This is a great sign.... Hopefully Pierce, Allen, Kevin and Shaq can solve one of the biggest puzzles in the history of mankind.
is Delonte West black or white?
stay tuned.
half black, half cherokee.
Great pick up for C's, stupid loss for cavs. Delonte can do just about everything good. Needs to learn to stay on his meds during the offseason though.

Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
The difference is that you can argue Barnes gives the Lakers a better shot at matching up against Miami. West doesn't do that for Boston.
Not comparing the players but the situation. Clearly Barnes is going to have more of an impact overall. Afterall Barnes was the starting SF on a quailty Magic team last year.

Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
called this awhile ago, ****ing great signing by the celtics
-
Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
Yes he finally got picked up! too many teams slept on him. Boston has a sick squad.

This was a great offseason.

I don't feel as bad about TA leaving now. Delonte can defend nearly as well, but his offense is a lot better.
GOAT offseason pickup. The East looking nasty this season.

Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
Celtics frontoffice is brilliant.
Rasheed, Robinson, Daniels last year
now Shaq, Delonte, JO for this season.
-
Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
Rondo/Nate
Allen/Delonte
Pierce/Daniels
Garnett/Jermaine/Baby
Perkins/Shaq
Off topic, but I was just wondering, are they planning on trading either Jermaine or Shaq when Perkins heals? Because Glen Davis is too good to rot on the bench.

Agreed to get Jermaine O'neal, Shaq, West in total for the MLE is impressive. Miami are going to have to work damn hard to beat this Boston team.

No chance, JO and Shaq are the big bodies to try and attack Miami with in the playoffs.

Really? I can agree that getting West and Shaq on the cheap is nice, but Jermaine O'Neal...
-
Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
Cool. But I thought he had a mental problem and was going time off to fix that this season?
Regardless, nice pick up.

And Lakers if they get meet in finals..
Compiling up big men is a good move to face Heat, Lakers, Magic..

JO is pretty much done offensively but defensively he is still a good option. His size and being a good post defender will help them.

It's called being bi-polar. And you can't really "fix" who you are.

I just feel like they really, really overpaid. No way he's worth nearly $6 million a year.

True, Boston are better suited to guard L.A this year compared to last season. Boston are older but size wins in the playoffs. Doesn't matter how good you are on the permeter if you don't have good size.
-
Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
LOL, well if LeBron needed any more motivation to beat the Celtics ...

They did overpay but he will do a good job and make their interior alot better than it was last season.

The Jordan Bulls' main defense strength was on perimeter. I think you have to have serviceable bigs, but it's not a must that you're main strength defensively is in the post.

The Bulls are the last time who did win without having any interior threats. You need size and post play to win titles. Permeter play is not enough no matter how good your permeter players are. There is a reason why all the past champions had legit size.

The thing is LeBron and Wade are really not "perimeter players".
They attack the rim at will and now that you can't double/triple team them nearly as much ... good luck keeping them out of the lane.
And Bosh at least offensively can be a dominant post scorer. He is not an easy cover for any post player in the NBA.
They will have to work on their D though to make sure they are defensively tough enough.
-
Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
Too much guards :banghead:
I expected Ainge to sign another SF instead of another guard.
Those who are saying that he'll be a good replacement for TA is an idiot. Dude is undersize to guard an SF :facepalm

They are still not post players or defend the interior so even though they are great players they are permeter based. Bosh is a talented player and very good face to the basket player but he isn't a post player or play in the post.
Miami are super talented with their big 3 but size, length and post play is what has won titles over the past several years. Their big 3 are going to need to play great shooting the ball to win the title due to their lack of size and length.

Boston is looking great this year, completely stacked.

Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
Excellent move for the Celtics. We all know he is unstable, but the Celtics have enough dept to weather the storm if he does not work out. It would be a bad signing if they were relying on him to be a starter, but honestly whatever he brings will be a huge bonus. If he can remain stable, he can be a huge lift iff the bench and he could be a good back up for either ray or Rondo. West could very well turn into Boston's best pickup this offseason
I am liking the Boston offseason. They knew they were very close last year, so they kept their core intact and they picked up some good help. Shaq is old, but he was still contributing last season, so I think he is going to be a great addition. JO struggled mightily in the playoffs, but he will not command the ball on offense like he was forced to last year with Miami. Bit over payed, but they know they need bigs to help the frontline.
-
Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
Damn....they got Rondo, Donkey, and now red.
To go along with their bigs....Perkins, Shaq, KG and Jermaine.
Throw in Ray and the Truth.....
This team is mad deep.
-
Re: Delonte West heading back to Boston, joining Celtics
I can imagine that Doc will get in West's ear to "talk" to LeBron. :oldlol:
I like it, West can play............but a lot of midgets now. West, Rondo, Donkey, Bradley (although he wont play much)...

Its possible; there were rumors that he might do the PJ Brown thing and come back at the deadline. You can never have too many bigs, as the last game 7 illustrated...

Teams with legit size wins titles, which is why you have to like Lakers and Celtics heading into this season. Miami have great star power but no legit size or length be interesting to see if it matters.

So many characters on this team. Please Rasheed come back
