Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
Yep those two lottery draft picks are really going to help the Bobcats' future!
Oh wait. The Blazers aren't in the lottery are they?
Also this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte_Bobcats_draft_history
Man I left home for class at 3PM thinking the reports that said MJ was getting cold feet were true, and he'd come to his senses. Crash is by far my favorite Bobcat of all-time, I can't believe we gave up the best player in our franchise's history for that package.
Guess theres no reason for me to try to make it to the TWC Arena now, unless I'm trying to see the visiting team.

Gerald's style of play + Portland trainers = career ending injury :(

Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
we got a steal theres no way to convince anyone otherwise. i didnt think we would get that done for a second with what we were offering.
im kinda interested to see what daunte does in charlotte where he may get more run. he's super athletic. strong. hustler and very smart. he could be a very decent player.
and its not the trainers in portland. roy had knee problems all through college. camby is known to be injury prone. oden is a monster of a man whos body was still coming into its own. its pure god-awful bad luck thats been the problem with our injuries

Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
I would not doubt he resigns with the Bobcats... He knows it was a business move , and we have to remember Wallace was given a chance by this team to prove himself.
I would not doubt he returns.
Really? Sacramento wasn't exactly stoked to see him taken in the expansion draft (at least the fans weren't). I'm sure many teams that were in a building mode would have given the same chance.
I'm kind of bummed the Kings didn't make a move for him. He doesn't necessarily fill any of their holes (except they don't have a very good SF), but he was a popular player and I love his game.
-
Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
Charlotte may this trade because of the two first round draft picks. Plus, it appears there now committed to giving big minutes to Gerald Henderson, who's played very good as of late.
Dante Cunningham is pretty solid from what limited action I've seen of him in the NBA. Kinda similar to Crash in some ways.
Love Gerald Wallace's game, but he has somewhat had a disappointing season.
It'll be a good move if MJ can turn the those first round picks into something.
Regardless, I totally understand why some Charlotte fans are pissed.

i dunno how likely that is... they got a new orleans pick for 2011 that the blazers got by trading bayless. it wont be a lottery pick and this draft is weeeeeak. and the other first rounder is top twelve protected through 2015. those arent great.
but maybe they package them in a differant deal or something.

I'm curious how he'll do given more minutes, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. I view him somewhere between a less than average 2nd string guy and a good 3rd string guy (on a good team). He's similar to Crash in the sense that he can hold down the SF and PF spot, but otherwise he severely lacks the athleticism to play like Crash.

stretching to hope oden has a resurgence but im crossing my fingers
but regardless, we just became one of the longest and defensively scary teams in the league... before yall go crazy i said "one of the..." boston and LA are still pretty elite defensively. but wes mathews, nic batum, gerald wallace... throw in cambys and aldridge's wingspan... scary

For now, and because of health problems.
Healthy though, Camby, Aldridge, and Batum are as long as it gets. Even Andre Miller has pretty long arms.
Hell, Oden is a freak of nature with his wing span.
Plus, we play defense. We aren't the Warriors.
-
Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
People need to get off this Portland training staff thing.
Camby, Oden, and Roy are all injury prone.
Aldridge and Andre have been in good healthy. Even Batum and Rudy have bounced back well.
Matthews is playing with a messed up ankle that seems to be getting better.
Our training staff is fine. If Andre Miller had injury problems, then it'd be the staff.

this. everyone knew about roys knees outa college. everyone knows giant 20 year old monster men are always more at risk than smaller more proportioned bodies. and it wasnt the trainers fault priz went down verrrry awkwardly... and then re-busted it falling in a shower. its the worst luck in a decade. not the worst training staff in a decade

if only they had Wallace 2 years ago.

Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
Let's guess how many games will Wallace play before he gets injured :lol

Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
NBA is so depressing sometimes. Even best case scenario Charlotte won't be competitive for ten years. More likely never.
-
Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
I do think Wallace could get injured here, but it will be because of his style of play, not that training staff. Hell, I think Camby is going to get hurt again.
Oden may have major injuries get in his way, but Camby is out ever other week with a turned ankle or a sore foot. Real minor stuff keeps Camby out. I'm not too confident when people say we have Camby coming back soon.
I'll believe it when I see it.

At least he will have a better chance in Portland of making a few playoff appearances again before his career is over in the next few years, he deserves it!
As a bobcats fan this trade saddens me, I would have much rather see jack go but I guess that wont happen. I guess Jordan is going to throw the towel in on a playoff run right now and rebuild for the next 4 years

Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
Yes! So happy with this trade. Congrats Cho. Camby/L-Train/Crash/Wes/Dre. Preety strong ball team. Roy, Fernandez and Nic Batum off the bench mind you. Hopefully we get Pryz back in 30 days, that's the rumours floating around, because right now we have Zero front court depth. We must sign some one on a 10 day contract for now. I like this move. What if Oden can stay fit next season and fit in nicely? Pwoooahhhh.

I think Portland will go small ball and have Crash at 4, at least until Camby returns.

Re: Charlotte's Gerald Wallace has been traded to Portland
I have to admit, I haven't seen Wallace play much. But he's not a very good player (at least not as good as some make him out to be), nowhere near franchise player.
Poor man's Iggy.
And like some have mentioned, he's injury prone.
Now... I'm not defending the trade, because I haven't seen the other players, but i never understood why people were so high on Wallace. He's an explosive and athletic baller with little understanding of the game, and limited skills.

Poor mans Iggy:oldlol:
He was all defense first team. He's a great shot blocker and rebounder for his position and size. He's basically the perfect mentor for Nicolas Batum.
This trade is a homer run.
Even if you think he's a poormans Iggy, we gave up some draft picks, an expiring contract, and a player we drafted in the second round. Lol, if Wallace gets injured tomorrow, we still did a great trade.

Jordan
:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm
Gerald Wallace is a much better player than Andre Iguodala. He's a good all around player, and one of the better defenders at the SF position.

You have not watched him playing even a game, have you?
He is one of the best defenders in the league, great shot blocker, great rebounder, can score about 18 points every night, can hit three and is decent penetrator. He will be perfect mentor for Batum who is playing Crush like style too, like someone mentioned above. And yeah, I would take Wallace over Iggy 9 of 10 times.

Two mid firsts and a backup tweener.....show me a team that got anywhere with those kind of assetts. Jordan got f**ed in the a**hole once again.
With Jordans drafting history can you imagine what he'd pull out. :oldlol:

that made me laugh but at the same time nod with agreement.
It's sad to see prizbilla and dante go the where legit professionals always playing hard and never complaining. they are perfect roll players for any team. Cunningham played out of position all year this year and never complained he even started at center a couple times adn did his best.
i thin it's a great trade but now the blazers only have one legit center and that's camby...and he's straight glass. the blazers have no other big guys unless they play aldrige at the 1 which wouldnt be good since he really doesnt like to bang but has to at times. with all the minutes he's playing who knows he may get injured if he plays the 1 all the time. I dont know how this small ball is going to work especially defensevely. Mcmillan has some work on his hands....i'm reall curious to see his rotation when Wallace gets here.

First, Aldridge has been a beast in the paint this season and the one its point guard, center is the five. The Blazers have one of the best 8 man rotations in the NBA if Camby is healthy and Brandon is at least 75% of what he was...maybe even 60%. Rich Cho has fine a great job putting hard defensive minded guys around the perimeter and getting guys to take the burden off the two stars of the team.
