Should've went with Barons. Uniforms were way better to work with, the logo could've been tweaked. I mean really WTF are you going to have a logo for thunder? A lightening bolt? It's Thunder not lightening. A dark a** rain cloud? LOL
I like it,
my only problem with it is the word thunder.
Not only is it so plain and boring, but it looks bad on top of where it says OKC.
I like it though its not bad. there are worse logos.
I agree. The word Thunder looks like it was done with WordArt from PowerPoint. I'm wondering if they purposely made it bland and generic so they could change it later without being stuck to a certain theme. Just think of the evolution the Jazz logo has undergone over the years...

that logo reminds me of the bobcats logo...
corny and generic
seems like this franchise is gonna be all about business
I think the logo is boring and cheap.
Fan reaction to Oklahoma City team logo
:wtf: That is my reaction.
Holy ****. That "reaction" from the people in the room says it all, no comments needed.
Seriously...I have seen more joy at a funeral. Look around and watch the expressions on the faces you can see when the logo is introduced. You can see momentary shock followed by people immediately trying to just do the polite thing and cheer.
This wasn't a team I was going to root for now matter how cool their gear and logo looked, but damn, I feel a bit bad for the players and any decent OKC fan.
what pisses me off even more is that they're using WARRIORS colors AND their mascot name. what gives??
Haha that presentation. They couldn
Worst team logo and name in the current NBA. The logo looks rushed and had absolutely no creativity involved. An elementary art class could draw up something better if you offered them a candy bar.
What a shame.
the name and logo sucks! serious it looks like an ABA logo.
The logo sucks
Hmm...the Logo isn't bad...but it isn't good either. With all that time you'd think they come up with a better logo.
I think I'll get used to it.
i think they will change it before anyone gets used to it. give it one season and it will be something else.
absolutely awful. it really looks cheap and like kids made it. i cant believe an actual nba team put together (or hired) a group of professionals to make this piece of crap. ive seen fans make ones that are 1000000 times better.
has anyone posted the fan made one with the buffalo on it? thats far better.
ok found it:

much better IMO. if a fan can make this why cant a multi million dollar nba franchise hire a team of professionals to do better?
I hate to break it to you, but you can't actually see thunder...Now if they had an audio file linked to the logo, that would be sweet.
obviously I am talking about lightning...the thing that causes thunder
some lighting bolts...a cloud with lightning....ANYTHING
instead they picked the most generic thing possible...a damn bball :ohwell:
I was just reading how they selected the colors. It is retarded. Blue because of the state color, but then orange and yellow because of there sunsets. So their named after Thunder with the colors of a sunset. I'm not used to thinking of beautiful sunsets at the time that thunder is occurring.

Holy ****! Is that true? I guess it is, man what a lame idea.

Those logos arent even good, but are still way better than OKC's.
Now that it's official, and you've seen the team logo (front page of insidehoops, or see their official site here), what do you think of it?
Look at it for a little while and digest it, before reacting.
UPDATE: That first version was a quick photo edit by me. Here's an official version:

Look, I'm sure it's great that the owner's niece is getting her Graphic Design degree from ITT tech as we speak - but really, a franchise logo should be left to professionals.

hey! tiffany bennett is doing her best!
No offense to WNBA teams, but that is exactly what the logo and name remind me of.
Did somebody forget to tell Clay Bennet that theres a team in the NBA that uses lightning bolts in their logo and use basically the same color scheme that he picked?
With this logo they will take over the WNBA.

But that's not enough
I am shocked there is no actual "THUNDER" in the logo

just OKC on top of a bball
no inspiration went into that logo at all
Now I know why everyone thinks Texans are morons in this message board. Come on Prime, you gotta represent better than that, lol.

for real.
for a second i thought i was reading from a political convention speech there is so much BS spewing from Bennett.
“We think the logo is classic in its style,” said team chairman Clay Bennett. “We think it's powerful in its design. We think it evokes energy. We think the word Thunder is displayed with simplicity and dignity. And the colors represent much about Oklahoma.
“Our primary color blue is the color of our state flag. This is very much an Oklahoma organization. The sunset is red and orange. Not too red. Not too orange. And the beautiful sun is reflected by yellow.”
“We just felt it connected,” Bennett said. “We liked the name. We felt it reflected the identity we hope to establish for the team. And thought the word connected to Oklahoma in an effective way, a word of power and strength and clarity. It was a favorite early on. Thunder was the leader for a long time.”
“We are thrilled with the creative design,” Bennett said. “It's an exhilarating day. We're very proud. We hope the fans are proud. And we hope to make them proud.”
“We are honored and humbled that Thunder joins the NBA family,” Bennett said. “We will do all we can to live up to the privilege and responsibility. The season is upon us. Great days lie ahead. Congratulations all. And go Thunder.”
So he somehow thinks this is a creative design that looks powerful.... The worst name from the list was the favorite the whole time so Bennett himself must have come up with it. Who is he congratulating anyway? His lawyers that helped him steal a team?

While the Bobcat logo is far from the best, at least the Bobcat logo has a bobcat in it. OKC's logo looks like a painters pallet w/ two pencil brushes on it. maybe they let middle school students design this. It is minor league.
Nobody likes it.

Someone should fix up the colors on this forum.
