Lol you are joking right? The gunplay and ai was terrible in tlou. I've heard people say it was made sub par and loose to encourage stealth but the stealth was a let down due to ai and forced ocmbat sections so i doubt that. Uncharted always had its gameplay done much better.
hey west-side
look at ign's new top 100

TLoU being so low is criminal. What it did for storytelling in video games cannot be understated.
It's the GOAT.
Halo 1 and 2 are the GOATs
Like Jordan in his prime
They tick all the boxes
IGN is kind of a joke though. Not exactly gospel.
well, they are the biggest, most popular site in gaming reviews. and ign ratings and critic reviews were all west-side used to prove his point earlier.

i can see why some might love it, but i think it's a bit overrated. story doesn't do as much for me as others.
and we both know who the king of stealth is ;)

I didn't know you were a Splinter Cell fan.
Halo 1 and Halo 2
Gamechangers.
Can we please get this thread back on track as the count down for the new uncharted, slash Uncharted/Naughty Dog discussion.
Not for you guys to have your pissy little whinge fest which has been done to absolute death.
Halo 1/2 as the goat? puh-leese, its not even intelligent debate, just bloody trolling. If we are going off topic, at least be intelligent.
PS. IGN might be one of the most popular gaming sites, but their scores are shit. Look at other popular stuff that is shit: Iphone, beats by dre & justin bieber. Just cause it's popular doesn't mean they have a clue as the general public is filled with idiots like GIFREACTION

It's easily one of the most over rated games of all time, has some major issues and the story is just a flat out mish mash of existing stories. Nothing is original or ground breaking except for the acting and production values. It's a great game don't get me wrong and I enjoyed it, but it's just infuriating when fan boys won't admit it's flaws. Then they turn around and say anyone who doesn't like it is an xbox fanboy and can't accept that other people value different aspects of games (game play is important regardless of how pretty a game is) and didn't enjoy something as much as they did.
Halo 2 is over rated as **** too, the single player campaign was a huge let down but again xbox fan boys won't admit it's flaws. The only halo game that was truly a great game was the first one.
Back on topic I'm really glad they did this uncharted collection, it's great value and a really good lead up to uc4. People are complaining about the re-releases this generation but if you don't like them don't buy them, so far I've enjoyed the ones I've bought. I hope they do a mass effect collection as well and I'm disappointed that microsoft's gears remake is only the first game.
Did other people see the UC4 demo from a few weeks back where they slipped up and mentioned assests from "the first last of us" then got all fumbled making it likely there's a sequel in the works?

Gameplay is extremely important, so it's a good thing TLoU has great gameplay as well.
Anyone who says it wasn't ground breaking in terms of storytelling is lying to themselves. There has never been a video game story of that quality. It's a well told story by ANY standard, not just video game standards.

The way it told the story was groundbreaking, the actual storyline was incredibly predictable and just a bunch of existing movies/books rolled in to one.

Who cares? Most great TV shows and movies of the 21st century are based on shit that's been done a million times. The Sopranos is a show about the mob in the NY/NJ area...cool. That was done 30 years beforehand. True Detective season 1 is essentially a buddy cop show. Etc. Both shows are filled with cliches from their respective genres. Does it matter? No.
Characters and the way the story is told is a million times more important than the overarching plot.

Well you clearly have some insecurities about other people not agreeing with your opinion on a video game.
Halo 1 and 2 school any of the games mentioned ITT
It's not even up for debate
It's just cool to hate on Halo these days
If you babies were alive back then, you would have known the hype
A game franchise that CARRIED AND SAVED a WHOLE console.

The problemwith halo was if you had a pc there were other games doing what halo did just as well or better.

Ffs move on already
GameRankings All-Time Best
Uncharted 2 - 96.43% [82 reviews]
7th best rated game of all-time
The Last Of Us - 95.70% [43 reviews]
19th best rated game of all-time
MGS 2: Sons of Liberty - 95.09% [68 reviews]
26th best rated game of all-time
Guns of the Patriots - 93.53% [85 reviews]
Metal Gear Solid - 93.24% [29 reviews]
MGS 3: Subsistence - 92.97% [66 reviews]
:confusedshrug:
IGN gave Uncharted 2 a 95, Uncharted 3 a 100 & TLOU a 100.
You picking random articles from a perspective of a SINGLE writer from a website is pathetic and demonstrates how stupid you truly are.
Fact is, TLOU & U2 has better overall critic scores & user scores than the best MGS title out there. Both games won GOTY.
Heck, I read an article on IGN last year where they rated the best PS3 titles. Uncharted 2 & TLOU were top 3, Sons of Patriots didn't even make top 20. :oldlol:
On Metacritic
Uncharted 2 - 96 [23rd best all-time]
88% user score
Sons of Liberty - 96 [37th all-time]
87% user score
The Last Of Us - 95 [49th all-time]
91% user score
MGS V: Phantom Pain - 95 [57th all-time]
72% user score
These are aggregates scores comparing games from all the critics that reviewed them respectively, and I've even added the scores USERS of these games gave each title.
Stay mad bruh. :oldlol:
Phantom Pain - 91.62% [54 reviews]

No I didn't you dipshit. :oldlol:
I always used averaged critic scores, which makes the most sense when comparing games. Not one particular article written by ONE editor.
For example.

Here's an article from IGN that rates Uncharted 2 the 7th best modern game of all-time, and Guns of Patriots doesn't even make the top 30 list.

Here's an article that ranks TLOU as the 6th best game of ALL-TIME, MGS 2 is rated 22nd on this list.
http://ca.ign.com/top/games-of-a-generation/59
Guns of Patriots #59
Uncharted 2 #11
The Last of Us #3
These are all articles written by IGN.
It's a stupid way to evaluate two games though. It's written by either 1 editor or by a group of workers for a company.
It's far more telling if you evaluate the aggregate scores from a plethora of websites. Which is what sites like metacritic and gamerankings actually do.
Halo 1 97 on Metacritic - 68 reviews
But that doesn't do it justice
Halo's gaming industry impact was GOAT tier... literally brought to life the Xbox console and made it a legit contender to Playstation. You need more than stats to be GOAT tier. You need Real world IMPACT.
Gamerankings is shit
Halo 1's score on there is flawed because they have a handful of reviews from 2004/2005, when the game came out in 2001. The gaming industry is constantly evolving in capabilities, graphics and function.... Games need to be judged in their respective era, from the critical stand point (reviews/scores) and the Real World Impact...
When you carry a console on your back, you know that game is GOAT tier.

i've done this to death, but it was not groundbreaking by any means. mgs 3 made me way more emotional, had better characters, and mgs 2 blew my mind. tlou did neither. it was just a cool post-apocalyptic game to me, not the messiah of all gaming.
west-side, fvck off and die. im stupid because i can form an opinion of my own?
uncharted and tlou are more widely-acclaimed because they're easier to understand for simple minded imbeciles like you. for anyone who can appreciate mgs and how deep they really are, they blow indiana jones and zombie game out of the park. it's really not even a contest.

Just shows how credible they are. Uncharted 3 better than 2? lmfao.
Let's look at other IGN reviews
MGS: 98
MGS 2: 97
MGS 3: 98
MGS 4: 100
MGS V: 100
Didn't really think that through did you? Even then, 4 and V are still not as good as the first 3, yet they have higher scores.
lol you get owned eat a dick
I still don't know what you think of the game. The better question would be, have you played it? Because you clearly can't speak for yourself.
"Best characterization of all-time"
This is too much. Seriously, how many games have you actually played all the way through? Three? Four?
