Re: Allen Iverson out for rest of season
One of the worst posts ever regarding the NBA. No player is bigger than a team, and especially no player is bigger than the league or basketball. What a joke. AI is a cancer and he is SELFISH. His pride and ego is way too big for anyone, let alone a player who's on his fairwell tour soon.
My post is the truth...
These guys get paid millions to play BASKETBALL. You think the team matters to them? Be real, the fact that we're all sitting here wasting our days on the internet discussing what these guys do for a living shows how trivial all this really is. If he doesn't feel like he's be utilized correctly let him sit. He's a grown man, he can decide what he wants to do with his life. If it cost his salary in the long run, so be it. I'm sure he's already aware of that. The league gave these guys power by paying them tens of millions of dollars. If they don't want divas, don't pay and treat these guys like they're Mariah Carey or Madonna.

The AI drama continues. I've lost so much respect for him. He used to be one of my favorite players of all time, up till last season. This is just sad.

Re: Breaking News: Iverson out for season
You people who thought he was gonna be resigned....i lol at your general direction. He went there for his expiring contract, THATS IT!
Exactly. Dumars has enough sense to know better than to resign iverson. He knew the team he had wasn't good enough to beat Boston or the Cavs to he decided to rebuild using Iverson's expirer.
Props to Dumars for putting iverson in his place. I didn't like the Pistons when Dumars was playing there but i always like Dumars. He could flat out play and didn't showboat or mouth off in the press. He was a true pro and he gave Jordan fits.
I am going to laugh when he renounces Iverson's Bird Rights and lets him try to find a deal on his own.

It would be funny if he joined the Lakers to win that eluded title.

Re: Allen Iverson out for rest of season
from former MVP, scoring champ, to a walk out that hates being a benchwarmer. his approach to the game is a total opposite of someone like a Robert Horry or Manu Ginobili who don't mind coming off the bench and make an immense impact to the game. It's sad, and AI was one of my favorite players too.

Re: Allen Iverson out for rest of season
Iverson fans are getting desperate and they're just too funny. Why is it so hard to face the truth when you're supposed to regress with age? He's not an elite player anymore, speaking of undersized 2s, Jason Terry and Ben Gordon are way better than Iverson, and even Randy Foye is better than Iverson as of now. He's a chucker who shoots very low percentage from the field, who doesn't defend, who doesn't distribute the ball, his days as a starter on a playoff team are over.

Re: Allen Iverson out for rest of season
Wow, Dumars has really done nothing good in the last 5 years other than the sheed trade. What did he think was going to happen? He traded chauncey to move stuckey to starter, so he expected rip or AI to come off the bench? Right... Both sides feel hate torwards the other. AI killed the Pistons and the Pistons killed AI. Bottom line is Pistons fans took things for granted. 6 straight conference finals appearances wasn't good enough. So Joe D tried to fix the team and this happens, if it aint broke... Also, Curry is a terrible coach who was given too much responsible too early. Which also makes Joe D bad for not firing him.
-
Re: Allen Iverson out for rest of season
Now a day, you cannot win with just 1 team. Every winning team has almost like 2 teams in it. Starters and bench squad. If starters make lead but bench squad keeps on blowing it up, you cannot win anything in that sense. Everybody needs both teams to play well. Even Kobe, Pau, and Lamar all get their chance of responsibility in leading the "bench team". I don't see what's AI fuss about playing it first or later with the bench. You cannot win with just starter team.

yeah drafting guys like Stuckey and Maxiel were terrible moves. Do you think he should have resigned Ben Wallet?
All they could really do was improve their bench because their starters were getting to the conference finals every year.
What did he think was going to happen?
He thought Iverson's contract would expire at the end of the season, giving them a lot of cap space. That is all.

You do realize that Joe Dumars had been a marionette for Bill Davidson, right…
Joe Dumars has made all transactions on this team in relation to the salary cap. The Pistons are one of only like 3 teams that have never paid luxury tax. Bill Davidson has been successful because he has been frugal with money… the Pistons, Guardian Glass, et cetera…
The philosophy is that loosing in three straight ECFs was not enough for acclaim. Acclaim is realized through championships. No one gives a single solitary fuck about second place in this league. Is it aiming high? Sure. But what do we play this game for? What is it we chase in the league? The championship. People laugh at division titles and Conference championships. So the persona is to go for the gold… the gold ball.
We had been spoiled with these 50 win seasons, central division championships, six straight ECF appearances… but in the end, no one cared…

I laugh every time you post this stuff. Davidson was cheap? LMAO. He funded the Palace HIMSELF. The only owner to ever do that in all of sports. He was the first owner to get his team their own private jet. He was a major philanthropist who donated Hundreds of Millions of Dollars. The Pistons never paid the luxury tax(or at least not that much) because they were smart.
Really you look like a fool for calling the organization cheap. That's the FARTHEST thing from the truth.

Re: Allen Iverson out for rest of season
In the long term, this is best for the Pistons, as they are in rebuilding mode, and this means more minutes and touches for younger players.
Iverson would fit in well with Charlotte as a starter.
I don't see any other team that would want him as a starter. Plenty of teams would want him as a reserve.

Did I say he was "cheap"?
What I said was that he was frugal with money. Bill Davidson doesn't waste money. He takes care of money, thus how he had been able to build his own revolutionary arena, buy his team a plane, et cetera...
What people neglect to see in all his conscious spending ways, is that he had three championship teams (really 4) all the while not wasting money to field such a team.

Pistons Fans
do you realize you pretty much traded the 2004 MVP for nothing now that AI isn't going to play.
You kind of gave him away
Now the Nuggets have the 2nd seed in the West.

Billups for Iverson.
Iverson expires.
Pistons sign Boozer.
Sounds like a well rounded move.

Re: Allen Iverson out for rest of season
Pistons will lose 4-1 in the first round. They are not a good team. They won't magically transform into the 2001 Pistons (apologies if I got the year wrong). It's interesting how Dumars is considered a genius and Kerr is an idiot.. which he is.. but lets face it, they (pistons) made some weird moves. They're cooked, but I'll be rooting for them anyway.
By the way, from a business perspective, it's kind of ridiculous to say that 6 straight ecf appearances are not worth anything. Winning championships is great and should always be the goal, but only 1 team can win.. the idea that the others are all failures is just sports hyperbole.

Re: Allen Iverson out for rest of season
Damnit, I can't stand Iverson myself, but I bought tickets to a damn Knicks-Pistons game just because my younger brother is an AI fan and has never been to an NBA game. Now I'll actually have to watch the damn Knicks play the Pistons, and I won't even have the joy of showing my brother his favorite player.
Makes me like Iverson even less. Wouldnt want the man coming of the bench in Cleveland if he damn well paid us for the priviledge.

They weren't even willing to give him a huge role in that lineup. If you were a former MVP and a future HOFer, would you play for a team like that?

AI to Charlotte on a one year, $7 million deal.

When Iverson makes comments like, "I'll do whatever the team wants" then I think he should do it. Go look up Iverson's press conference introducing AI to the Pistons.

In that press con, I bet he had absolutely no idea that he would be playing second fiddle to Stuckey. I bet he had absolutely no idea that Will Bynum would start over him. I bet he didn't know Rip would be b1tching over deferring to him. I bet he didn't know Rip, Tay and Stuckey would freeze him out on the court (seriously, they were treating him like a f*ckin spot up shooter).
It's one thing to defer to your teammates, and AI did that excellently (maybe too much) the whole season. It's another thing to be outright disrespected despite your efforts to blend in.

what a terrible post. AI defered to no one, took more bad shots than the rest of the team (maybe minus sheed) combined and allowed his defensive assignment to get to the basket at will. He was shut down because he brings nothing to this team except a terrible attitude and a hurt butt.
