Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
So next year he's going to the Knicks? Yes? :D
No, he'll go to the Nets and the Kardashians will put a twist on the Humphries angle now that Odom is playing with him.
Seriously though, I see him going to New York or Miami. I thought maybe the Clippers, but I heard Sterling and him have issues. In Miami, he's friends with Wade and he'd have much less pressure because there's so many huge stars there as opposed to Dallas where he was pretty much replacing Chandler in a way. New York is his hometown and there are many bigger stars there as well.

Actually he was a marginal starter being propped up by D-Wade and Tuff Juice.

he was an average player with tremendous potential...but had substance abuse problems (according to the NBA)....never an allstar...
Kobe helped forge him into a Allstar..and a catalyst for winning Championships...

Wait so is he a FA or is he staying with the Mavs but they will hold him inactive?
Wow, Pathetic.
Lamar, the Lakers no longer wanted you. Get over it. This guy is a bigger head case than I ever imagined.
Edit: I just read that article. I'm willing to give Odom some sympathy over the family tragedies.
Sweet, maybe my grandpa will pass and I can take the next 9 months off from work! Will you talk to my boss for me?

Just like Fisher as well. Gets traded to OKC, a few weeks later Spurs overtake OKC for 1 seed. :lol

Actually he was averaging 17/10 as very arguably the best player on a playoff team, even better then Wade who was ony a rookie and CLEARLY better then Butler who was only in his second year and taking a smaller role.

Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
Come back to LA where you belong, Lamar.

Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
Odom is such a bitch :facepalm glad i'm not a Mav's fan or i'd despise him.
never seen a NBA player, let alone adult, act so sensitive like him, lucky he's an NBA player with some clout or he'd have had to man up and do his job...

Most adults haven't had to go through what he's gone through. Not saying its okay, but its kinda hard to judge a man who's shoes I haven't walked in.

its very easy to judge him considering there is a reality show to judge him from behind the scenes, and all of the stories and soap opera around the Mav's to judge him from directly. it gives a pretty good picture of what Odom is like...
the other sad thing is he lied to the team, at the least misrepresented his father being ill and having to see him, when all his dad had was a stomach virus. Cuban played it down but they've been doing that for Odom since he got there hoping/trying to make him fit. they bent over backwards trying to...don't blame Cuban or Mav's players for being fed up with Odom.
-
Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
so is he a free agent or something?
No, Since he couldn't play in the playoffs for another team they're just keeping him and hoping they could make a draft deal instead of losing him for nothing. Makes sense for both of them.
-
Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
This guy is going to have a hard time finding a deal in the off-season. Unless his relationship with Lakers management is rekindled, how is a team (especially non-playoff/small market) going to take a chance on him for something like the MLE?
Clippers may take a stab at him, but if all the other teams are offering something like 2 -3 mil a year, they'll be able to get him for cheap.
I think there will be a lot more suitors for him than you think. He's a quality 6'10 player who can both score and play defense while being one of the better passers at his position.
I expect him to get at least $7 mil next year.

lol after what happened this year? nobody is going to touch Lamar Odom because everybody knows he wants to play for the lakers.
I see him coming back to the lakers......

Just cause you see him on a reality show doesn't mean you know or feel what he's going through. Now the fact that he still has no problem having a reality show while he's going through all this seems a bit suspect but I don't know, could be more of his wife's doing then his.
People that have mental breakdowns are prone to use bad judgment. So I'm not saying he's not doing anything wrong. All I'm saying is its kind of hard to call someone mentally fragile who's had more personal tragedy at his age then probably over 99% of people in the US at least. Most people just can't relate to assume they'd handle it better if they were in his situation.

before joining Miami He was coming off 2 years in a row of 14/6 on the Clippers, and definatley battling issues .......in the West there is no way that Miami team would have made the Playoff's in 2003.

He put up 13/6/6 in 2002 and 14/7/4 in 2003. He missed most of those games in those years due to injury and he was still pretty young as well. Then he put up 17/10 in Miami. You can argue the merit of getting into the playoffs that year, but AVERAGE PLAYERS don't do what he did, playoffs or not. Its not like Kobe was working with someone like Keith Bogans and turned him into what Lamar Odom has been.
I'm sure Kobe improved his game, but most of his improvement was probably due to him being a great talent that was more seasoned and experienced by that point. And also, he's never reached his potential with or without Kobe. Thats always been the knock on him and a testament to how talented and physically gifted he is.

Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
if mia can get him they'd be unbeatable

Odom had the physical Talent and the skillset to be a great great player...
but his drive just isn't there to maximize his potential...
Alstar and 6th man of the year will be his best season IMO...sad really.

and there goes the season.
I knew something bad was going on when he was barely getting any burn the last couple of (must win) games.

Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
I've never seen any give less effort than Lamar Odom...one of the worst players to ever wear a Mav's jersey.
He got booed right off the team.
Now he can put more focus into Khloe and his stupid ass show...
-
Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
Odom played the Mavs :pimp:
-
Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
Odum, this guy is a joke. Be a man and play the season. He just wants to go to a big market so he can do his stupid reality show. Get this clown out of the nba.

Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
I don't understand why Odom's court production is so heavily scrutinized. Plenty of guys fall off for one reason or another. It seems like Dallas, particularly Cuban and Carlisle, are taking this way too personally. Odom's on the downside of his career, and he's also got a bunch of personal issues he has to sort through. Extending him that leave of absence earlier in the year and now letting him leave the team are nice gestures, but they're sort of masked by the public complaints about his work ethic and motivation.
-
Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
Yeah, except they've never done that. Unless people on this board are Mavs representatives.
-
Re: Odom to leave Mavs, sit out remainder of season
So the Mavs just go uncompensated and he isn't fined??? He almost undermined the team.
-

this, how can he got scott free on this, even if Mavs keep him as trade bait, who in his right mind will risk trading for him. If he wasnt in his right state of mind he should have just not played or retired.

Im sure if you guys acquired a player of his caliber who was still fairly young and played the way Odom is playing you would have also been crying for his head.
Damn imagine if we just traded for Gerald Wallace instead of this guy.
