Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
The Lillaird return makes a major difference on paper, pretty sure that go and Giannis were the highest-scoring duo. He gives them a second scorer, an outside shooter, and maybe makes it easier for roleplayers offensively. On the flip side he's a defensive negative but Antetokuonmpo's support was so bad that it should result be worth it.
Also, I'm not sure if he was active since he's been out for a month until he was cleared. I think he might've had a month where he just sat around a did nothing but rest? Ramping up less than a week before the playoffs and asking Dame Time to arrive would be a lot for anyone to do coming back from a blood clot recovery that as the doctors put it, "We've never seen anything like this before" in terms of how fast he came back.
But even then I want him back. Lillard and Giannis have NOT played one playoff game together since he arrived there.
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
The conditioning is probably why he didn't come back immediately. He won't have his normal stamina but it's the playoffs so if there's no danger to his health then he should give them whatever he can.

Kuzma is up to 25 consecutive minutes total with a quintuple zero.

Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
You know that KG quote about leaving Minnesota for Boston? When he said his "only regret was that he didnt do it sooner".
I think Giannis when all is said and done, will think the same when he finally leaves.

You gotta take your career into your own hands as a superstar sometimes if you want the best legacy. KG would be ranked so much higher if he hadn't stuck around in Minnesota so long and found his way to a great team sooner.

I don't think he will. It's two different situations. KG didn't win a championship until he left. Giannis already got one. The whole reason KG made that comment in my mind is because he couldn't get into the Finals in Minnesota. Hell, he couldn't even make it past the first round until the 8th try.
KG lost in the first round 7 times in a row.

The Bucks starters Prince and Kuzma have played a combined 92 minutes in two games. In that 92 minutes they have combined to put up 18 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists. Damn.

Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
it is glaring lopez needs to retire... Turner has burned him two straight games .. and has affected the out come.
Bucks talk about pace , but can not match the young pacers.
Halibuton is easy to defend , but they are not putting prince on him , no idea why not.
His jumper starts at his chest level ...
If someone would play him tight , forget about their offense and concentrate on him , Indy would lose every game.
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
Bucks look swept.
Dame in Game 1 was yelling at Haliburton he was going to bust his ass.
In Game 2 he got 14 points on 4/14 shooting.
So far in Game 3? 1/7 for 2 points.
I was absurdly wrong about the Bucks.
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
Pacers up 57-47 at halftime of Game 3.
Pacers 23 of 50 from the floor, 7 of 24 threes
Bucks 18 of 48, 4 of 23, 7 of 10 threes
Nesmith 15 points, Siakam 13, Giannis 17, Gary Trent 13.
Bucks can’t hit threes and are shooting 37% on the half while Pacers are at 46%
Pacers have 18 assists to Bucks 9

Dame selling hard but role players coming alive. Hali is such a garbage defensive player keeps gambling which leads to open 3s for Milwaukee.
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
Crazy that the Bucks win with Dame going 2/12 for 7 points.
Trent Jr. with one of his best career games. 37 9/12 fom three.
Bucks scored 39 points to the Pacers 18 points in the 3rd quarter.
Bucks responded well in the 2nd half.

I hope Lillard didn't just rupture his Achilles...
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
Dame still in the locker room.
It was a no contact injury.
He had to be carried off of the court and couldn't put pressure on his left foot.
When he was on the ground he was grabbing at the back of his ankle where the Achilles is.
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
Dame out the rest of the game. They're not classifying the injury except lower left ankle injury.
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
Chris Haynes Bucks fear it's a torn Achilles. Dame gonna miss a chuck of next season if it is.
For comparison Kobe tore his on April 12th then returned on December 8th.
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
Poor dame. Another guard who's also prone to injury. :ohwell:
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
Torn Achilles for a player Lillaird's size that needs quickness badly to score and is 34 years old would be catastrophic. Fair chance he never plays like a star again. After he tore Achilles Kobe was done and he was 6'7.
-
Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
Sad for him. At least they won the cup last year, if that's something considered worthy over winning nothing at all.

Pacers might be the team to beat out East. The analysts think the Bucks have a chance now so that means they don't.

Problem with Indy is they don't have THAT guy. They have a bunch of solid dudes but no real star to rely on every game. Teams like that usually do not win a title unless you're elite on both ends like the Celtics, and Tatum at least can play like a superstar in some big spots. Hali is not reliable. I think they can beat the Celtics or the Cavs but I wouldn't count on it. They're still prone to doing dumb shit in crunch time.

I agree. The last team to win a championship with that type of team setup was 2004 Pistons. You could maybe argue the 2014 Spurs. Kawhi was super young and unproven still. He was still 22 years old and only had averaged not even 13PPG for the regular season. Only 14 PPG in the Finals.

Thing is those teams were elite defensively. Not the case with Indiana. I think they can still win if they have better 3PT luck but I'd expect the teams with better closers and a better defense to come out on top.

Re: (4) Pacers vs. (5) Bucks First Round Playoff Series Thread
this series signals lopez is done. bucks need a big that defends weak side , rebounds like a crazy man and has a jump hook.
Kevin porter will take over , but still really need a SG that defends and has a three point shot... there is still hope for giannis and a second ring.

Game 5, 6:00 EST, NBA TV
Hoping the Bucks can extend the series a little bit so the Cavs can have a couple more days of rest. Giannis is going to have to put up 40-50 points when his only help is Trent Jr. and Porter Jr.

Kuzma with his best game of the series in this game so far.
2 minutes, 1/1 FG, 2 points, +2
