship has had a PG:roll:
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
Paul George
Demarcous Cousins
John Wall
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
Clearly the best 3 players. Rank em in the order you'd take em.
Paul
demarcus
Wall.
Re: Redo 2010 Draft: John Wall vs Demarcus Cousins vs Paul George
I think I might take Wall. His defense and playmaking are obvious but I think his leadership qualities are underrated. He is exactly the type of PG you want to have on a winning basketball team and there have been games where he really galvanizes his team and pushes the over the edge (see OT last night). It is harder to build a winning team around a PG but it's not impossible.
It's really hard to pass on Boogie and PG tho. The league is dominated by versatile wings now and PG proved that he can go toe-to-toe with players like Lebron in a playoff series. However, he is a bit of a question mark right now with the injury.
Boogie is a legit C who is dominant offensive and good enough defensively. I think his personality issues are a little overblown but still a concern. The margin between the 3 is small enough for me to feel comfortable with either but gut call I'd go with Wall right now.
