Re: The LeBron fanbase is dying down
Said it years ago that the longer LeBron will be removed from the league, the worse his legacy will be. He's not going to be forgotten, he's just going to be remembered as the guy who lost a ton of finals despite all the help and shortcuts he's taken.
I didn't expect the downfall of his legacy to happen THIS fast lol.

LeBron will still have fans no matter what, but you're right in there being a recent tidal wave of criticism. And it only is going to get worse. I don't think history will be too kind on LeBron quite frankly. They certainly wont be in his pocket like Nick Wright :lol

You need to come to terms with reality :)
Gonna be a sad wait for you guys then. Hes played 20 plus years and there is still no clear successor. Sports TV is basically centered around if he farted today or not. You guys here make daily topics about him still. Hes not going anywhere anytime soon, he'll still be torturing you guys dreams in 2040.
Meh he'll be largely forgotten after a few years of retirement. This board used to fixate 24/7 on Kobe for many years, by the time he was retired for a couple of years he was already very much out of sight, out of mind until his tragic passing (RIP).
Most kids today just think Shaq is a goofy guy on Inside the NBA, they don't have any idea how dominant of a player he was. They don't understand how big of a marketing draw he was either. There was a time in the 90s you couldn't turn on the TV without seeing a Shaq Pepsi or Reebok or whatever commercial. League will eventually just revolve around Shai, Wemby, Luka, and the NBA probably is hoping that Cooper Flagg becomes a big star. Someone else will come and take the mantle, they always do.
Certain players that endure years/decades after retirement is incredibly rare, it's like Jordan, Muhammad Ali (and his charisma/personality was a 11/10), maybe sorta Babe Ruth and even Babe Ruth I think has faded out, kids today don't give a fart about Babe Ruth. Gretzky in hockey but hockey isn't that popular in the US anyway.

Shaq & Kobe weren't seriously debated as the GOAT, LeBron is.
Kobe also retired right when the NBA was peaking. The league had LeBron in his prime and a dynasty Warriors team years after Kobe retired, which made it easier for some people to move on.
The way the league is now, with no superstar that attracts the casuals the way LeBron does, and overall decline in overall product, LeBron will be talked about for decades after he retires.

Lebron isn't seriously debated as the GOAT. The only people who think he is are a handful of Bronie fluffers and ESPN contributors.
Truth hurts.

To add to my Kobe point, he was also the worst player in the league his last 3 seasons. If he retired while he was playing at a similar level LeBron is today, he probably would have been discussed more.

You never get tired of showing your ignorance.
Just like you don't know what an advanced stat is, you don't know what the word "consensus" means.
One person's "project" does not produce consensus. Mass opionion produces consensus.
So read it and weep, homie.

I don't care about "consensus", Kobe is top 10 all-time if you are going around making polls where casuals can vote.
The fact that you are debating me just shows LeBron is in the GOAT debate.
Truth hurts.

Uh Kobe was definitely getting GOAT talk around 2009, this who forum was first a Kobe-circle jerk, "can Kobe overtake Jordan!" stuff, and then only became one for LeBron (lol) later. Once both of them are gone, this board will probably fizzle out into nothingness.
Shaq was more heavily marketed than any of these modern players too, Shaq was like the sports equivalent of a massive summer blockbuster movie coming into the NBA, he was everywhere. You couldn't go any where in the mid-90s without seeing someone wearing an Orlando Magic Shaq or Penny jersey, that franchise went from a nothing joke to being one of the most merchandised teams in pro sports right next to the Bulls and Dallas Cowboys and Yankees for the time Shaq was there.
Magic and Bird are other examples, 2-3 years after their retirement most people didn't give a crap about them and they saved the freaking league and were the face of the league for an entire decade on the most storied teams. By '95 good luck getting a kid who wanted to wear a Magic or Bird jersey instead of Grant Hill or Jordan or Penny or Shaq or Kemp.

Kobe was more discussed if he can crack the top 10 or not around that time. I was here. Only people who called him GOAT were crazed Kobe stans who probably didn't even believe it themselves. I never once saw a serious list having Kobe top 2 or even top 5 while he was playing. LeBron is #1 or #2 on basically any list that comes out now.
Now you have realgm making projects crowning LeBron GOAT and some lists like this have him #1
https://*********.com/lists/79-greatest-nba-players-ever-*********-list/
Kobe never reached that level.
edit: why the fck does ISH have hoops.hype censored? :oldlol:
