I'm stupid. I had the worship expression. I just never activated it. I forgot for these expressions you got to click on the books to set them. I thought they automatically just set themselves. Silly me. I gotta go thru all my books now. Got a shytload.

Re: red dead redemption
New info released...
Rockstar has announced plans to release free downloadable content for upcoming Wild West 'em-up Red Dead Redemption, with the first pack adding co-op gameplay.
The 'Outlaw To The End' pack, which will release in the weeks following the game's launch on May 21st, will add six new multiplayer missions that see 2-4 players storming enemy strongholds, plus new achievements and trophies.
"Multiplayer in Red Dead Redemption offers players a whole new way to encounter the massive open world we've created, but we felt the experience would not be complete without co-op game play," said Rockstar's Sam Houser.
With these missions, we wanted to create new ways for players to share in the experience of engaging with this amazing landscape."
Rockstar also confirmed that a further two add-on packs will be released later in the year.
Ben Feder, CEO of Rockstar's parent company Take Two, said last month that he expects Red Dead Redemption's DLC "to innovate around the DLC business model", telling the world that the company had been given a "tremendous insight" into DLC thanks to GTA IV's Episodes From Liberty City add-ons.
Consider yourself innovated, DLC business model.
Red Dead Redemption launches on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 18th. I expect it'll be one of the best games you'll play this year.
Re: red dead redemption
sounds cool, but i hate all this dlc nonsense, that stuff should have come with the game, better be free
-
Re: red dead redemption
DLC that costs money is pretty lame. Same deal with Hollywood releasing terrible PG13 movies for the masses, and then the "real director's cut with deleted scenes" comes out on DVD, when that was the original movie in the first place.

definitely, unless its something significant like the gta 4 episodes, those are full games that could be packaged stand alone

First DLC is free. The 2 add ons are unknowns. Keep in mind Rockstar is putting this game out. They did GTA4 with 2 new add ons which were basically 2 new games, achievements, multiplayer.

Re: red dead redemption
As someone who didn't have his system online from the get go, I definitely understand the frustration of DLC, even that of the free variety. Especially in a case like this where it's released on the same day as the game. It's not as if this wasn't in development and couldn't have been packaged with the game.
Either way, I'm about as psyched for this game as I've been for any in a while. I have Jury Duty on the 19th, so no work, and the game is released on the 18th. I'm actually looking forward to leaving work early that day, picking up my copy, playing late into the night knowing I can sleep through the jury video for the fourth time. And hoping I get let go at lunch like I have in the past just to sit home and play.

Re: red dead redemption
I do not have a problem with paying for dlc as long as it is worth the price. I am not going to pay for outfits, weapons or gameplay that only last an hour.

This is a decent article about some of the features, with some marginal references to the game's influences.

I can see myself laying story mode more than once because you can be a good guy or bad guy. I want to experience both. Cant wait to see how this multiplayer setup is also. So much to do in this game. Wonder when the list of achievements will drop.
Rockstar rules. After hearing so much good, I want to know whats bad about it.

Re: red dead redemption
Jesus...This game is a dream come true. My favorite things so far that I've read are:
-Map is 3x larger than San Andreas (This is just unreal...)
-Multiplayer actually looks AMAZING, not just acceptable. Usually epic games lose out on multiplayer on certain aspects
-You can build on your reputation like in Fable by doing different tasks
-Details from landscape to actual gameplay like tieing up a person, shooting their legs so they can't escape, plus the graphics, fluidity, etc.
I am definitely going to get this. I was thinking of only having one free roam game and it was going to be Assassins Creed but this one definitely takes the cake.

Re: red dead redemption
I think my only concern at this point is there will be so much that it won't be focused. That I'll never know what I want to do next.
As a completionist type myself, I ran into a bit of that with GTA, like I never wanted to blow off the stupid cousin for a game of darts because I was afraid I'd miss out on something. That game got much better once I learned that you could turn the phone off.
-
Re: red dead redemption
Yeah I think this game will end up being overwheling when it comes to missions. That you dont know what to do first. As you mentioned GTA4 was like that. Get text messages, voice msgs, phone calls, different mission icons on the map. But I enjoyed it tho.
Also liked the part where they said if you are free roaming checking out the landscape, sight seeing that you could potentially get attacked by a wild animal or bandits. I like the sudden surprise of one minute enjoying the view and next you gotta pull out the gun and lay someone or something down. :pimp:

Re: red dead redemption
Game sounds fun. Already bought my copy. Can't wait.

Re: red dead redemption
I read or someone told me they read, that you can let a horse run full out and it takes like 45 mins real time to go across the map. I just hope it doesn't take forever to get where you're going. I am sure it will, because you often had to drive forever IN missions in GTA. I hope there is a 'warp' option like there was in cabs 'Y' button for 360....but not sure what that would apply to in this game, maybe trains and stage coaches.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeak...why wouldnt they apply multiplayer? Ugh. :banghead:
Wait actually you're incorrect. I just searched and there will be multiplayer, its just been hush on what it will be. April 5th they are supposed to reveal it.
i think it would be so awesome to have a western themed multiplayer game where u could become anything u wanted as a career...cowboy/rustler, lawman, outlaw, blacksmith, judge, saloon bartender, etc.
i won't get RDR unless it does have online multiplayer.

It'll have online multiplayer, including a free roam like GTAIV.

It wont have as many game modes as GTA4 did. But it wont be you sitting in a lobby waiting to play with people. You start off in free roam mode to do numerous activities. I believe some things are computer controlled. And unlike free roam in GTA4 where you just roamed the city with no objective, challenge? Here you have tasks and challenges you can complete. So free roam isnt just running around on horseback the entire time. Not that you cant do it but there is actually things to do as well. Which will attract more people. Then you have the organized game modes you can join. Cant remember how many there were tho. But you have your deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag type game which instead of flag its gold bag I believe.
Also during free roam you can end up joining a posse, starting your own or playing with a group of friends. I'll search for articles that are more in depth with what you can do/become. I think you can be an outlaw on the run from sherrifs too.

Re: red dead redemption
cheesed. Whats bad about it? Give us your review SO FAR. I remember plenty of people having trouble with GTA IV when it came out as well
-
Re: red dead redemption
GTA4 is my favorite game on 360 of all time. This plays NOTHING like GTA4. Its too arcady like Saints Row if you ever played that. The gameplay and feel is nothing like the videos showed. Not sure what that is about. Shooting is wack. Cant think of what its called red eye site or something. Should have did away with it entirely. Makes the game unrealistic. Player movement is stiff and retarded. Not much fluidity. Riding horses is the most difficult thing in the game by far. Hard to manuever it. Better off walkin to your destination or riding a train. The good thing is the dialogue in the game. Cut scenes are movie like. But eh so far not much left to be desired. Dont expect GTA4 the Western version. They changed alot of stuff I guess to make it different.
Multiplayer is weird as hell. Confusing and choas. I randomly shot a buzzard and next thing I know I'm throw into some type of gun/shooting challenge game. Couldnt get out. I get on a horse and its someone elses so I get shot at by people until I die basically. No where to hide. I'm used to automatics but this game is oldschool. No shyt western guns duh, but they really blow.
I'd give this a 7 out of 10. The fact I'm hearing posting and not playing should tell u something.
Oh the game freezes too alot when you wander the plains and explore. Maybe a patch is in the works but some things are glitchy as hell. you'd think pushing it back they'd put out a finished product. Wth Rockstar, I had faith in you! :(
