Re: Official 2022 MLB Season Discussion Thead
Lol, until he can prove he can pitch in the big leagues, him being the best pitcher in the world is just another one of your awful takes.
He threw the first perfect game in the NPB in over 25 years. Then did it again the next game. His fastball blows Gerrit Coles out of the water.
Is baseball another sport you pretend to know anything about? :oldlol:

It's the Japanese league you twit, are you trying to argue that the Japanese league is on par with MLB? That's like some striker on an MLS team going on all time tear, 2 goals a game for a whole season and trying to argue he's the best in the world, no you idiot, until you go up against the best in one of Europe's top leagues (English Premier League, Calcio Serie A, LA Liga, Bundesliga etc) and do it there can you even entertain to make such a claim. How many sure things from Japan came over to the Majors only to be meh? Daisuke Matsuzaka, ring a bell? I'm not saying that kid is a scrub, but to call him the best pitcher in the world because he's raking it in Japan is a stupid take, and throwing faster than Cole doesn't mean shit, plenty of guys throw faster than him, doesn't necessarily make them better pitchers...FOH son. Figures why you stan LeBron, because you're a dope.

He has the longest perfect inning streak in professional baseball history and if you've watched him you know he'd be dominating in the MLB too. Shut the **** up

What part of MLB hitters > NPB hitters are you not understanding? Until he proves he can dominate the best of the best, calling him the best pitcher in the world is retarded.
Re: Official 2022 MLB Season Discussion Thead
Sox with a gritty win over the Jays last night 2-1. Gonna need those type of outings from Eovaldi regularly with our pitching staff.

Until you watch him play, study his pitches, and understand that striking out hitters is harder in NPB and he manages to strike out 13 straight in a perfect game, then threw another perfect game his next outing , you'll realize he's the best. This isn't some random guy who gut lucky. He's a well known phenom with ridiculous stuff that's better than what DeGrom when healthy or anyone else is dealing. 17 perfect innings straight is unheard of in professional ball.
You're just a dumb bitch...
Re: Official 2022 MLB Season Discussion Thead
Scherzer's impeccable outing got me thinking. We are seeing the last few dominant pitchers to pitch in MLB. SP's are pitching less and less innings due to a variety of reasons, but the longevity that guys like Scherzer, Verlander, and Kershaw have won't be seen for a while I believe. No more 300 game winners that's for sure. Guys like Scherzer and Verlander were a new breed of dominant pitchers that surpass 3000 strikeouts, but don't come close to 300 wins. Even Kershaw, at age 34 only has 187 Wins. Outside of these 3 guys, I can't tell you who looks to be a sure Hall of Famer. Maybe Gerrit Cole.

There’s plenty of dominant pitchers. They’re just asked to do different things now.

And you're an absolute moron for thinking NPB batters are on par with MLB. Until he does all those great things at the highest level, he can't be considered the best pitcher in the world. I'm done with you, moron.

He's the first one to do it in that league in 25+ years... then did it the next fukking game. Watch the guy play before you start blasting off obvious things. Nobody said the NPB Is as good as MLB. But saying they have the best pitcher in the world isn't remotely a reach. That Ohtani guy is pretty good too.. I guess you would've been saying the same thing about him. Sucks until he does it in MLB... Watch him pitch dick head

Name some of them. And asked to do different things? WTF are you talking about?? :oldlol:

I was sure Degrom was gonna be a HOF'er with 1 more Cy... which for him would have been easy if he could stay healthy. He was off to a historic start last year, but turns out throwing harder than everyone else... is detrimental to your arm nowadays. I'm actually pleasantly shocked Mets are still good without him. In days past, pre-Cohen, Mets would have been done already if their best pitcher got hurt :lol Mets might actually be good

You really want me to name the great pitchers? :lol
They're asked to do different things than pitchers 20-30-40 years ago were asked to do. Even 10 years ago. That's an absolute fact.
You're not expected to throw 8 innings and save the bullpen anymore. Velocity around the league is higher than ever because these dudes are now going in and blowing as fast as they can to then pass it off to the bullpen. The analytics are finally catching up and the fact that the 3rd time through the order shows a serious uptick in opponent numbers across the board means now as a starter you're expected to dominate the first 18 hitters. Starting is more of a sprint than a marathon.
There's no more throwing 80% in the first couple innings to preserve yourself to go 9.
Having said all of that...there are plenty of dudes who start games now that are incredible.

He's nasty but you need to chill. Major league baseball is completely different. People strike out more here but there's a reason why. Pitchers are better for starters.
But the power over here is worlds different. Players in the MLB sacrifice strikeouts for power sometimes. When you have no power then all you have is putting the ball in play.
He very well could and probably will be an elite pitcher in the MLB. But we don't know yet so don't call him the best in the world.

Study his pitches. Nobody throws what he throws. 17 straight perfect innings
We have no idea if he will stay healthy or not. But if he does he's absolutely gonna dominate the MLB. And he's the best in the world right now. Just do some research
