If Klay Thompson took 30 shots per game, he would lead the league in shot attempts and usage WITHOUT dominating the ball..

Like I said it's not about FGA or a stat like USG% but rather the amount of time these guys have the ball in their hands on offense on each possession. Also, pace is significantly higher in today's NBA and Lakers have been top 5 at it in all but 2 of the Bron seasons.

Kobe and MJ mostly played a traditional SG role. The one year MJ didn't in the 80s he averaged 8 assists a game and that's when he was stat chasing on a mediocre team. Bron's longevity is GOATed but he was also very lucky to come at a perfect time for a player of his build. The increase in 3PA and pace has helped him age gracefully.

And he needed to "stat-chase" much more because his cast wasn't "mediocre" - his cast was the worst in the league according to Jordan-hater "Thinking Basketball" - they say that Jordan had a zero percentile cast from 88-90', which means that 0% of casts were better than his...

Pippen averaged 14 ppg and 3 apg, so that's a bad cast, not "mediocre".. Every other team in the league had at least 2 scorers, while the Bulls were the only team with just 1.. There was no stat-chasing - MJ was simply carrying the worst cast in the league, as the stats show very clearly... Every other team had more help than him.

He was aware of his assist numbers is what I mean. He was trying to get those assist numbers. Just means that he could've had way more triple-doubles if he cared about it. Bron clearly does at this stage of his career.

So what you're telling is you wish to modify the definition of a ball hog to something that fits your agenda better? Well no shit. It's a trade off that is inconsequential because it's a style of play thing. One way let's your teammates hold the ball more but not get as many shots and the other gets your guys more shots at expense of holding the ball. Bbbut....ballhog!

No I'm saying you're more likely to get assists if the ball is in your hands a lot on every possession. You ever played 2K or NBA Live? That's how some of these modern guys play the game. Luka, Westbrook & Harden are the worst examples of this, and no surprise they get a bunch of triple-doubles as a result.

Well that much is obvious isn't it? Holding the ball mods gives more chances for assists the same way shooting the ball more gives more opportunities for scoring. It sucks that this even has to be said out loud lol. Yes Kobe and Jordan could average more assists if they held the ball more, but they also could have more assists if they passed instead of shooting as much.
