https://thejnotes.com/2019/10/25/game-thread-utah-jazz-face-major-challenge-second-game-lebron-lakers/
However, they’ll be in for a tougher task on Friday as they face off against LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers. Not only will it be a road game in the ever-dangerous Staples Center, but they’ll be going up against a Lakers squad with illustrious expectations that was shown up by their LA rivals in their first game.
Not sure the Lakers are better than the Thunder really. More hyped certainly
As such, you can bet that they’ll be anxious to bounce back with a big win in their first official home game (last game was a home contest for the Clippers, but it often felt like a home game for the Lakers). The Jazz will face several questions in the contest such as how will a smaller Jazz squad stop both LeBron James and Anthony Davis defensively? Can they find their shooting stroke that’s been lacking? Can Conley get in a groove? Can Donovan Mitchell replicate his efficient outing from the first game?
Matchups go both ways? Why is it no one ever seems to realize that?
Royce O’Neale got the start in Utah’s season opener and I imagine he will yet again, though it will be interesting to see if Quin Snyder opts to make a change to better contain the combination of James, Davis and JaVale McGee to matchup with their size. Considering how infrequently Snyder changed the starting lineup last year, though, I’d predict he’ll lean more towards in-game adjustments and less towards switching the initial starters too much.
Despite his size O'Neale is their best defender outside Gobert. They will have to chase him around too.
I’ve long been of the mindset that the Jazz are going to take about 25 games to get their feet underneath them, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see this be one of the early games they drop as they face a challenging opponent on the road.
Looked good in game 1 as far as I'm concerned and they've been a better road team under Snyder. If shots start falling good luck stopping them

Felt like that game was over in the first 10 minutes. Bojan kick started the offence driving, then 3's to Conley and O'Neale and it's a 15-2 run in about 90 seconds of play.
Donovan Mitchell, who has enjoyed an incredibly efficient start to the season, showed more of the same. His minutes were limited due to the large lead, and he had fewer touches because of the effectiveness of the entire offense, but 6-for-9 and a perfect 3-for-3 from three are additional signs that his game has improved.

Yea, the commentators mentioned something about not playing down to the level of the opponents this year. If they can keep that sort of thing up it does allow them to keep the starters a bit more fresh. None of them logged more than 26 minutes against the Kings.

Stars start camp tomorrow.
Should be their 3 picks this year Oni, Brantley and Wright Forman.
Their affiliate guys Morgan, Scott, Haas and Collinsworth.
Their 4 draft picks Occeus, Castlin, Mitchell and Toolson
They also got Pryor in the trade for Collinsworth.
Usually there's a couple guys that return from the year before. Haas and?
Appears they need some more size up front and on the wings. A lot of guards. But they do play even smaller in the Gleague and the Jazz are playing with one big so the Stars may too
The Jazz are deeper than Pelton gives them credit for, but a major injury to Conley, Mitchell, or Gobert, would certainly put a damper on the season. Conley is probably most susceptible to the injury bug at the ripe age of 32 and having played no more than 70 games any of the last 5 seasons. If Conley missed 18 games I would have a hard time picking the Jazz to be anything more than a middle of the pack team in the West, so I agree with Pelton there. But is there any way the Jazz could lighten Conley

17 guys. I think they have a 12 or 13 man roster during the season plus the 2 way guys I think so I'd guess their 4 draft picks, Benlevi and Hudson are fighting for the final slots. Benlevi is the one that sticks out on paper though it was at a small school. Filled the box score. Toolson is local and his dad played for the Jazz which could help his cause. Nelson-Ododa looks good on paper in the G-league last year though only 7 games. Blocks and boards. Fletcher had his moments with the Stars last year as a stretch 4 and was on their summer league team I believe. Pryor looks like a shooter with Gleague time last year.
Haas/Nelson-Ododa/Morgan
Brantley/Howard/Fletcher
Collinsworth/Blueitt/Benlevi
Oni/Pryor
Wright/Forman/Scott
Looks like a pretty good team maybe! I imagine Goss could be playing with them if Exum ever makes it back. Bradley could play here and there if both teams are in town and the Jazz have an off night just to get him some minutes and show his progress. Kidd could see some time at some point too but he's almost 30 so who knows. I guess they could all work out with them during camp as well. Exum might too who knows. Be nice to see him get some rehab time down there and prove himself before he plays for the Jazz actually

Bad shooting (Conley again can't get anything to go), bad turnovers, but still eeked out a win. Snyder looks like he might blow a gasket soon, but Bogdanovich is at least keeping the offense moving when Mitchell has a bad shooting night, which is something we didn't have before.
