Otis is incompetent. Remember Shaq ? It's fiasco after fiasco. I'd rather blame them than D12. The guy who is actually opting out.

It was awkward. Dwight put his arm around Stan and Jim looked straight into the camera.

That video is ridiculous lol.
I don't care if he asked for him to be fired. You have to be an adult and realize what's going on out there and do your best to have your coach's back, at least in public.
SVG is hilarious.

Re: SVG Confirms Howard asked for him to be fired
Classy move by SVG.... He should've kept his mouth shut. This will hurt him as he looks for a new job.
He's done a pretty crappy job as a coach anyway, he deserved to be fired whether Dwight asked for it or not. It's unfair to pin this on Dwight anyway, if he's going to stay then obviously he's going to want to shake things up, because they clearly aren't working.
This seems like it will be a suitably awkward and angry ending for the angry little coach.
You need to step back from this a get a little perspective. SVG is a good coach and has done a fine job with what he's had. Otis Smith shackled the franchise w a bum like Lewis (who btw Dwight wanted) then gave him another bum in Arenas (who Dwight also wanted). In addition, Howard airing all his dirty laundry and acting like a spoiled brat has totally alienated his teammates and now he's reaping what he's sown. This dude is a fraud and will never be a go to guy. If he wants to be the man he needs to act like a man. He has acted like a spoiled 15 year old girl.

You're blaming Dwight for the Magic signing Lewis and Arenas? Give me a break. This latest drama didn't come from Dwight's mouth, it got leaked BY SVG. Dwight is rightfully sick of having his career dragged down by a franchise that is utterly incompetent from top to bottom, and yeah part of that is his loudmouth coach who isn't getting him enough shots.
The stuff you're saying is downright false.

Re: SVG Confirms Howard asked for him to be fired
If the Magic fire Stan Van Gundy, they're morons. D12 might not even remain in a few years, but SVG most definitely would have. Good luck replacing SVG with a better coach.
Unless Phil Jackson or Jerry Sloan come out of retirement and sign with the Magic, you've got very few choices of coaches as good as SVG. I guess they can give Mike D'Antoni a try, right?

Blaming Dwight? No. I'm saying those were moves that he wanted and got, and where did it get them? Are you denying that he's acted like a spoiled baby this year? Or that his actions have effected the team negatively? Man, you are in denial. I don't understand, his coach was asked a question, to which he responded with an honest answer, which isn't speculation, it was true. So what have I said that was false. Stop being an apologist for some fake Christian who stalks porn stars and has babies with groupies. Sorry, when it comes to integrity I'll take SVG every time buddy.

I don't care about Dwight's personal life, but clearly you're so caught up in it that it's going to prevent you from having an actual basketball discussion about the guy.
Yeah he's acted like a diva, this is the NBA, half the players in the league act like divas. Fact is the Magic have wasted the last few years of his career putting sorry teams out on the court with him. If Dwight influenced them to make bad basketball decisions, (I seriously doubt he had much to do with the Lewis signing) then that's just a further example of the Magic front office being incompetent and letting a player who doesn't know personel at all to make decisions for them.

Apparently, this is something that may be part of why he re-signed. Don't expect Stan or Otis to be there next season.
-
Re: Stan Van Gundy confirms Dwight Howard asked Magic to fire him
What does Dwight have to really complain about though? Prior to the Magic's recent losing streak, they were in steady lead of the 3rd seed in the East. The other two teams are comprised of one with three all-stars and solid role players, while the other team is arguably the league's best defensive and rebounding squad. How is replacing Van Gundy with a D'Antoni or the other slim pickings going to make up that talent gap?
So the magic fires SVG, very likely won't improve next season and Dwight leaves. Where does that leave the Magic? Bad coach and bad players.

I'm not caught up in his personal life but it does give you some insight into the type of person he is. Does this have to do with basketball? Well it does here because he asked for his coach to be fired. His coach was asked about this rumor, to which he responded with an honest answer. And why wouldn't he? He's the guy who is trying to get this team to perform when it's in disarray because Howard has been acting like a diva all year. When Howard is asked about it he just lies and avoids answering the question. So yes I believe what SVG said was true and don't believe Howard. Stan wasn't stirring the pot at all. If you listened to his answer he said that it didn't matter to him. I would assume that's why he responded so candidly to the question. The thing is this, if you're going to say inflammatory things about your teammates and the organization, and talk about "how much I've done for this organization" then you had better put up and act like a man. He has not acted like a man this year. Staying out of huddles and dissing his teammates. In addition, he's just not a reliable enough offensive player to be a go to guy and his FT shooting doesn't help him at all in crunch time. He's not as good as he thinks he is and the fact of the matter is that only one team every year can win it all. Everyone else are losers. If you don't think that they have been trying to assemble a team around him to appease him then you are living in a fantasy world. How is it supposed to make Jameer feel when Howard does interviews and talks about how much help the team needs and how much they need a better PG? How do you expect Nelson to feel about that? Give me a break. That's not rumor or a story fabricated by anyone. If he has such a problem with him he should talk to him personally not air his dirty laundry in public. He can't have it both ways. He's a baby and he's overrated and will never be the number one guy on anyone's team.

Nope. SVG isn't the source. The source come from the guys in management who told SVG this. It's different.
