Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
Doc's made several lowkey snide remarks throwing Ray under the bus since he agreed to sign with Miami.
He threw out some nonsense that Ray was apparently jealous that Boston made Garnett their primary off-season focus. Which sounds like bullshit to me, because Ray Allen has always maintained the opinion that KG was the most important player on the Celtics, and had the upmost respect for his ability as a player. :confusedshrug:
Rivers hinted that perhaps the Celtics first courting Kevin Garnett to return may have irritated Allen, who may not have felt he was a priority.

Where exactly is the improvement in utilization?
I think having more wide open shots than he has ever had in his career did the trick. Seeing what Mike Miller did in game 5 of the Finals, and thinking: "I could do that, 25 times over the course of a season".

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
Ray being a little baby, rondo has to be the leader he's the ball handler.
-
Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
This is a really good, honest opinion. I'm not used to reading too much real honesty in these type of articles.

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff

Just no...
and ray in his bucks and sonics days had plenty of handle... As a sonics fan I can tell you that in his first full yr here he actually ran point for us the majority of the time...dude could handle and could score with the best of them
I love rondo but call me when rondo is able to be a franchise player for a decade and that can take a bunch of scrubs to the playoffs and 50 wins (seattle 05) and not have 3 hall of famers to help him
we'll see how rondo does then
Ray's teams were very good when they won 50+ wins. He usually missed the post-season during his prime because his teams were scrubs most of the time. I don't think Ray ever took a scrub team to the playoffs.

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
I never really got why ray allen has been made out to be a saint ... I think there are plenty of other guys in the league who are more genuine and nicer than him anyway.
I'll never forget that tweet he sent out when his twitter was "hacked" (obviously, he just pressed the wrong button).

he was the saint because he was the anti-Kobe. They were something of arch-enemies.
Always quiet, reserved, professional. Kobe was the more brash, Colorado, etc.

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
Pierce was also been in a discussion of being traded to other team and yet we haven't heard any single word from him about it or any complaints coming from him.
If there's someone who has the right to act the way Ray did (If that is the true reason), it's Pierce.
Because you've heard a lot of complaints from Ray. :coleman:
It's like, just move on bitches, Ray been classy, moved on, didn't say anything but thank the Celtics organization and the city of Boston.
-
Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
As a Celtic fan I think everyone needs to just move on. It's only our organization that is saying anything. Ray who is my favorite player in the league and has been since his Bucks days and will be till the day he retires and he hasn't said a thing and likely won't, so everyone needs to just shut up and move on.

Dude, I'm quoting the user who said that the real reason why Ray leave is because DA agreed to trade him. Read the conversation first before quoting someone's post :lol
Ray complaining about Rondo handling the ball too much?
Sorry but I need to search this on youtube and post it here,

(Someone pls gif this and e-mail it to Ray)
If someone's going to pass the ball to me like that, there's no way I'm going to complain about it.

And you quote me to bash that I said Ray was also complaining about that trade?
I just use Pierce as an example and the post that I quote already assumed that Ray complains about it and that's indeed the reason why he left Boston (base on what he posted).
Try again.

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
The Celtics played (by far) their best basketball of the year when they moved Ray to the bench and started Avery Bradley. So if this is true, I guess Ray cares about his touches and pride more than winning. What a shame...

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
You completely disregarding Allen doing job on Bryant all those times. He was a great defender, and that impact was dealt. I mean... What exactly are you implying? That he wasn't as good defender as he could due to poor dedication, or that on Celtics he didn't defend up to his abilities?? Or something else...??
Allen never did a job on Bryant....if anything it was Bryant playing his normal average games against an average defender trying his best. In a sense he was the best the Celtics had at times when guys like Allen (the other one) was resting.

Ray is a pissed off 40 year old chick that caught her boyfriend looking at a 30 year olds ass.

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
I wonder what Doc's story will be when Allen is dropping threes on his team's ass in the playoffs
The same thing. Doc, unlike the people in that organization in Miami, isn't a chump.
-
Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
So he expects to get the ball more on the Heat? He won't even be starting.
-
Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
No doubt. You could tell like 2 seasons ago Pierce had trouble delegating to Rondo, but eventually it smoothed itself out.
Ray is seeming more like a baby with every article coming out about this.
Doc made a really interesting point though, about how it's easier to change teams for a smaller role than to have it taken away from you. It's a weird pride thing.
Come on though, Lee + Terry > Ray
Sure maybe Lee +Terry> Allen
But Allen went to your biggest rival (currently).
-
Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
I guess he'll be the focal point of the offense in miami. What a crybaby.
-
Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
Why now do we hear all this Ray had issues with Rondo talk? Ray is older and had bone spurs let's leave it at that.
-
Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
I've seen Celtics fans saying this about every free agent shooting guard they've been linked to.
I know Ray's older, but he still scares me at the end of games as much as anyone. I'll take what he's proven over what Lee and Young promise.
We have Jason Terry
So is more like Losing Allen = Gaining Terry + Lee. Win.
And LOL at those Heat fans defending Allen like he's a Saint. Bet you wound't give a shit if he would've went to the clippers instead dumb homers

this is not true... I remember Ray defending Bryant and doing good job with that as ever. Maybe it was '10 finals? But you guys surely haven't seen what I have seen... I wonder how many points have Bryant put on these new-look Celtics, as opposed to zillions by Wade or James. Yeah, maybe Wade is terrible match up for Ray, but believe me Ray did help Boston in those battles with LA.

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
Terry & Lee > Allen
Time to move on

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
doc actually dissapointed me here...didnt think he would be this bitter about ray leaving and feeling like he had to low blow him...he doesn't know why ray left and I'm sure ray didnt tell him...ppl need to stop overreacting doc rivers only said what HE FELT why ray left not that what he stated was the reasons why ray left
-
Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
It's really easy to respect Rivers. Seems like he never really bullshits in interviews and just knows what to do to get wins. I can't really say he made the wrong decision either. Ray just didn't look very good last year, even when he was healthy. He looked like he had lost an awful lot to me.
-
Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
So Doc Rivers deflecting the "blame" from Rondo, and instead owning that portion of the blame by stating it was he that wanted and told Rondo to have more freedom with the basketball, is being a pouting crybaby?
Anyway, so, how exactly does Ray think he'll be "more involved in the offense" in Miami? Instead of having to deal with your point guard, who is, by design, suppose to have the ball in his hands dictating the offense, he'll now have to deal with Bron, then Wade, then Chalmers as the primary, secondary, ect ball-handlers.
Where exactly is the improvement in utilization?
+1. He's gonna go from a slightly deminished role on the Celtics to a severely demenished role on the already guard heavy Heat? Makes no sense

Re: Doc Rivers Talks about Ray leaving. Interesting stuff
also boston didnt fight hard to get allen back...if my memory serves correctly they offered terry a contract before allen...if they wanted allen back then why bother going for terry first if they claimed allen was a priority...allen was severely mistreated in boston and easily made the most sacrifices of the big 3...from gettin traded midseason to a last second change up and he lost his starting spot...some may say that it was deserved but i applaud allen for not disrupting the team during the playoffs and season when he was benched when most other aging stars would have pouted their asses off
Allen moved on and so should boston... the city of boston didnt care to bring allen back they just cared he went to miami...if he was on the clippers this would be a non issue

thats completely understood and not the point of my post...the point is that boston fans are bitching that allen showed no loyalty and wat not when in reality we didnt show loyalty to him and practically smacked him in the face with how we treated him and our offseason moves so why should boston be so bitchy about him leaving
Ray has always had this little streak to him. Never been a fan. Guy gets this rep for being such a great worker. Too bad he never worked on creating a handle or getting to the rim. He had the talent to be a more impactful player. But, guy just sat back taking pot shots at other players because of his short comings. It is arguable that Rondo is better than Ray Allen has ever been in his entire career.
:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm Did I just read this?
I actually think that Rondo might be the best point guard in the game right now but better than RAY ALLEN has EVER been in his entire career?
Is this because of the Ray/Kobe feud? Or are you that stupid?
And if you ever watched him play in Seattle or Milwaukee, you'd know that he did have the ability to handle and get to the rim back in his prime.
I don't get why Ray is a dick for wanting out of Boston. He was an unrestricted free agent, which means he could have went where ever the hell he wanted. He's basically retiring in Florida, while shooting some 3's here and there.

Boston offered him 2 years 12 million deal (reportedly a no trade clause as well) before even approaching Terry.
Rondo was almost traded to Hornets for CP3 and Pierce was almost traded to Nets for this year's lottery pick. Did they bitch about it?
It's not about money, the truth is his ego couldn't handle coming of the bench for a 2nd year player.

for one it wasnt a no trade clause...it was a trade kicker...also pierce and rondo were in trade rumors they werent traded then called back only to be told the deal fell through...and finally well before ray made his decision boston signed jason terry so when all of this happens what do you think ray is going to do...yea I think I'd leave too
like i said if this was the clippers he went too nobody in boston would give a shit...we were calling him washed up this season anyway now all of a sudden we care
