Re: Ask hateraid supplement advice PtII
Okay, I WILL say that hateraid pointed me to Dymatize and it's absolutely the BEST-TASTING protein powder out there. I swear, I don't know how taking crack feels like, but I imagine it's pretty close to this. :oldlol: Sometimes, I found that I wanted to train just so I had an excuse to take a shake.
Yo hateraid, I also have to say though, I quit taking protein powders ever since May, and I've had absolutely my best gains ever composition-wise not taking the stuff, absolutely beating the dinner table after evening training, and even fasting from 9 in the evening to 12 noon everyday. What gives? :oldlol:
Thanks bro
Protein does not replace real food, that's for sure.
The reason you're getting better gains is that the profile from your meal is technically more condusive for building muscle.
IE you get a sustained release protein, carbs to replenish glycogen, and the nutrients to decrease free radicals from breaking down tissue. I would suggest to optimize you results drink the shake before you eat your meal. This will give you the protein that will have immediate absorbtion.

Re: Ask hateraid supplement advice PtII
Hi Hateraid,
For the last several months, I've been trying to gain some weight. I'm close to 5"11 and i fluctuate between 170 and 175 pounds...I've educated myself on better training methods and my strength has improved greatly..I've gained a little bit of size but not enough that I'm satisfied. I used a gainer called Stealth which i liked and i tried another called Carnivor Mass that i didn't like. I use a pre-workout called Assault when I am tired, which helps me with my energy to go hard in my workout....
However, every supplement i take just seems to make my sh*t alot, so im not sure how effective they are..and ive been going through alot of stress in my personal life (custody issues, breakup, potential problems with job security), which just makes me nervous all the time, so some days i have trouble eating and sleeping...my question is what else can i do to try to gain some weight and continue to gain strength when there are days that i don't eat alot due to stress and anxiety?

What's your take on vegetable juice, such as V8? Is it as effective as eating whole veggies?
-
Re: Ask hateraid supplement advice PtII
How's it going baller?
Milk is bad anyways. I don't suggest it.
First thing I would suggest to get everything in balance is a good multivitamin. Everything starts from a basis of nutrition. Plug in holes where you are nutritient difficient. it could adrss the improper diet, lack of sleep with the b-vitamins, and process calories efficiently for wirght gain.
Next I would try an adaptogen. If it's available in your coutry there's a product called Geriforte (stresscare in North America) by Hmalaya Herbal Healthcare. Althought the label says stress it is really an adaptogen meaning it brings the body to balance. If you're moody it calms you down. If you're tired it rejuvinates. It has no know side effects and is clinically proven on humans. I love this brand.
Finally look for a protein supplement that has a 4:1 carb to protein ratio. Carbs build mass, and as a hard gainer don't be too concerned with carb intake, you'll still stay relatively lean. DO NOT REPLACE MEALS with it. Use on top of meals. I think we've spoke before on the subject and I know you say you eat alot, but eat more. You're body has created this platuea in which it burns as much as you take in, you need to manipulate it and go over that amount. Once you start noticing some gain, that's essentially how many calories you should eat.
Everything's fine, trying to take the next step and hit big european leagues.
Hope to see you around more times, you're one of the true guys here.
Thanks man.

Buddy, you need to deal with the stress first. Stress is the root of all problems in the body due to the fact it increases cortisol and inflammation.
Start with the same products I had suggested for Maga. Look into Geriforte(stresscare) by Himalaya. This should help keep your cortisol in check while helping with the anxiety. I had a friend who hated public speaking and would have major anxiety before speaking in public and after taking Geriforte for the first time he was able to pull through. It has no known side effects and is 100% organic and whole herb. In fact you would need a doctor's perscription to obtain this product.
Also get a good multi, specifically high in zinc. Or even take ZMA on it's own. Taken before sleep it can definately help calm the nerves and help you sleep like a baby. It also helps with proper hormone functions and growth hormone release while you are sleeping.
Also bottom line for growth is eating. If supplements make you sick, perhaps try individual ingredients. Like instead of Assault, take citrulline and caffiene pre-workout and see how you feel. If it's the gainer try smaller dosages and take more frequently.
What's your take on vegetable juice, such as V8? Is it as effective as eating whole veggies?
I really can't stand behind V8 since it is all from concentrate. The filtering proccess strips away alot of the nutrient content. It is also extremely high in sodium for my liking. The one positive I can take from it is that proccessing tomoatos is the only way that you can extract lycopene which is great for prostate support.
Buy a juicer. You get all the essentials from the raw vegetables. Or buy brands like Happy Planet.

Not a big fan of the brand altogether. It's really not my place to cut down the competitors but they come in at an etremely low price which would lead me to believe corners may be cut. I've used soem of their products and they worked fine. For the same value we have a product called Gourmet. Anything from Dymatize is self manufactured, quality controlled and inspected and is certified Gluten free.

Re: Ask hateraid supplement advice PtII
What are your thoughts on prohormones such as RPN Havoc, assuming I would use a SERM afterwards to negate the post-estrogen rise?
-
Re: Ask hateraid supplement advice PtII
I was given these:

The protein tastes pretty good and mixes quite nice, but I found it strange that it's been leaving some small colorless remnants at the bottom of the shaker bottle. They taste like wet paper. Not really a bother but maybe someone has an explanation.
The vitamins, I wouldn't be able to tell if they work great or not.
Also, how hard is it to put muscle mass and/or get nice athletic ability for a 30+ year old man? and do supplements work for someone the same at any age or athletic level?
-
Re: Ask hateraid supplement advice PtII
Extreme novice question...how important are pre-workout supplements? I've trained off and on for years and I always just order a cheap 5 pound tub of MuscleMilk (cookies and cream flavor is delicious) and take that after a workout.
I want to start training again but more hardcore so I think I will look into more supplements. Suggest some of your products that will help me bulk? I'm going for a lean-cut look so no gaining type products if that makes sense. I wanna focus on getting the body fat down and I know that means a lot of cardio... ppl say cardio and training is a bad mix so I'm not really sure.
Basically I want a good pre-workout.. lol. try to address what else I said and suggest other products that will help me out

I'm not entirely familiar with Havoc although I don't really buy into their claims. from what I hear it's technically not a prohormone but advertised as one.
as for post-estrogen rise they say this will not cause it to spike at abnormal rates. I have a product under the banner BPI called Arimidex-HD. they seem to be categorized the same.
I'd say this product is pretty inconclusive despite these so called reviews. But if you're getting results all the power to you!

I've always like VPX. Ever since Redline I've been a fan. they've fallen off but they have decent products.
The theory that men produce results slower in their 30's is a myth. It's the build up of not taking yourself in your 20's that causes men to believe this effect in their 30's. In terms of athletic ability or fast twitch muscles, that may degrade over time, but fitness and physique can always develop. Boxers and bodybuilders fully mature in their late 30's. I'm in better shape now at 35 than when i was 25. It's all mindset. Supplementing will work the same at any level, it's all expectations.

Xpand 2x may be the perfect fit for you. It's not just an extreme stimulant like other preworkouts on the market. It contains many ingredients which will keep you anabolic. It more focuses on the vasodialtoin and NO process than being a energy booster. These products allow more efficiency in protein synthesis and training
As for gaining size and getting lean, it is almost a physical impossibilty to do it simutaneously. It is best advised to do it based on one goal then the other. If you found the secret you'd have a breakthrough in the bodybuilding industry

Havoc is the same compound is Epistane. It's a designer steroid.
And I wouldn't take an OTC SERM. I would buy a legit product like Novadex.

Thanks for following! I wouldn't say I'm back, I just got excited to promote our new product and share new info
I honestly think it's pretty hockie. They say there are components in the lignans that goes beyond what CLA that it actually has thermogenic properties but I don't see any conclusive evidence. we've been approach to make it but don't see a value. I do however promote using fats as a part of a good diet plan. So sesame seed oil won't hurt, just don't expect it to "burn" fat.

I hope Hateraid doesn't mind me bumping this thread.
I've always worked out regularly but my eating habits became crappy once I graduated from college. A few months back I started playing basketball regularly, eating cleaner, and fine tuning my workouts and I've lost 30+ lbs and am lifting more than ever. I feel fresher in the morning, more explosive and quicker when playing basketball, and am more toned than I've ever been. Most of this has been without supplements at all except for whey protein every now and then but I'm looking to start getting more serious about supplementing my workouts.
Currently I take a multi in the morning, 1-2 fish oil pills a day, and a scoop of whey protein after my workout. Occasionally I'll drink chocolate milk instead of whey protein just to mix it up a little bit. I've got a muscular frame but I want to get more cut. I want to start taking creatine, so for my goals, what would you suggest? Any other supplements that you would suggest?
Thanks!

Creatine isn't the answer if you're looking to get more cut. It actually forces a little bit of water retention which will cause you to lose a hint of definition.
How much water do you drink on a daily basis?

I probably should have been more clear in my post - I want to bulk up my arms and chest a little bit more while cutting fat around my abs. I know spot reduction is a myth but I've heard that creatine helps with fat loss as well?
I drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily.
Thanks for the reply.

Don't mind the bump at all.
I love creatine for any type of results. The drawback is that it volumizes the whole body composition and it can become a challenge to attain a leaner figure. But by no means is it a bulking agent if used effectively. The tricks are essentially this:
1- Drink lot's and lot's of water. Bloating comes from 2 aspects. Creatine loads water into the muscle. Plus creatine is highly acidic. Drinking water will tell your body not to withhold so much water, thus becoming a diuretic. Also drinking more water balances out the acidic affect that casues major bloating
2- Use a creatine source that's less acidic. Now all creatine is basically creatine monohydrate. The different forms are that same creatine bonded with a molecule that helps absorption or decreases acidity and the process of creatine converting to ceatinine, an unusabe highly toxic byproduct. Products like krealkelyn (creatine bonded with baking soda) and creatine HCL help the uptake with less acidity. Krealkelyn has been studied to produce a PH of above 7.
3- Take creatine POST workout. Most companies have you believe it's effective preworkout when in fact your body processes it faster post workout when your at your lowest ATP level.
4- Use good insulin mimickers and low glycemic forms of sugar. If you can try and avoid high sugar. I sometimes suggest waxy maize with vanadyl sulfate. While some may argue that waxy maize has no evidence of it working better than maltodextrin, it still is a carrier and has little impact on insulin. Vanadyl is a great insulin mimicker.
Hopefull that helps. Train and diet accordingly to your goals and you should see success. A little fat burner wouldn't hurt as well

Re: Ask hateraid supplement advice PtII
Glad to see this thread as I have a few questions myself.
20 y/o 6'5" 210 with a pretty lanky body that I'm trying to pack some more muscle on. I have just enough fat around my stomach so abs aren't visible, but not by alot.
I'm planning on bulking up until around March or so. Hopefully getting up to ~220-225 without adding much fat, mostly lean gains. I'm currently taking Syntha6 protein (almost out), MusclePharm creatine (~2 months of servings left), a multi, and fish oil. I used to take jack3d when I was last lifting alot, last spring, and I liked it alot. I had some leftover, and in the last three weeks I've been working out, I didn't notice much effect.
Also, I workout 4-5 times a week, and the only cardio I get is from 15-20 mins of fairly intense shooting around pre-workout. Should I do more?
Any reccommendations for a protein powder, pre-workout, or anything else?

A lanky frame with fat around the abs is generally a telltale sign of sluggish adrenals and stress. Judging from the fact that a product like jack3d isn't effective it sounds like you adrenals are shot.
Try a stress support product and get you adrenal glands functioning again. This will help to reverse the effects of taking consistant stimulants as well as possibly decreasing midsection fat.
Have you tried cardio after weights?
Optimally you want the initial supplements for preworkout to take effect before training. Doing the cardio post help due to the fact your body will convert to fat for fuel as well as burn off existing lactic acid.
Stick to the multi and fish oil. Those are optimal.
Migh I suggest a switch from Syntha-6 to Fusion-7? Esentially the same category protein minus the fact Fusion has more fibre and less sugar. Optimal for dieting.
Preworkout I would suggest Xpand if you want to experience the quality results over a stimulant rush. More arginine, BCAA's, and amino acids lead to more long term iproved results over tons of stims.

Pasta, rice, pasta, and rice! Cheap by the bulk.
But if you're looking to take a supplement look for a product that has a 4:1 carb to protein ratio. This is a typical hard gainer formula. Remember this is not a meal replacement. this is on top of meals.

Re: Ask hateraid supplement advice PtII
I don't know if it's the Kre-Alkalyn or the placebo effect (or both) but I took one about 30-40 minutes before my workout (just this one time to see if I could feel it instantly) and was able to pump out 2-3 more reps per set at 15-20 lbs more than I usually lift. For leg exercises, I was able to hammer out all my sets without much rest and I feel a lot less tired after a pretty intense workout. This is the first day I've tried it so I'll see how the results are on it in a few weeks. Took another one after my workout.

Re: Ask hateraid supplement advice PtII
Supposedly Krealkalyn is THE creatine. I've read regular Creatine Monohydrate works, but it's like taking a Civic when you can take, say a Ferrari. The Civic will take you there, but the Enzo will get you there FASTER. Plus you'll look better using it. :oldlol: The only supplement I've ever tried was Whey and it *worked*, but I'm hearing a lot more S&C people online make Creatine (Especially Krealkalyn) their supplement of choice. Once I get my goal weight of 180 naturally I'll probably try getting my hands on them too. Good luck, Grinder.
