Alcohol prohibition showed us more than anything the folly of prohibition. In that period alcohol related deaths skyrocketed as people produced things like moonshine, criminals got rich and organized and gained massive power and influence, crime also skyrocketed, and alcohol consumption barely changed.

The same is true with all other drugs: once it is illegal it becomes far more dangerous, and creates a huge demand for crime, while spending billions on tackling that same self-created crime. It is a joke that ruins so many lives both in this country and elsewhere. And it is driven by the ignorance of people like you who say: 'i dunno i could be wrong, but these drugs should be illegal because i think they're too dangerous to let people make their own decision' - please.

I just posted the other day plenty programs and initiatives that exist to stop the violence in Chicago and cities across the country. If people really care about black on black crime (strange term because studies show that majority of crime against any race is done by people of the same race) they would simply google it and you find plenty of efforts underway to prevent it.. even the boogeyman Sharpton and jesse Jackson & the black caucus have a multitude of projects aimed at crime specifically in chicago... So Oreilly is being dishonest when he pretends there isnt any...

Crime in the city is a big problem and some of it is a personal choice issue, but as usual with some people B.O. simply misrepresents it and tries to use it to bash folks..

I'm totally on your site here. Illegality doesn't prevent people from taking drugs. It's a decision you make yourself and it doesn't matter where it comes from.

Legality would drastically change drugrelated crime and health issues from laced drugs instantly.

People won't go to work high on meth, coke or H. Why should they start that? I'm mean they very same people could go to work drunk drunk right now.

Regarding the OP: What alot people fail to see imo is that those problems aren't problems of ethnicity(we've got no "blacks" problem here, but issues regarding immigration) but of poverty. Alot of inner city black might be poor, but that's not because they're black. Your education system doesn't really help underprivileged people to improve their status within society. If the outview on life of those kids wouldn't be as bleak there wouldn't be as many teenage pregnancies, drug related crimes etcetc.

I never heard the term "white on White" crime although the Chicago murder rate in 1930(peak of prohibition) was roughly the same as Chicago today. There were running machine gun battles through the streets of Chicago in the 20's/30's.

When leaders saw the Irish & Italian gangs( "white on white" crime) they addressed the root cause head on; the War on Drugs(alcohol) & also banned machine guns.
Today they refuse to seriously consider even discussing the War on Drugs especially(which affects Hispanic nations even worse) & gun control.
