Re: Congrats NBA, you've lost yet another fan(warning long rant ahead)
My thoughts on it are simple....refs should not influence the flow of the game, ever. And I saw them literally changing the very flow, and rhythm throughout tonight's game being extremely whistle heavy, and calling outright ticky tack fouls. Both sides were literally having fouls left and right at one point...and initially it was because (imo) of Ron throwing himself on Pierce early on....So my guess was, they wanted to shut down physical play and keep players in check?
However....why the fu*k do they do that? CALL EACH INDIVIDUAL PLAY AS IT SHOULD BE CALLED. Why are OFFICIALS trying to make a point?
Except that's their friggin job! To manage the game and let the player decide the outcome within the games rules. If a game starts getting too physical they need to start calling more fouls. If a player starts getting too cute with the ball, they can start calling palming. But if a player palms it in the back court with no defenders... what's the sense in calling palming? If they called every single foul on the floor the game would be unwatchable, and the best players would be the ones that ran around carefully obeying the rules rather than the ones that were good at the game. It's a basketball game, not the SAT's. The game is meant to be fluid and dynamic. If a player takes an extra step in the back court when no one is guarding him, what's the sense in calling a travel when neither team benefited? If a defender bumps an offensive player in the paint and causes him to take longer than three seconds in the key, they could call the defender for impeding progress or the offensive player for 3-seconds. Or they could manage the game and call nothing. Sure this leads to some guy sitting at home screaming THREEEEEE SECOOOONDS!!! at the top of their lungs, but that's still better than stopping play for something so minor. People need to stop focusing on the letter of the law and see it as an advantage/disadvantage judgement call.

This.
One bad game with a couple bad calls (both ways). If you stop watching the NBA over this game, then you weren't a real fan to begin with.

Re: Congrats NBA, you've lost yet another fan(warning long rant ahead)
i agree with most of the OP. i'm annoyed the c's lost too. but you could see the celtics trying to sell fouls as much as the lakers. i will admit when pierce sold a foul i didn't mind and when gasol did they same it annoyed the hell out of me. but since the lakers won i guess their fans will forget them all. i'd be the same (and i bet the op would too) if it went the other way :)
but my real gripe is that it was THE most boring game of basketball i have watched all year. what was the point? why didn't they just play freethrow horse and call it a day? not long after allen sat down because of his 5th i stopped watching.
i agree with the op that as a 90s kid when i'd play ball a foul was only called when it was a deliberate forceful strike or push. obviously pro sports need to be more strict then that. but not to the point where the players should be running around in bubble wrap or driving in bumper cars.
i will keep watching the series but hopefully the refs don't slow the game down to a crawl next time.

how are you going to complain when your team actually shot more free throws, got our bigs in foul trouble, on our home court. SMH. Celtics fans are the most spoiled fans in the league they are not happy unless they have a double digit lead in FT advantage.

i'm not happy about the calls that went the celtics way as much as the the calls that went the lakers way. i'm not complaining about the distribution of the freethrows i'm complaining about the fact that to many were called through out the game. i'd rather a nice flowing game as opposed to a game that stop and starts as much as an NFL game.

Officiating was terrible and called too tightly but for the entire game it was both ways. I'm sure any true Celtics fan would tell you they didn't lose because of Allen's fouls. they just got outreobunded and outhustled.
OP is a known Kobe and Lakers hater. It must burn to see them doing well so she had to come out with some bogus like this to keep her peace of mind.

Yea, absolutely no where :wtf:
Mcdonalds has what, about 1000 stores Australia wide if not more.
I lived in the states for 3 years in the early 00's.
USA McDonalds bugers EXACTLY the same as in Australia. Only difference is the US McDonalds sell hotdogs and pizza.
Burger King burgers EXACTLY the same as Hungry Jacks burgers.
There's little to no difference between those 2 establishments and Wendy's/other chain burger take outs in the states so how you came to that conclusion is rather strange.
Btw, McDonalds will make to order, order my creation, The McOcto. 8 patties, 8 pieces of cheese. Eat those and you'll be just like a big fat tub of lard American in no time :lol

Yup, him and Rondo are some of the biggest offensive floppers around. It was a poorly officiated game (5th foul on Allen was the worst IMO) but to pretend that the Laker players are the only ones flopping shows clear bias IMO.

Re: Congrats NBA, you've lost yet another fan(warning long rant ahead)
This is some lame celtic fan crying. The fouls that Ray Allen had called on him were questionable, but he drew 3 against the Lakers that were just as questionable. What about the falling down job Peirce pulled on Kobe? Foul? No!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J_ZA_KdcnE
I don't like the BS anymore than anyone else. The whole attitude in the NBA has changed. Players are geared towards flopping and acting. They dont' all do it but it is pretty prevalent.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysT8RA6JQks
OP should be reminded if he doesn't like this type of basketball, you should blame your boy Peirce, he is the worst culprit of acting.

Re: Congrats NBA, you've lost yet another fan(warning long rant ahead)
If that's your mentality, then I'm glad you are leaving. You really sound immature in your paragraph talking about all of the calls last night. You try to lead-in and phrase it so you don't come off as the biased person you are.
FTs:
Boston- 30/36
Lakers- 24/31
Fouls:
Boston- 28
Lakers-26
Ray/Pierce- 5 each
Kobe/Artest/Gasol- 4 each
Odom- 5
That certainly doesn't represent the horribly one-sided non-call foul-fest that the Lakers put on Boston last night. Watching the game, it certainly didn't either. You hand-picked scenarios that you felt were unjust on ONE side of the ball. Were there some bad calls? Yes. Did it change the result of the game? No. The Lakers played aggressively all night (more-so than the Celtics) while the Celtics simply were not playing well at all. If you can't see that, then YOU don't understand the game of basketball.
Does Gasol flop? Sure, he has, and he did last night, but the foul was called AGAINST him (on KG). Does Fisher? Sure, he has flopped, but he has also taken charges time after time. Most of his "flops" are coming off screens that many could be argued as MOVING screens or where the screen-setter has their leg stuck too far out. And it's laughable, at best, that you try to pin the Lakers as this flopping team when the opponents team has Paul Pierce. It's not entirely PP's fault because he constantly gets rewarded for it with foul calls.
It couldn't be that KG had 4 rebounds the entire game (Of which he DIDN'T have foul trouble). Or the fact that KG, Perk, Sheed, and Big Baby accumulated 14 rebounds, equaling Pau's amount, the entire game. Pau had more offensive rebounds than the entire Celtic's team. The Celtics didn't play hard. Even the Celtic's players are blaming their effort and performance for the loss.
People often reminisce on the past as more favorable and better than what it actually was. I'm not saying this is necessarily your case, but to act like it wasn't a superstars league back in the 90s is asinine. You always hear about MJ's calls and blah blah. Was the league tougher back then? Yes, but to pretend that it was as if they were gladiators in the colosseum compared to a 5 year old's soccer game is a joke. The league has gotten softer, I'm not debating that. I'm simply saying that maybe you should go back and look at the body of work (As in more than select clips, like full games/series) before getting on your high-horse and talking about how call "X" would not of even been looked at back then and laughed off as a foul.
Also, give me a break. The KG on Dwight thing was absolutely ridiculous. He was smashing his forearm, twice within a few seconds. Should it be a flagrant foul? No, but by DEFINITION it could arguably be so:
A flagrant foul-penalty (1) is unnecessary contact committed by a player against an opponent.
A flagrant foul-penalty (2) is unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent. It is an unsportsmanlike act and the offender is ejected immediately.
It would be a shame to see that happen, especially in a playoff game and I wouldn't want that to happen.
Should it of been a technical? Arguably so. He was putting his body into it and hitting him with his forearm, blatantly obvious.
If you like NCAA basketball better, great. Go watch that, but don't spew ignorant shit like "It's all about the love of the game. It isn't about money." Are you kidding me? That is the most tired, cliche, and ignorant thing that gets constantly recycled by people like you. You think guys like Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Paul Pierce, etc get to the level they are out because they don't love the game? They don't have to dive on the ground, out of bounds, etc to save a point. They could just go out there, shoot their 15-20 shots a game and get paid. But no, these guys have the desire to be the best and it shows on the court. They play both sides of the ball, spend the off-season working their asses off trying to become better and stay in great shape. Kobe, after his 13th NBA season went to Hakeem to get a better post-game, but he only did that for the money. You don't think the NCAA has interests of their own? Maybe you don't see it, maybe you don't care, or maybe you don't think it is as prevalent, but there have been plenty of games with questionable calls when the high-market teams like Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UNC, etc are in play. They don't try to promote superstars? All we heard about during the season was John Wall this, John Wall that. In the promos, it was ALL about John Wall.
So, if you don't want to watch the NBA anymore, then leave.

Re: Congrats NBA, you've lost yet another fan(warning long rant ahead)
The OP is a f*cking clown, he always whines like a bitch in Laker gamethreads. The NBA would be glad to get rid of a "fan" like him. Nice to see not even one person is taking him seriously.
The thing is, the Lakers would've won anyway...no doubt about that. But what the refs did was take the excitement out of the game and try to make it all about them. I was waiting to watch a classic battle between the 2 teams...instead, the entire game was controlled by the refs. That son of a bitch Joey Crawford can't handle it if all the attention is not on him. I don't understand how the league could allow him to officiate a NBA Finals game? He should've been fired years ago.

1. The Celtics aren't his team.
2. Fouls don't equal freethrows, and the fouls were almost even.
3. Our wings were in foul trouble.
4. You only see maybe 3 really shitty Celtics fans around, spudgay, kg5mvp, and maybe another. There seem to be very few Celtics fans around, yet you act like they troll the place. If anyone trolls the place it's Lakers/Kobe/LeBron fans.
