Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
They're good guys. But that's the problem. I want my 'best player in the league', whichever one of the two it is, to be a complete asshole. Bird was an asshole. As was Jordan. As was Kobe. Lebron is more annoying than an asshole. Durant is too nice and it's cringeworthy watching him trying not to be. This soft ass buddy buddy shit era has turned the superstars soft and I don't like it. CP3 and Westbrook are old school though.
Cousins hears you on everything but Paul, ironically. :oldlol:

Cavs fan. I understand your hatred for LeBran Jaim, but KD? Why? Dude's the most likeable superstar right now...maybe even all-time.
He's not a superstar.
Superstar = MJ, Kobe, LeBron*
Everyone else is just a star regardless of how superior or inferior they may be as players.

You really think the media and general public hold KD as high on the pedestal as they do with LeBron*?
Face it, KD is second tier to LeBron* in terms of publicity, I don't agree with it, but it's reality.

Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
You have a weird definition of superstar.
Put it this way, if a player is the overwhelming favorite to win MVP, he's a god damn superstar. Hop off it.
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
I'm not a particularly big fan of either player, although I definitely prefer Durant.

No, he's just an MVP.
If KD wins the award (as he should) I guarantee you that the media is going to go apewild and try to forcefeed the public any mention about LeBron*. Why? Because he gets ratings, he's the face of the NBA, not KD. There WILL be commentators and anchors talking about how KD got it over LeBron*...
Tell me this, did Karl Malone get branded or treated like a superstar when he won the MVP over MJ?
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
So, essentially, the only superstars are the best player in the league + Jordan.
Karl Malone wasn't a superstar? lol
gonna list some names and tell me if they were ever superstars
Shaq
Garnett
Duncan
Wade
Dirk
Hakeem
Barkley

It's whatever the media deems them to be. Ever since MJ the media's been slobbering over any players d!ck that's been supposed to be the next MJ. Only TWO players have come close: Kobe and LeBron. And the media has whored them out to the public without shame.
Superstar does NOT mean 'best player in the league'.
Should KD be a superstar? Yes. To me he is... but your general schmoe off the street or even average basketball fan won't tell you that.

Nope, he (Malone) didn't get the media exposure. Shaq did, but his time was brief between the time MJ stepped off the court in '98 until Kobe came to be a great player (didnt take long).
Only person from your list that I'd consider a superstar is Barkley, I remember he got a LOT of attention in the early 90s. Hakeem never came close.

Duncan, Shaq, Dirk and Garnett are Superstars.
Wade is a Superstar too I guess, but he's always needed THE most dominant player in the League to be relevant.
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
Anyone who is even remotely interested in the NBA or has watched a full game in the last 3 years will tell you Durant is a superstar, without hesitation.
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
I'm in your boat. I like Carmelo more than both of them tbh

Uhh, the media DOES recognize him as a superstar. Whether he is "marketable" or not, is something different all together.
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
How about we make a new rule that you can't be considered a Superstar til you make or win a Finals?
I'm looking at you Paul George.
Didn't see Hakeem on your list, he's a Superstar too.
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
LeBron isn't in my top 5 of favorite players in the league, but I defend him because he's on the Heat. I do like him and I don't think he's as bad personality wise as people make him out to be. Yah he's arrogant, but he's been the "chosen one" since his teenage years. I can understand why he would be that way, but I think he's matured a lot more since first coming to Miami. He does still say stupid things though.
I also like Durant. There's nothing for me to dislike about him. Yah the refs give him a ton of FTs and I don't buy the "most humble player in the league" thing, but it's not like he's bad off the court. He's just a normal guy (personality wise) who is an elite basketball player. I don't expect the players to be robots on the court.
Both players are likable. Both players have their flaws. Do not hate the players because of their stans. Appreciate both players and you will find yourself enjoying basketball a bit more.
Oh I appreciate basketball plenty, I love watching them play but their personalities are horrendous. They whine and whine and whine and that gets annoying but when it comes down to it, I still love watching them put the ball in the hoop.
I can understand not liking the way Durant complains to refs, but he's just looking for an edge and trying his best to win games. You can't really look down at that, do whatever it takes to win. Off the court, he's probably the most likable player in NBA history.
I really don't understand how you can say he's even close to the most likable.

Duncan.
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
I enjoy watching both guys play. It's a shame that some people can't just enjoy great players and have to hate on them for whatever reason.
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
Nobody is actually a fan of KD. They just hate Lebron.
Two years ago, they were Kobe fans. Kobe is really their favorite player.
They switched to Rose at the beginning of the season
Then Paul George
Then Durant
Then Carmelo
Then Kobe for his brief return
Then back to Durant, where they have remained.
Once again, Durant has no fans (stans). They are Lebron haters/Kobe fans.
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like LBJ or Durant very much?
I lost my respect for Kevin Durant when he immediately stormed off the court and didn't shake anyone's hands after choking against the Suns. He was all smiles and friendly when the Thunder were up big, but the Suns came from behind to win at the end and KD showed his true colors as a sore butt-hurt immature little kid.
I guarantee if the Thunder won that game he would've been high fiving all the Suns players and taking his time before leaving the court. Fake ass mofo
