This is the most Jordan bashing I've seen here!!
i'll never understand why Kobe couldn't have learned to pass earlier in his career than now. i know he's capable and probably has always been capable but its just bball IQ to pass it for easy baskets when everyone is so focused on you. MJ figured it out way earlier than Kobe, and to think Kobe just got it this late in his career is just pitiful. he's a beast this year but really stupid way too many games throughout his previous career to not hold it against him. they wouldn't have ever needed nash if Kobe played like this before.
the ring argument has so much to do with luck its lame when people play it so hard.
:applause:
I'm disappointed in Jordan's logic. Perhaps he's talking about their career and with the mindset that nothing else but rings matters. If so that's a good mentality to have, but still doesn't mean that the player with more championship is better than the more dominant player, especially when that other player has been in the league much longer. This interview also probably happened before Lebron's stretch. But either Jordan believes that championships are everything, but he should look at it who he would pick to start a franchise.
MJ knows deep down that if Lebron continues improve, he may go down as the new GOAT therefore by picking Kobe, he some how keeps himself legit number 1 because based on efficiency MJ is greater then Kobe.
I actually think MJ is set against LeBron. From memory I've never really heard him say anything overly positive about the guy. Right now it feels like he has to begrudgingly acknowledge LeBron's ability.
MJ has totally lost it.
He is just rewarding kobe with his kobe's dog like cheap immitation of his game.
MJ knows LBJ is original product cuz da man has his own style & game. something kobe seriously lacks.
Anyone who picks Kobe over LBJ since 2008 is a full retard, & that includes MJ.
Deep down Kobe probably did the biggest fist pump possible when he heard this :oldlol:
He's talking most successful, which is career-wise.
I mean, career-wise, Kobe does have a slightly better resume. LeBron will definitely surpass him in due time.
MJ sounds kindof like a Kobetard, he refuses to call Lebron better than Kobe, since forever... the only compliment he ever gave to Lebron was the likes of: "He is good"... You really think so MJ?
People can even ask MJ: "Who do you think is playing better NOW, not 10 years ago, as in it has nothing to do with career accomplishments".... Jordan would still go: "Kobe, 5 is more than 1"... Kobe can retire he would probably still "pick" him... 5 rings...
By his own reasoning, that means:
1. Bill Russell clearly gets the nod over Jordan himself. Eleven is bigger than six....
2. Jordan was not playing better than Bird or Magic in 1991.... because he had only 1 ring and Magic/Bird had many more....
Come on MJ......

You're being a butthurt bitch.
Jordan has never spoken that highly of any current player, including Kobe. Remember the "Kobe is a top 10 guard of all time" comment? Yeah, blatant back-handed compliment.
You're crying just because Jordan isn't all over Lebron's dick.
You're being a butthurt bitch.

Isnt Kobe a top 10 guard of all time? That i consider is very true and is a compliment.... why is it back-handed just because he didnt want to categorise Kobe (and himself) more thoroughly?
Certainly a compliment it seems he wouldnt dare express upon Lebron even though he is a top 10 SF of all time....
I am not butthurt, but it seems like MJ just might be... its getting more and more obvious...

Because it was an obvious understatement.

Jordan has said according to Kobe people that Kobe is the only one that has put in the work to be compared to him, he has called Kobe the best in the league even when Lebron was clear MVP. And whenever someone ask Jordan is he's the greatest of all time he talks about all the great players there have been, doesn't want to disrespect them. So Jordan is not going to say Kobe is a top 5 guard of all time and in so saying he's number 1, and discounting people like Magic, Stockton and other point guards, since you people forget that it was guards that they were talking about and not just shooting guards.
Because it was an obvious understatement.
To a Kobe stan.
Because it was an obvious understatement.
How?
Such anger
How?
If a guy is a top 5 or top 3 guard all time, calling them top 10 is an understatement.
If I said "LeBron is a top 10 player in the NBA today" is that a good thing or a bad thing? If someone is top 3, you don't say top 10.
How?
It's like referring to MJ as a top 10 player
It's like referring to MJ as a top 10 player
If you ask Jordan in an interview and not where he ranks, he'll say top 10 guard of all time, because he's always talking about not being disrespectful to other all time great guards. And remember, he wasn't talking about just shooting guards.

Wouldnt it be a bit strange if Kobe referred to MJ as a top 10 player, because he doesn't want to disrespect the other greats?

What do you want him to say? That he's top 3? So what? Only MJ and Magic are ahead of him? That's all? I know for a FACT that Jordan doesn't think Kobe is better than Oscar. I don't think Mike is gonna disrespect guys like Jerry West by just putting Kobe over him. You won't even hear MJ put himself over the guys that came before him, but he's gonna do it for Kobe?
You won't even hear MJ put himself over the guys that came before him, but he's gonna do it for Kobe?
What? MJ just said last year that the top 2 players ever are him and Kobe. He puts himself top all time above everyone who came before him and after him. He's got no problem putting himself above anyone.

Last I knew, 5 and/or 3 was within "top 10," thus making it a true statement.
Top 10 means just that. It encompasses 1-10. It says nothing about position. Any ranking within that range is top 10.

Again, it's like someone referring to MJ as top 10 all time. If you find nothing wrong with that then it's fine to say Kobe is top 10 guard of all time.

Kobe and Jordan are two different people. Kobe calls Jordan the greatest to ever play the game, which is something that Jordan is considered by most.
Edit: In my original post I meant Jordan, but wrote Kobe by mistake. I fixed it. So sorry if you understood what I meant in a different light.
Edit: I re edited over ten minutes ago, but ish was not responding.

And most consider Kobe the 3rd best guard, arguably 2nd by casuals

I think it's perfectly fine to say Kobe is a top 5 guard but I also think it's legit to ague that he's top 10 and that the top 5 is debatable. I would personally put him over a guy like Jerry West, but I can understand why someone would hesitate to do so.

Debatable is top 3. Magic and Jordan are above him, with West being debatable over him. That makes 3 debatable. Which other 2 guards are debatable?
Debatable is top 3. Magic and Jordan are above him, with West being debatable over him. That makes 3 debatable. Which other 2 guards are debatable?
What about Magic Johnson?
Debatable is top 3. Magic and Jordan are above him, with West being debatable over him. That makes 3 debatable. Which other 2 guards are debatable?
Well, Oscar is pretty much not debatable. Wade to me is debatable as being a better SG than Kobe. I just don't think MJ wants to definitively say Kobe is top 5 because that would mean he is without question above guys like Dr. J and Havlicek.
Keep in mind that I personally weigh who I believe is the better player to be more important that career accomplishments and "legacy" arguments.
Like I said. I think Kobe is without question a superior player than Jerry West ever was, but I can understand why other people would rank West over Kobe.

Did you guys see the actual video just now on Inside the NBA? It was much more in context. Video and audio > than written text.
Pathetic on how much importance these guys place on rings on judging who was a better player.
So based on this logic...Jordan thinks Russell is the greatest - including over himself. Good to know.
Its just norms for the GOAT to pick the future GOAT..
People should not be surprise with this anymore..
Picking Kobe is usually expected choice from anyone maybe except retarded LeBron Stans..
MJ was a nice player but he's a terrible talent evaluator. Kwame Brown and Rodney White my a$$. No wonder he'd pick Robert Horry over the likes of Karl Malone/Patrick Ewing/Charles Barkley.
MJ really has that Bobcats team running well. GOAT talent evaluator
Jordan is an ISH kobe stan the way he uses terrible logic to try to prove a point. If you are going to go with kobe over lbj then use his strong points like his man defense in his prime or his ability to create offense for himself. 5 ringz! is just weak.
Russell > MJ confirmed. 11ringz!!?!?!
