they still have plenty of wild animals including wolves, brown bears, lynxes, and foxes.
they just don't really have any especially unique large animals.
even if you look at the extinct animals [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_extinct_animals_of_Europe[/url] there isn't too much there. most of them are just variations of their african cousins.
