Re: Avengers Endgame breaking box office records worldwide
I liked the part when Marvel trolled all the incels by having the girl power team up moment near the end. Fedora neckbeard having losers probably raged hard and are now writing to Marvel Studios protesting over it. The same group that rages over a little 18 year old girl being the killer of the Night King in Game of Thrones.
I'm not a Star Wars fan or expert but is this the same Star War universe that has been going on for 40 years? Have they been making films continuously for these past 40 years within that same universe like every year or at least every few years? The recent films aren't remakes or reboots?
If the answer to any of the above questions is NO...then your comparison is terrible.
Nice attempt to move the goal post but Star Wars is Star Wars. Characters like Mark Hamil were in the first movie back in 1977 and also in episode 7 and 8, which came out in 2017.
11 years isn't shit. Sorry.

Ok so the answer to those questions is NO. So it's not the same. I don't think you get it. Thats like saying all the Batman movies from Nolan to the new Justice League are linked. And all the ones before have been linked for 20+ years. That is not the 11 year span I'm talking about. You're an idiot for even making that argument
What part of continuity and reboots do you not get?
I don't consider the X-Men series from the early 2000s the same as the ones that rebooted later in the 2010s. Even if they shared some characters like the old Professor X being in Days of Future Past.
Again, I'm not a Star Wars expert so I don't know what happened there but if you can't identify reboots to a storyline then I don't know what to tell you. I guess in your world THIS X-Men Series has been going on for 19 years as well? :facepalm

Ok so first of all, episodes = movies?
2nd of all, so there have been 8 total movies? :lol
You're comparing that to the 22 movies made by Marvel?
Also, we are talking about the same production house right for Star Wars the past 40 years? Don't tell me the 1-3 and 4-6 and 7-9 are coming from total different sources.
I'd love to see how/why you think the 8 movies by Star Wars are greater than what Marvel has done with their 22. Most of what I heard is the 4-6 were great but everything else sucked. I know for a fact these days the Star War movies don't come CLOSE to what Marvel has done.
Yes, episode = movie. The first 6 were lucas films and lucus films was then sold to disney. No reboots with the same actors being in movies 40 years apart trumps 11 years of marvel at 22 movies. How many spider man reboots are out now? 3? :oldlol:

I hear that crap about 22 movies all the time, but aside from some background information provided you don't need to see any Marvel movie to follow the Avengers story. People act like it's a continuos story told, but it's just losely connected.
Somewhere down the road the MCU guys decided to do a hero name dropping flick and it blew up.

You can buy anything Starwars. From tissues to Dildos, from Yoda earrings to drones, etcetc.
It's the biggest merchandising movie franchise with a religious following. The Avengers are ok, but they're not on that level yet.

Re: Avengers Endgame breaking box office records worldwide
Well, Marvel ends this phase 1 with elite products and two of the more succesful movies of all time.
Meanwhile, SW has been destroying themselves with last 2 movies, specially episode 8. It seems episode 9 will be better, I hope because I like both sagas a lot.
P.S SW TV series has been strong but not nearly massive as MCU (clone wars, rebels)

Avengers Endgame has broken box office records in a bunch of countries so far, biggest box office opening here in MX, cinema I went to was packed, 9 of their 12 theaters were showing Endgame and were all sold out  Never saw anything like it before.

Remember when it released, Avatar had multiple digitally/audio enhanced versions. It was one of the first theater films that mastered a really good 3D version in sharp detail. It wasn't the usual $5-$7 upgrade from their non-3d base version, $7-$10 theaters hiked up Avatar tickets $30-$40 and everyone was forking it over

Re: Avengers Endgame breaking box office records worldwide
I wasn't wrong that it wouldn't be as good as Infinity War... I was right about that... but...
This movie has clearly done better than I thought it was going to. I was laughably dead ass wrong about that. Embarrassingly so.
I've never seen a movie do so well that didn't REALLY start promoting itself up everyone's ass until only a month before release. That's what truly threw me off. I guess it should be obvious in hindsight, given how many films over the years have tied in with this, no doubt about it. But still... it just seems to me like the promotional hype train would be in full force for about 6 months to a year out of most other truly huge movies before it... where this movie basically didn't start promoting until right after I made that thread.
Hell, there wasn't even a thread here for that movie until I made one 30 days out... there were far smaller films that made far less money that have had people making threads here many many many many months in advance... and yet somehow Endgame slipped under the radar entirely until it was go time.
That's what threw me off and why my prediction was so wildly inaccurate.
Looks like it might pass Avatar... should have taken me up on the bet if that ends up being the case, RMWG... oh well.

the movie didn't need promotion with the way Infinity War ended and how many people watched it. They also did a really good job of not giving anything away in trailers and in the little promotion there was, I watched all footage released prior to the movie and I was surprised by the directions the movie took and that definitely improved the experience of watching it. Too many films just give away the whole plot in trailers nowdays.

Re: Avengers Endgame breaking box office records worldwide
Checked Wikipedia today (5/3 2:32PM EST) It's above $1.7 billion and hasn't even officially began it's second weekend yet. It's going to go well over $2 billion in 10-11 days from it's April 26th release.

Re: Avengers Endgame breaking box office records worldwide
Through Friday Endgame has amassed $1.9 billion. After Saturday it's expected to be over the $2 billion mark easily. It's only on it's 7th or 8th day since release and it's already made more money than Infinity War did internationally.
