Re: OT: Targus's "Rate a Poster" Thread
I"ll rate some posters I'm familiar with myself
Elementally morale - Nothing wrong with him. A good poster. The difference between me and him however is evident.
He calls me passionate while I see him as calm, laid back type. I've never seen him get in wars with people or something.
His knowledge of the game is pretty good, too but doesn't post consistently so it's hard to judge. Has been on these boards for a long time but always posts like 2 days or so and then he's gone for a month.
Anyway, knows what he's talking about and is just too calm, patient and all and that makes him good at analyzing many things.
Hotsizzle - Ditto for the "realistic Kobe fan syndrome" That's how Sizzle tried to be at first and indeed, he was one of a few Laker fans to have a good rep around here.
Overall, we usually agree on most things which means he's very knowledgable, makes great arguments at times.
He is also a nice guy, never fights with people, always tolerant and all that.
Nothing but good about him.
Great head on his shoulders too. Probably one of the least biased people here.
Kobe24 - Has a very bad rep that he didn't quite deserve. Doesn't he still have a tag that he's obsessed with defending Kobe or something like that?
That is all but true about him. He's a Kobe fan but will bash Kobe when he feels Kobe deserves to be bashed.
So basically, I feel he has a bad rep because of his username and the fact that he's a Laker fan but that's more of a thing from the past, on old board it was like if you were a Kobe/Lakers fan, they'd think of you as an intrudor or something.
Good poster.
Whoever posts in this thread and I'm familiar with that person, he will get rated by me, no one will get a pass.
As for those rating me, this isn't my primary username. It's Soccer10.
Come on then, i know we have had arguments before but i want you to rate me, i'm ready for the abuse, it will be funny.

Age makes a difference. I know I say it too many times but it really does. When I was your age, I was WAAAAAAAAAY worse and way more passionate than you are now. As for my posting habits, I used to post every day several years ago. Before your time. I had more than 15 thousand posts here at ISH over the years. There were times when guys (posters) wanted and voted me to be a moderator of the main board... Nowadays I take it easy when it comes to posting. I read a lot though.

Okay but you asked for it and no it won't be funny, I"ll be serious.
20 Dimes A Game - You're still a project. You're 13 years old and by no means ready to participate in some arguments here because you still have no feel for a lot of things about basketball and you simply can't be so knowledgable at your age.
That's why I really don't pay attention to your posts much. You're a project.
You seem as a nice kid but that's all I can say..
Keep reading the site, keep watching NBA and you"ll get good but at 13, I don't think you're ready to enter some topics here as many things are far too complexed for a young guy like yourself.
I remember when me and my friends argued when we were that old and main arguments were stats. How can a player A be be better than a player B if player B gets 3 more points and 1 more rebound.
That's how I feel about you right now. You aren't ready to really make some judgements but just keep reading, you"ll get better.

Re: OT: Targus's "Rate a Poster" Thread
I know what you mean. You wont believe how many times though something that is said about Bryant is misinterpreted and the wars start...actually you probably do know what I mean. I try to make sure I get my point across clearly by making sure I eliminate what I don't mean.
I do believe you, because I started just like you. 5 years ago.

Re: OT: Targus's "Rate a Poster" Thread
His knowledge of the game is pretty good, too but doesn't post consistently so it's hard to judge.
I'll be my own judge then. No, my factual knowledge of the NBA game is nothing much to write home about. There are plenty of guys around here who know the NBA game more than I do, and even more posters who know today's players, stats and intangibles more than I do.
That's the reason I usually don't analyze 'pure basketball'. GoBB, kBlaze, GeeWiz, psileas, Loki, Shogon and Liberalo blow me away in that regard. I don't want to humiliate myself getting into a factual discussion with them (you). However, I have a different view on basketball.
The reason for this is that I don't watch basketball for the sport. Actually, I almost don't care for the sport any more. It's a hobby. I watch and read all this because this is a very interesting view on American and international culture, society and people in general. I watch it for the 'big picture'. For the stories that evolve over the years, like the Kobe-saga or the 'Garnett-situation'. That's what I like about watching and reading about it almost every day.
As for the everyday facts and Xs and Os in a given game I'm close to useless. When it comes to analyzing players and situations over the years... that's a different story.

Ok, i have taken that in, and it was not as bad as i thought it would be.
But, i understand your point but alot of what i say will sound different to you but that is partly due to the reasons you stated and mostly due to the points i make are from the view of an English baller, and the game is very different over here. And i will continue to post and i will have a ton of posts by the time i am old enought to contibute to conversation.
Says the guy who refuses to grow up despite being in his mid-20s.
What is exactally is "growing up" and why should I do it? Having a bit of a laugh is a great asset, guess that's why I've got heaps of friends. I'm not big on stupid things like having a stable job, being all serious, looking to the future. Think old and you are old.
And mid-20's is still young my friend. If I was in my 40's and being a moron that would be questionable, but still my choice.
Having a discussion about improving yourself is never gay.
Yes it is when the posters are saying crap that isn't neccesarily true.
Poster 1: "Poster 2 is soo cool. He enters discussions and has unlimited basketball knowledge.
Poster 2: "Thanks mang, I love you!"
Poster 1: "No, I love you!"
What gives somebody the right to tel lsomeone they are too young to post replies to a certain thread?
Moronic.

geewiz gets exposed for his lack of knowledge daily.
Shogun is a homer and doesn't know all that much.
Liberalo was a terrible poster, now he's approaching so-so.

Your hard-on is exposed.
And I am no soccer fan, it's a terrible sport. It's almost as bad as cricket or baseball.
Can I post the topless pic of you and Beckham? I don't know why I'm asking, I'll do it regardless of your answer.

Re: OT: Targus's "Rate a Poster" Thread
What is exactally is "growing up" and why should I do it?
You shouldn't. As for me you can act like an 8 year old 'til you are 68. But I wasn't talking about 'be an integral part of society' type of growing up. I was talking about 'try not to be a total assshole resembling of someone still in kindergarten' type of growing up. But you are right, it is still your choice.
However, I won't be answering your next reply in case there will be one, because I have a tendency to talk to people whom I feel it is worth talking to. Kids are nice, but arrogant kids are not that nice.
If I want an 8-yeard-old, I have my own daughter.

Re: OT: Targus's "Rate a Poster" Thread
I will rate Nowitzki41MFFL/Howard5Dirk41
June 2006-February 2007: One of the worst posters on this board, had no job and lots of free time, created alot of made up crap, tried on purpose to be annoying, over the top homer guy.
February 2007-Present: Much improved, not alot of free time, sees Avery is overrated as a coach, sees Dirk Nowitzki as a good player but is not a player than can say **** IT and take over a game, has played like a wet napkin vs the Warriors.
Overall 5/10 but improving.

Re: OT: Targus's "Rate a Poster" Thread
I don't think Beckham is a great footballer at all, he lacks skill in many areas and doesn't have a killer instinct. He's all show and therefore popular with average fans. He's like the Vince Carter of soccer.
You can rate me if you like, I'm up for a laugh.

Beckham was a good midfielder like... I dunno. Like 8 years ago. He has a great freekick. And great marketing. Furthermore, according to the face-recognition-software, I look 64% like him. :oldlol: Here is some proof.

I'm not fond of him as a player though, either.
As for you, my only problem with you as that you don't post often enough any more, and when you do, you are mainly talking only to sakF and Qwuijbo and not really to anyone else. Not that I don't understand it...
EDIT: I'd like to add that you're one of the best I've seen online when it comes to using Photoshop. Not only technically, but images you create are usually witty, too. You are the Joey Zaza of PS at ISH. Yinka Dare deserves an honorable mention.

Re: OT: Targus's "Rate a Poster" Thread
Beckham has tremendous knowledge of the game and his skill is unbelievable. Those are his two strong points.

Thank you very much for the compliment, you are too kind.
I admit I haven't been posting as much lately. Something inside me has recently become a bit fed-up with all the petty bickering and irrational hate that gets so frequently seen on ISH. I still read the threads, but often I just find myself sitting back and shaking my head rather than throwing my 2 cents on top of a pile of change that has become so rusty and corroded that it hardly has any value any more.

I was so happy when we got rid of tmacman yesterday. I reported him once, and Jeff didn't do anything. Then I just went off on Jeff on one of his threads about unregistered people, and he finally banned him.
Anyways, Geewiz deserve some credit on getting those morons out of the board.

There is other than assskissing here if you read carefully. But OK, here you go.
You are obviously intelligent and matured a lot sooner than your age. It did you many good and many bad things.
Speaking of the bad, you acquired the 'Shogon-syndrome' along the way. Young guys with that syndrome have a tendency to think that because they are more knowledgable than their contemporaries and their environment, they are also the sh!t, and noone knows anything better than them. Your worst period was 1-2 years ago, and now you are starting to heal. It's a long process though. I know, because I also had the Shogon-syndrome when I was a teenager.
Sometimes you want to argue things with intelligence that cannot be argued using intelligence. Experience is a nice example. Knowing the facts is another. You are smart, but you let your smarts convince you that because of it you also always know better. Sometimes you're right, at other times not really.
You also are not very good at admitting that guys inferior to you in the IQ-department may add valuable thoughts to a discussion, too. Pretty often the most interesting arguments come from guys who are not the smartest. Sometime down the road you'll have to incorporate others' thoughts and suggestions into your train of thought. It will make you a lot more wise and intelligent.
You are very talented, but talent alone can only take you this much. You've got to learn how to use your skills properly. Once you do, sky is the limit. Until then, you shoot yourself out of the game.
