That alone would push Elon out. He wants to power the Earth with renewable energy only. Solar power is his idea to power the world. He is opposed to fossil fuels, including natural gas
But TODAY most of his employees still use gasoline to get to work.
So without access to reliable energy right now, it’s gonna be pretty hard to run a Save The Planet business.

He's not "opposed" to natural gas.
He's using it right now and he has a lot of respect for the combustion engine and automobile because he's a reasonable guy.
He's not going to get his projects started without it.

Re: Can we please just split the country in two?
Yeah Elon is definitely known for how much he respects fossil fuels and the combustion engine :oldlol:
"Gas cars are so last-century! Passing fad. Like steam engines. They look cool in a museum."

"We're really playing a crazy game here with the atmosphere and the oceans," Musk said. "We're taking vast amounts of carbon from deep underground and putting this in the atmosphere — this is crazy. We should not do this. It's very dangerous."

"The bizarre thing is that obviously we're going to run out of oil in the long-term. There's only so much oil we can mine and burn," Musk said. "It's tautological. We must have a sustainable energy transport and infrastructure in the long term, so why run this crazy experiment where we take trillions of tons of carbon from underground and put it in the atmosphere and the oceans? This is an insane experiment. It's the dumbest experiment in human history."

“The fundamental issue with fossil fuels is that every use comes with a subsidy,” Musk said. “Every gasoline car on the road has a subsidy, and the right way to address that is with a carbon tax.”

“It is quite worrying, the future of the world,” he added. “We need to appeal to the people and educate them to sort of revolt against this and to fight the propaganda of the fossil fuel industry which is unrelenting and enormous.”

The fear, uncertainty & doubt propaganda campaign being pushed by those betting against Tesla has reached new heights. Tesla is affecting powerful vested interests. Big auto and oil companies aren’t known for their gentle behavior.

"It is not hard to imagine that many cities could become electric-only in the near future as they begin to witness the impact that ICE vehicles have on air quality"

Yeah Elon is definitely known for how much he respects fossil fuels and the combustion engine :oldlol:
His sentiments are all fair, I would imagine what Hawker means by “respect for it” is that... he uses it. Because if Musk didnt respect the value or efficacy of it currently, I cant imagine he would.
Frankly I have no clue how he gets around, presumably he doesnt have an electric plane, or how he keeps his office buildings heated and cooled etc. But I think it’s a safe bet he hasnt achieved fossil fuel independence in his own life and career.
If he has, then by all means, have him send that tech my way. Ill be happy to go fully green as soon as it’s practical. But I have a feeling he’s not quite ready and able yet to supply either segment of this hypothetically divided America with enough energy to meet its demands.
It would actually be interesting to hear his thoughts on this particular topic, not that he actually would ever discuss it publicly.

Re: Can we please just split the country in two?
TBH I wouldnt be surprised at all if Elon secretly had "respect" (whatever that means) for fossil fuels and the combustion engine... but if he does hold these views they are very much secret. I dont think the fact that he uses gas powered planes can be taken as evidence for his "respect" of fossil fuels... its not exactly like there are any currently any other options for quickly traveling over a long distance. I use comcast as an internet service provider because they are the only option available to me, that doesnt mean I "respect" them... comcast can go **** themselves imo.
Ultimately, Elon is a businessman who has a huge financial interest in disrupting the fossil fuel industry... its no surprise that his statements on the topic would reflect that.

I hear ya.
I like Elon and I meant respect for the engineering behind the cars at least. He does have an interest in disrupting the fossil fuel system but he pushed back on the COVID nonsense and the plebes (of which ISH have many) can't put the "you hate science" trope on him.

Re: Can we please just split the country in two?
Look, not everyone is perfectly R or perfectly D but I'd be willing to bet that most people would have a side that they'd prefer given a split.
So... anyways... let's just split. The dems can do their thing, and the repubs can do their thing. Our political system is a shit show and I'm just over it.
I know which side will thrive financially and socially regardless of where resources lie. It's just a cold hard fact. Deep in their hearts, everyone else knows too. Reality is a ruthless, heartless bitch. I will happily take the retards on the right with me, of which there are many, if it means I can be rid of the retards on the left. HAPPILY.
I understand both sides , and I laugh at where we are.... I have seen far more presidents than any of you.
Trump had an agenda , and that was to not unit our country like Ronald Reagan , but to divide it.
Cvd19 helped , in ways he never imagined , but the MN death was cream on the cake for him. Remember he is backed by KKK and white supremacists.
I am going to rid all aliens from our country , so he purposely divides families that have crossed the border.
The failure was his wall is only a 1/3 of the actual border .... (don't you think people that have walked 1500 miles , could not walk around the wall)
He is the biggest shyster probably this country has ever seen.
I loved it when he was backed by his coal tycoons for the 2016 election , and there sitting in the front seats , when he declares loosing emissions will
occur , because we don't have global warming and pollution.
Yep Make America Great AGAIN:banghead:
Our country has broken laws , and our government is using it to their advantage.
People backing Trump think they are rebellion to our society , they are fueling the crap that Trump has created.
Opening the country for the economy has failed...
Here is my take , if Trump would of closed the borders of our country , for 3-5 months and states would closed their borders
we might of been way ahead of the CVD19 crap....
Instead we have the highest spike in the world as we speak....
The government is supposed to protect and guide the people of this country...
Right now it looks like a free for all wrestling match on WWE.. :facepalm
I have always wished a third party would be as strong as the Republicans and Democrats....
Republicans support the rich
Democrats supposedly support the middle and poor.
Fact is they only support them selves and their soft money.
Sorry for the rant.

Re: Can we please just split the country in two?
I have no problem with splitting the country although the normal people would have to build a wall rather quickly to keep the batshit crazy leftist in their half. Given most of the workforce would be in the right leaning section the other side would implode rather quickly making a wall a VERY high priority.

Its as much a shit-show now as it was when Hamilton and Jefferson were lobbing virtual nukes at each other in competing partisan newspapers/pamphlets. Now there's just ads for boner pills and pickup trucks included with your political bullshit.

Re: Can we please just split the country in two?
Nice idea in theory but it wouldn't work. The liberal country would be broke and lawless, with a few heavily protected areas where the rich liberals live like overlords.
They would be clamoring to get into the conservative country. Think of how people leave California to move to Texas, Colorado, Arizona, etc, and multiply that x100.

The Democrats have for years relied on white urban liberals and urban minorities and completely overlooked rural America. Fact is there are a lot of rural folk who lean right simply because the right have been the only ones who pay any attention to them. Hillary wrote them off as stupid rednecks and look where that got her. Had she taken the time to listen to them and address their concerns she would have seen that a lot of these people are amenable to many democratic policies. There are a lot more minorities living in rural areas than ever before too. If Hillary had jus...no actually she still would've lost because she's a biitch, but Biden might make headway.

This is exactly where I'm at. It was a great night when Trump one (due to the alternative) and I was willing to give him a chance but even in 2015 I told my family that a Trump administration would scar this country psychologically with more hate and division but I had no idea how much worse it would be than I imagined.
It sucks beacuse this time, the alternative is some liver-spotted geriatric who doesn't know what day it is. All the money in this country - the resources, the education, the available platforms to be heard... and this is the best we got. I never even considered one day moving out of America but it has crossed my mind in the past month.
Trump is a disaster and although I recognize some of the good things his administration has gotten done, the net result is pretty awful considering the damage it has imposed on the general public, either intended or a result of the dumbass media.
I will say I do not want another 4 years of Trump. This whole year has shown me that the Trumps administration has been a big factor in setting us back. Whether a political tactic or just being a pure dumbass, the tweets, exaggerations, and tone deaf statements have me ready to boot this loudmouth out of office.
Trump nor Biden will be getting my presidential vote. What a farce. Americans are dumb and fall for the red-blue gang shit like a bunch of ignoramuses. Hook, Line and Sinker
