The Blair Witch Project scared the **** outta me. I actually found it incredibly boring, but those last 10 minutes when they're in the house, I was like "OMG GET THE F*CK OUTTA THERE!!!!!" One of the creepiest endings ever.
The movie wasn't scary to me at all.Just a couple of students wandering in the forest. But i agree on the ending though, it's scary as ****.And that shaky camera makes it even more scary.

The ending scarred the living piss out of me, the entire movie was so boring.
But for some reason at the end I felt like I was the one in that forrest, I even hid behind my girl like a pansy. That scene shook me bad.
it it it it it it it it it it
damn that clown
he is scary
Sleepy Hollow is the recent Horror Film that i watched, and I think Christopher Walken is the best Headless Horsemen that was ever featured in a film.

Walken starred in a movie called the Dead Zone directed by my favorite director David Cronenberg, and in one scene, he says that one of his favorite books is the Sleepy Hollow. I just think that's a cool little fact, since he stars in the movie many years later.

I bought this for 5 bucks at Walmart the other day (in the bargain bin), in the spirit of Halloween. Picked this one up mostly because I couldn't find any of the first few "Freddys"... and sort of because Saw is also in it's fifth sequel...
My girlfriend and I watched it and both agreed it was pretty bad... but pretty good at the same time.... certainly not as good as the first one.
Freddy pervading this chick's dreams - through her unborn child's dreams!
The special effects were top notch. Some surreal, gruesome, stuff I tell ya. Krueger has to have the best one liners in the horror flick genre. I always used to have nightmares of him as a kid, but would always come to realize Freddy is such a jokester. He really has a sense of humor in these films (albeit sadistic), which is why he's definitely my favorite. Not just some mute slasher, moping around (which does have it's place, but not quite my cup of tea). He's quite the opposite. Agile, outgoing, an entertainer... but at the same time, creepy as sh!t.
The story and acting were ridiculous, and all the "highschoolers" looked liked they were 24 years old in real life... but that kind of stuff is to be expected out of the fifth sequel of "Nightmare on Elm Street", released in 1989... I will say though that some of the fade in/fade outs, other camera angles and editing, were very clever and dynamic. Something you don't really see today in, say, horrors like The Messengers or The Eye, where it's all so mainstream and predictable.
And the last horror flick that genuinely scared me and made me feel a bit on edge, was The Orphanage (Orfanato, El)... It got sort of lost in a year full of solid films, but it's worth checking out if you haven't already seen it.

Where has this been all my life?
Why is the Ring on that list? It's about a lil girl that kills you after you watch a ****ing VHS tape. First of all, ***** this is 08, you aint gettin many victims if you're only on VHS. Step your game up, get digital. Second of all, it's a little girl. Tell that lil ho to go sit in time out and shut the **** up before you take your belt off. Third of all, even if it wasn't a little girl, it's easily avoidable if you don't watch the ****ing video. Simple as that. Fourth of all, say you're the unlucky son of a ***** that rented Bio-Dome at your local Blockbuster and for some reason that tape was in there, then your phone rings (I always wondered, if she only calls house phones, I'd be straight, cuz I never answer the house phone, and if she didn't give me the warning that I was gonna die in a week or whatever, she couldn't kill me, cuz I didn't know that I was being timed yet. I bet she'd be the typea ***** to call private on a cell phone too though, so I still wouldn't answer, and I'd cuss her out for callin private cuz I hate when people do that ****.), and you find out that you're gonna die cuz somebody replaced Bio-Dome with an even worse film, why wouldn't you just man up and destroy the tape? Even if you can't avoid your fate (which, as illustrated earlier, you should be able to cuz it's a little ****ing girl) at least you prevent others from watching it. Because you know the first thing that happens when you end up dead is people start goin through your ****, and one of your friends finds "Bio-Dome" and says "Oh I love this movie" and starts to watch it and then a week later they're dead too.
In conclusion, **** The Ring.
 :applause: repped for that

  I remember writing this. I still don't like the movie. Or any of the other Japanese adaptions of movies where they're apparently terrified of children. I'd take my belt off so gotdamn quick, change the whole villian in the movie right then and there. Hit her so damn hard for ****in up my TV and tryin to kill me with that ****ty ass home video that she'd think her name was Toby. Don't get mad because Bob Saget said your home video wasn't funny, it just sucked, and then wanna kill people cuz of it, make a better video you dumb *****. lol@you *****, Soulja Boy gets paid when people watch his terrible videos, you just get laughed at and emotional and wanna go kill them. Weak sauce.
Classic Horror Films >>> Modern Horror Films. I think Dawn of the Dead 2004 is the best horror movie in the last 20 years.
Classic Horror Films >>> Modern Horror Films. I think Dawn of the Dead 2004 is the best horror movie in the last 20 years.
There's been some other classics made this era as well:
The Mist
Martyrs
28 Days Later
The Descent
REC
The Loved Ones
And many more
I do agree that there's certain elements from the 70s and 80s that haven't been matched. And we then have to include the monsters from the past eras, eras that brought us timeless monsters such as Freddy, Jason, Michael, Leatherface, etc.etc. the closest thing to that is the dude from Saw.
I thought The hills have eyes remake was pretty good though

It's a splatter type of film, but outside of that it sucks big time. I list that movie with the Wrong Turn series. they have some good kills (splatter) but it sucks overall.
Woman in black is well worth watching. Scared the shit out of me!

I thought Insidious was a good horror movie. But yes, I'd say the Dawn of the Dead remake was a damn solid zombie movie.
Gotta thank the thread starter for introducing me to the Tombs of the Dead series damn I consider myself a bit of a horror junkie but I've never come across it. Love those atmospheric types of horror movies (Also love the Italian Zombi 2 and Carpenter's apocalypse trilogy of The Thing, Prince of Darkness, and Into the Mouth of Madness).
On a side note, has anyone seen the trailer for Sinister with Ethan Hawke? It's getting decent reviews and is meant to be very scary (although cheesy) similar to Insidious (which I enjoyed). The trailer looked cool and the concept was fairly original yet still traditionally disturbing, definitely an 80s style film.
In a time when movies in general seem to pump out cliche after boring cliche, at least some original horrors come out every so often (especially during the fall months).

Would post this in the Anime thread, but thought it would be a better fit here.

Ive just seen a billboard for it. Do you know when it's supposed to be released? Billboard looked interesting.

I love that movie. James Wan had some great ideas. It's probably one of the scariest movies of all time.

Totally agree. Great choice. I watch this movie every October. Eventhough I hate fast zombies, I love this film.
I hate The Ring/The Grudge type films, possession movies, and M Night shit.
The Mist was great. Darabont film that genuinely scared Stephen King of his own work.

Love the Mist.
It wasn't a perfect film, I had gripes with it, but overall loved it.
Just saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZNVPiyl_ag
Go ahead and start laughing and name calling, this shit still looks interesting, it's been getting great reviews.
And….

I hate it when I see a trailer of a film I want to watch, but later forget about it entirely. At the moment I'm trying to remember some horror films that were supposed to be released months ago, but I forgot all about them.
Luckily there's an app for that, and I'll be using this since my fav genre is gonna burst with releases:

Dawn of the Dead 2004 is the best modern day zombie film. Halloween is less than 18 days. Going to watch some Horror Movie Marathons.
Best Halloween Themed Movie.

Really enjoyed it enjoy to own it.
I can't quite remember who recommended it but it's definitely a staple for years to come during Halloween.
Just watched Jennifer's Body. Megan Fox at her prime.

I dreamed something reaally creepy few nights ago, it kinda had Stranger Things theme/vibe to it and I think it would make a damn good horror. I need to work out a bit of a story around it and get to writing lol
