Re: A Rant Thread
For this offense to work Amare HAS to start at the 5. With Mozgov out there we lose all the mismatches. Plus it clogs the paint which ruins our pick and roll game and forces Amare out of the block.
We need a stretch 4, and more ballhanding in the backcourt because so far it doesn't look like Felton can get it done alone.
With Moz at the 5 and Chandler at the 2 we're too slow to run on teams and don't have the spacing/shooters/ballhandling to get anything done in the halfcourt.
A lineup of
Felton
Walker/Fields (ultimately Azubuike)
Gallo
Chandler
Amare
doesn't really give up that much size. Chandler did a good job on KG last year and I like him much more at the 4 than the 2. Gallo is 6'10 and can help on the boards (speaking of Gallo, I think it's time to start getting him ready to play the 4). Amare is not David Lee, he's still a poor defender but he contests shots and gets his blocks.
The offense would flow much better with a smaller lineup.

Re: A Rant Thread
I think when 'Buike is hopefully healed...
Felton '
Buike
Wilson
Galli
Amare
That's the way to go. Until Mr Walsh can upgrade us more.

I think it'd be Gallo at 3 and Chandler at 4.
Anyways you guys have Kelenna in great consideration, let's hope he's really good (I don't know him).

Re: A Rant Thread
I heard Azabuike could miss up to 2 months of the regular season.
I really want to see this line up...
Felton/Douglas
Azabuike/Mason Jr
Gallo/Chandler
Stoudemire/Randolph
Mozgov/Turiaf
With Chandler and Randolph gettin significant minutes OTB.

Chandler and Azabuike is really a toss up. Now that I think about it your probably right. Chandler should start. He's having an impressive pre season and we shouldn't rush Azabuike back from injury. Im just curious to see Azabuike play.

Re: A Rant Thread
I'm getting really annoyed by this sh-t we see every game.
First things first, fire Mike D'Antoni. He really doesn't know what to do and he is limiting STAT's potential in NY by keeping him out of the paint. He is one of the worst (if not the worst) defensive coach in the League.
Raymond Felton hasn't looked good and he's been outplayed at his own position by 2nd year "combo guard" Toney Douglas. We payed a lot of money to get him to play here, I was happy to see him in a Knicks uniform but he hasn't shown much at all.
Danilo, Danilo, Danilo. I wish he'd play better, or just play more consistently because he isn't helping the team with his play this season.
Defense. Anyone who says the Knicks haven't been horrible defensively is spittin' some major BS. And Toney needs to stop gambling on defense, I've seen him out of position way too often to get a steal which results in two points for the opposition. It's fantastic we are amongst the league leaders in blocks and steals but those have been "empty stats" for us. The only reason we get those is because we either gamble or our bigs bail us out. Which hasn't happened too often with Turiaf out.
3-6
We have beaten the Wizards and the Raptors. Those are horrible teams. Our only decent win was against Chicago and we only won that by lights out shooting and coaching errors on the Bulls side.

Re: A Rant Thread
I know I sound like a broken record, but..............MDA should try to start Douglas at PG and bring Felton off the bench.

Re: A Rant Thread
I know I sound like a broken record, but..............MDA should try to start Douglas at PG and bring Felton off the bench.
I agree he's played better than Felton but it won't help the team. He certainly won't be able to make enough plays for his teammates in a pick and roll because he is a score-first PG. And he won't be consistent enough as a starter. I think he should develop more to be in the starter-conversation.
Personally, I think Toney Douglas is a great scorer off the bench. A role he's made for.
-
Re: A Rant Thread
Douglas simply is not a pg.Never was and never will be.Besides,Felton is exactly who you should have expected him to be.He's just not that good. He's an average guy.His numbers arent terrible though. We have far more pressing matters than Felton.Besides if we bench him,we diminish his trade value.

He's way too small to be a 2, that's why teams keep taking advantage of our Felton-Douglas backcourt.
-
Re: A Rant Thread
I agree he's too small to be a 2 but thats what he is skill wise. Therefore he is good for a spark off the bench. This is the exactly the reason why I found it hilarious that we were considering overpaying for Shannon Brown who is also a 2 trapped in a point guard's body.
-
Re: A Rant Thread
Have you seen Shannon play this year, he has been incredible. Shooting very well from downtown too. He would be great in this system and with his play lately we wouldn't be overpaying him. Let's hope Azubuike can give this team a lift when he returns.

Not too many teams are giving away good pg's.
Other than the Hornets with Collison.

Well Felton just isn't distributing well. He's trying too hard to be some kind of star. Douglas will go in and do all the right things. Our most effective lineup has been Douglas/Fields/Gallo/Chandler/Amare.

An expected three game losing streak.
The team is showing that they aren't quite as good as we may want to believe.
Our glowing need for a center, and a second reliable scoring option is painfully evident.

Re: A Rant Thread
Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions or being too critical or being too hasty but am I the only one that gets the feeling that Walsh isn't working hard enough to get things done?I mean the Melo thing obviously is a tricky situation. The Nets have thrown everyone at them and it hasn't gone down.I don't think Walsh was aggressive enough BUT I'm not necessarily referring to that because there are so many nuances and ppl to please in that deal. But c'mon...The Minnesota deal?...A first rounder and a backup pg who is very capable for a player who doesn't get burn on your team?Telfair is even talking buyout because he's been playing fairly well in limited minutes but can't catch break.I'm sure Minnesota, who's overloaded with PG's on their roster, would deal him in a heartbeat.AND they've reportedly been willing to give up the 1st but Walsh is hesitant to trade Randolph.Also.I dont know why we didnt re-sign Barron to begin with but we didnt. He play really well for us last year.He got cut by PHX who were overloaded with Centers. Why the hell isn't he a NY Knick? Why the hell hasn't Walsh @ least addressed our backup needs. Why can't we @ least bring in Rafer Alston for a workout?Or Sundiata Gaines?Or Earl Barron? C'mon.I don't like what I'm seeing from our GM.Not the Melo deal. The little stuff that won't effect our cap, remove any major contributors from our team or cause a shake-up in our team chemistry....it's simply not getting done.I get the sense that our early success has cause some complacency within our organization and fan base and we're destined to be a team stuck with D'Antoni long term, with Amare looking for help and us waiting around for Gallo to become Dirk.

Re: A Rant Thread
^ What is the Minnesota deal??
-
Re: A Rant Thread
I agree and have posted this in another thread prior to reading this one.
The Minny deal was AR for a pick AND possibly Telfair, but definitely a pick, probably their own.
Walsh isn't sure he will do it.
The other deal is Mayo. "Sources" claim he wants the Knicks.
Walsh denies they have talked, yet "sources" in the Knicks front office say they have.
Let's face it, AR is not gonna play here. Somehow he doesn't fit, if that's imaginable.
Then trade him already, since Minny seems willing to do it.
If it's Minny's own pick, it will be high enough to satisfy Denver.
There are protections on that pick though from a Clippers trade they did some time ago.
So let's see if this deal were to happen.......
Knicks trade AR to Minny for Telfair and Minny's 2011 1st, or whoever's it is, then.....
Denver trade Melo to the Knicks for........
Gallo, Fields, Curry, Walker, Minny's 2011 1st, Knicks 2014 1st.
Grizzlies trade OJ for JR
Not sure how the grizzlies deal could pan out, since it would have to be more from the Grizzlies side to make it work.
But either way Walsh needs to go get the pick first before anything can happen.
edit: How did I skip the obvious.

Did you mean NOT gonna play here and Trade him already?
From the multiple reports I've read the rumors regarding Knicks transactions are:
Randolph for Telfair and a 1st
Melo to the Knicks,Mayo to the Nuggets (despite him clamoring that he wants to be a Knick) and JR Smith to Grizzlies.I haven't heard who and what We have to give up yet.I'm thinking about joining twitter JUST to follow Broussard lol.

I did mean "not", good catch.
I just think Melo needs to open his mouth all the way.
Say what you want playboy.
If it's the Knicks, say "Knicks or no extension for anyone else, I will be going to free agency to test my options."
That will make Denver deal with us.
Mayo for JR would be nice for both teams.
I still say Donnie needs to get that damn pick already.
I'm not joining twitter, I can read it without joining.

Re: A Rant Thread
I was just thinking. And why the f-ck didn't we draft Eric Gordon instead of Gallo. I wanted it back then and still want it up until this very day.
23.6 points, 4.5 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals shooting .455 from the field and .324 from downtown.
Raymond Felton
Eric Gordon
Landry Fields
Wilson Chandler
Amar'e Stoudemire
If only we would have drafted Eric Gordon.
-
Re: A Rant Thread
We knew we were gonna draft Gallo from jump.I don't think we even honestly considered anyone else.D'Antoni and Gallo's dad were former teammates I believe. He plays that Euro style of basketball D'Antoni loves. It really was the ideal fit for Mike.Plus,in all fairness,Gordon is a tweener and theres always risk when drafting those guys.Case in point:Toney Douglas.Cant do anything about it now. That being said,up until this year, there are people that would have crucified you if you woulda said you'd trade Gallo for Gordon. In fact Im sure there still are people that would say no.

What? Last night he was taking charges, didn't do so well with trying to dunk, but, that last second attempt by Memphis he knocked the ball away.
-
Re: A Rant Thread
Gimme a break with the charges. The guy gets over 20 minutes a game.He isn't drawing 10-15 charges. If you get on a basketball court and play over 20 minutes and your contribution is drawing 1 or 2 charges, you suck!We could have Battier play Center if thats the case.Turiaf and Shelden Williams can draw chares too.Williams went to Puke...thats all they do.
BTW Yall see Kemba today? UCONN BABY!

Re: A Rant Thread
Talk about cold blooded.
The Portland TrailBlazers has seriously entertained the idea of asking Brandon Roy to retire.
The need to fire their medical staff, is what they need to do.
But yeah, Roy should tell them to screw themselves and buy him out.
I know the guys knees are gone, but he can still play.
He sure as hell would help us.

Re: A Rant Thread

Re: A Rant Thread
I don't want him.
Why not, if he was bought out?
-
Re: A Rant Thread
Never really a fan. He was a good player, but those knees aren't getting better. When he was at his best, he seemed extremely ball-dominant - LaMarcus Aldridge didn't really break out until Roy was sidelined - and on the Knicks that obviously won't work too well. Plus, he always seemed like he had some attitude issues. I mean, if he was cheap enough, then meh, but I'm not creaming my panties.
-
Re: A Rant Thread
I'm only thinking of him signing for the vets min, nothing more, so I know that's not reality.
But he can shoot, and for the minutes he would/could play, 20-25 max, his shot attempts would be within the offensive flow.
