I think people are missing Taj's point.
That LeBron is probably the best player/been this "generations" best talent. That's it. Why are people turning into a comparison ? If it's Michael Jordan of this era, I'm pretty Taj understands Jordan is better. If he thought even more of LeBron, he would have called him the GOAT, which he didn't.
I know a LeBron Stan like yourself can't comprehend this, but that actually describes the exact essence of being very competitive ... essentially trying to become a pro at another sport you hadn't played since HS?
Nice try, but MJ still had 3yrs left on his contract and decided to quit. He chose not to provide what he legally signed on for.
MJ isn't like LeBron where he only "competes" if the deck is stacked in his favor. You know, like a coward. That ever looming fear of failure. Jordan just competes, flat out. Whether it's trying to play baseball, or coming back past his prime to win 2x more MVPs, and another three peat.
If LeBron was scared of failure, then he would have pulled a Kobe and told Cleveland not to draft him. He would have never signed an extension with Cleveland his first time around.
Jordan came back a few weeks before the playoffs started and came up short. That's really competing for a title.
LeBron too scared to even enter the dunk contest in fear of coming up short of expectations. Oh yea, Jordan didn't do the team hopping thing either to upgrade rosters every few years.
No he didn't, but he either took some really bad advice or is really ****ing dumb for signing an 8yr contract. Kind of hard to go to a different team when we both know the Bulls would not trade him during those 8yrs.
Hell.... MJ's lucky that the time off he took was still counting as years played or he wouldn't have been a UFA until the end of the 97-98 season. Still playing for crumbs.

Don't use common sense. It is MJ we are talking about. Unless you don't say that lebron would not be able to score 10 ppg in the 90s, these guys will not be satisfied.
I don't think any players of his era would be calling MJ "a bitch" multiple times to his face, or the opposing team's rookies in a playoff series being so confident to say there is no one on the other side of the ball that frightens them.
The repercussions they would surely face would never allow them to say that and unlike James, Mike's contemporaries respected him. He wasn't a coward, trying to stack the deck.
As Kobe described, the league was so shook by Jordan's dominance, skill, athleticism, game, trash talk, look and temperment ... that his teammates, presumably Eddie Jones was urging young Kobe
TO NOT EVEN LOOK HIM IN THE EYE
Meanwhile guys routinely clown LeBron for his uncompetitive, BETA status. No knock on his abilities, he's top ten. But given his cowardly nature, and lack of swagger, cool factor and certainly not his intimidation game ... contemporaries just aren't frightened by him.
Being the MJ of your era isn't exclusively related to on court dominance. It was his swagger, style, innate gravitas for the moment, and the level of fear he instilled in opponents.
And even then, LeBron while mighty impressive, doesn't even have the on court individual dominance, or success through leadership in winning that Jordan experienced.
Even if ranked as underdogs in the '93 ECF, and '93 Finals ... Jordan just absolutely never failed to deliver. LeBron overall has met hype, but has failed to meet expectations a number of times. MJ always over delivered.
This is where I gotta stick up for LeBron. People use LBJ's lack of a mean streak (for lack of a better discription), as if it's something bad...it really isn't. He's been successful being the way he is, he could've handled things better in the past but he's only human. We know Bron isn't the kind of dude that'll get in other people's faces, he's a none confrontational type person. If he's not like MJ, Kobe, Bird etc, what's the big deal? He had that monster 2012 postseason run, and he didn't need to turn into an asshole :confusedshrug:
We give LeBron a ton of shit here but it's mostly to piss off his delusional stans (in my case). I personally don't hate him, after all, he's an MJ stan, just like Kobe. :lol
I wasn't bashing LeBron. Just telling the truth. I freely admit he's top ten, and most likely the best player overall since Mike.
Yes, better than Kobe, Duncan, and Shaq.
Jordan, and lesser extent Kobe played with chips on their shoulder with something to prove. Guys like Shaq, or Wilt, or LeBron ... so inherently gifted that things came easy to them so they had nothing to prove.
That is the difference ultimately between the fear of failure, and the thirst to win. The latter for people who don't get shook by the moment.
so things didn't come easy for Jordan and Kobe? That doesn't really make sense. no one on this site could ever hope to be as good as them and you imply things didn't come easy for them. Jordan and Kobe had inherent talent that no one on this site has.
You Jordan stans are something. No one on the Knicks backed down to MJ, Starks looked him in the eye and no fear, Oak and Mase, even X-man looked him in the eye and didn't get scared. I think even Reggie Miller got into a fight with him back in the day. That whole everyone being afraid to look him in the eye is all myth. It just didn't help the Knicks beat him that's all. But let's not act like MJ didn't get help from Scottie after stinking up the joint in game 3 down 0-2 to the Knicks either.
That being said, Lebron is a btch and nowhere close to the MJ of this generation. The competitive desire ain't there. Is the talent? Sure. Is the dominating the East? Sure. But the heart and desire to do nothing but win is nowhere near. There IS NO MJ of this generation.
Drake the type of dude that'll apologize if you step on his shoe.
Even his mother in law say he too nice.
Drake's father in law would rather have his daughter marry a McDonald's manager because at least he'd have a spine.
Drake the type of dude that'll go the the strip club to talk to the hos.
Drake man.... f*ckin Drake.

Kenny said Vernon would say something to the likes of "If you score again, I'm gonna get mad". Jordan would score and Vernon would get up in Jordan's face. Vernon literally got mad at Jordan for taking a dump on him :oldlol: That's not the case with Bron.
ignore what? kenny smith himself said vernon maxwell would talk shit to jordan in his face. :confusedshrug:

About Parish and Cartwright, if MJ got on their face and if they told him to step back son, then it is what it is. That's far from running away like a scared little girl like you're trying to twist it, they still played together, won and celebrated together...only Mike knew not to try and intimidate them in practice :lol
That is very different than what happened with Marion and Terry, they talked shit to his face and took his soul in 11 and left Bran shook. Vernon Maxwell could talk all he wants, don't mean shit if you can't back it up. To lazy to look but if you put their head to head stats, I'm pretty MJ won those matchups :oldlol:
drake the type of dude to wave with both hands.

drake the type of dude to ride a horse with both legs on one side.
drake the type of dude to return his shopping carts all the way back to the entrance.
drake the type of dude to wrap his fingers around the telephone cord while talking.
Did u just say most competitive with lebron?  reference: the decision
Do you even know what that is? What being very competitive in basketball means is having that fire that burns to go out on the court and beat the opponent, they are extremly confident in their ability, have usually huge egos & cockiness.... they have that "I am better than anybody in the world" mindset and they will let you know about it, by game and sometimes even by mouth, if you dont already know about it.... to compete for the win (win or lose) and to compete against yourself to see just how good you can really be, preferably become the best/best ever..... this innate quality is born by ability / confidence in that ability, they KNOW they are better than anybody else and dont feel good about a lesser team/player beating them, they have a ridicilous determination/will to win because of it and demand it out from their teammates/franchise etc. and do whatever it takes to win.... and when it doesnt come they are pissed about it or as you can call it with other words being massive "sore losers"...
Being a "sore loser" in a loss is being disappointed/pissed at yourself for perhaps underperforming or for your teammates not being good enough.... they want to be the best on the floor and win every single time.... anything else is unacceptable....
They work harder than anybody else, pushing themselves to be the best in the game / best ever, thats the mindset...
It’s that competitive nature that also makes you a great teammate and allows you to be a player that other coaches and teammates would love to play with / go to war with.....
That you "reference: the decision" is only an example/proof of something that has to do with competitiveness if you look into how competitive he was for 7 straight years before that decision and then why he decided to go somewhere else, he would have stayed there ONLY if he wasnt this competitive, a competitor with Jordans/Lebrons type of talent/skill is not fine with ending up ringless/not taking advantage of his ability/talent simply because the franchise is not/cant be on the same page, being competitive is NOT staying with scrub cast your entire career and because of it taking a loss & loss & loss & loss....... where is the will to win in that decision?... and then think about what he did once he got there in Miami... and then also what he did once he achieved his goal there... which was to go back and challenge himself even further by trying to bring a championship to Cleveland and he wont stop that task until he retired....
Thats everything which Jordan was and Lebron is... and the likes of them were.... (Kobe, Bird, Magic etc.)
Many lesser players were crazy enough to be just as competitive, like Reggie Miller.... Westbrook is the finest example today, but that leaves you nowhere or at least doesnt leave you at the success of Jordan, Lebron, Kobe etc. if you dont have the tools (talent or skills) to actually do what your mind thinks/wants.... (see Westbrook again)
