What people are underestimating is athletes look at franchises.
The fu*king wolves have been a mostly losing franchise now for AWHILE.
The lakers organization even while in flux are still an attractive free agent destination that have shown they are committed to at LEAST putting a competitive product on the floor.
What help has Minnesota given Love over the years really?
California, Hollywood, warm winters and a famous franchise or freezing bitter cold Minnesota that stays losing?

and Love + A rookie isnt better than what he has in Minny
But he has a way better chance of getting star players to come to LA than he would in Minny. Melo and Love would be a good combo. Love can rebound all the bricks Melo chucks up.
Durant isn't coming in 2016 :oldlol: pipe dreams. I'd trade for Love if we spend money on a free agent this summer and the capspace is looking slim. Otherwise just save some space for him.
It's a possibility, especially if the Thunder keep coming up short. I'm not saying it's 100% fact he is but I'm pretty sure he is the main player that the Lakers are targeting with our cap space. We will have the cap space in 2016 when Kobe's 2yr contract ends.
The biggest signing this summer will most likely be the rookie and another player at around 40 mil or less.

I mean it's just common sense.
Do I stay at a company that hasn't been great or leave for a company that has a good reputation for excelling?
Regardless of the condition the lakers are in right now you know they'll be out there making moves.

Between now and the next 3 seasons the Thunder will be in at least one NBA finals. Durant ain't leaving considering the the Thunder will make more moves to surround him with talent. Remember all those rumours of Lebron to Lakers? Yeah how did those turn out

Lakers were never really in a position to get Lebron. When he was entering free agency from CLE the Lakers were coming of 2 straight rings. It was mostly just talk radio saying the Lakers were after Lebron this summer but it was long-shot to expect him to leave the Heat.
Anyways over the past couple of season the Thunder have actually been subtracting from their talent and not adding to it. (Martin,Harden,Green,Maynor,Robinson) They have maxed out with their cap space and have chosen their core guys to be Durant, Westbrook, & Ibaka. They don't have any cap room to make any big signings in the next few seasons. They are hoping that they their young players (Lamb,Adams, Jones) can develop in the next couple of seasons. So the Thunder won't be able to surround Durant with any more than they have now leading into his free agency. And I'm not fully convinced that their core can win rings yet.

The Lakers are unquestionably one of the top destinations for basketball players from all over the world and will continue to be so..

What the hell are you talking about? You got some serious issues with the Lakers. What happened to you man? What happened in your life that made you hate the Lakers so bad? It must have been something tragic to cause you to spend your life spewing hate towards a professional sports team. Just wondering, because I've only seen you post negative things about the Lakers, can't remember seeing you post about anything else or any other teams. Were you wronged in some way by a Laker fan in real life, abused maybe? I'd really like to know your motivation is, or what incident caused you to harbor such animosity. Let me know if you want to open up about this, whatever you say will be totally confidential.

No surprise. But I must say, Lakers go from Elgin Baylor to Jerry West to Wilt Chamberlain to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Magic Johnson to Shaquille O'Neal to Kobe Bryant to .........Kevin Love? A dude that hasn't been able to get to the playoffs in 6 years. Sounds like a significant downgrade.

Lakers will not make Love the face of the franchise but a part of it. Kobe's contract will expire in 2016, Lakers will target another player, perhaps Durant, and it's looking like the Lakers will end up with a high draft pick to build around.

So you do agree that it is not something to brag about when a player plays all or most of his career for a big market team with good amount of success before him. Good to know some laker fans on this forum are mature.

They'd only play for one season so it would be can Carmelo, Love and 2016 free agent coexist.

Re: NBA Executive on Kevin Love:
LoL @ Lakers fans on here acting like its a forgone conclusion right now to think that a franchise player (KD) who is amidst a team that has been top 3 in the league when healthy the last 3 years is going to leave for the bottom feeder the Lakers have been the last 2 seasons. The rebuild is going to be real, and players around the league observing the state of affairs in Lakersland surely notice. KD is not leaving a great situation for a shitty situation. Neither is Westbrook.
Now, will Kevin Love leave an equally shitty situation for a less shitty situation? Not only do I think he should, but I think he will. What does he have to lose? Playing for a rebuilding Lakers franchise can't be any worse than playing for an incompetent franchise that's been "rebuilding" for the last 7-8 years.
But, KD? You guys sound like desperate wish-thinkers with that one. As desperate as some Knicks fans were during the summer that somehow LeBron would still come to NY this offseason :lol

NYers thought Jay Z would bring KD to the Nets, that he became an agent to bestow NY with all these players. Then he sent Cano to Seattle and that got shot to hell.
