Two speeding tickets. Driving over 100 mph in a 60 zone is one of them, that is pretty reckless behavior and news worthy.
One citation was for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone in Strongsville, OH. The other was for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone in Brunswick Hills, OH.
Details are very different but both were drunk and killed someone. He's been there 5 years now, he tried to appeal it last year but got denied. He's my first cousin, spend lots of time with him and his brothers as kids. Kinda drifted apart as we got older, dude was always getting in trouble and was pretty much a hoodlum. My uncle (mom's brother) actually shot his Dad in the neck when I was a little ass kid because he was beating my aunt.
It’s news we will forget next week. The only people who will hold on to it are the ones looking or waiting for Sanders to fail. It’s people who have a preconceived perception of him already. Any negative news helps that (for them).
The details are what matters to me when determining a persons sentence in a similar situation where drunk driving and innocent person losing their life is involved. 5 years? So does he have to do 15 before being eligible for parole? Curious how much time he will actually have to serve. Did he see his dad get shot by your uncle? Can’t blame uncle for shooting. Not that I would have but I’m not judging either. Beating up a sister you should expect a brother to react physically if not violently.

Yes. He has to do 15 before he is eligible for parole. He didn’t witness his Dad getting shot but he was inside the house, but this happened when he was super young, he doesn’t remember the incident. Another cousin of mine who is way older than me confessed to me years ago that he was the one who supplied the gun to my Uncle.
None of my family members liked his Dad. :lol

Re: NFL Season 2025
Apparently the night he got pulled over doing 101mph a woman named Jasmine Hammond was going 92MPH with him in her own vehicle. Either following him or trying to race him.
In the bodycam footage the officer gives him a $250 ticket, but cuts her a break for "only" going 32 over not ticketing her. :oldlol:

Imagine hearing all this unprofessional mumbo jumbo only to have a cop allow another driving clearly speeding a break. What a professional that officer is. Thank you for your service. Very weird to know the name of the other driver. Stalker vibes.

He's one of the 2-3 best defensive players in the game and with something that short-term it makes sense.

ESPN and the NFL are close to a deal that would make programming available in ESPN's direct-to-consumer product this fall, sources tell @AndrewMarchand.
The "Next Era” ESPN app could include the Red Zone Channel, NFL Network and more for $29.99 per month.
https://x.com/TheAthletic/status/1947978441422237888?s=19
From The Athletic:
What could be in the deal is the Red Zone Channel, NFL Network, seven regular-season games that appear on NFL Network, enhanced betting and fantasy league possibilities. There may be more.
Red Zone is the Sunday afternoon show that takes viewers inside all the stadiums when teams are threatening to score.

The New York Jets are holding their breath after their new quarterback was injured in training camp Thursday, as Justin Fields was carted off the field after sustaining what is being reported as a lower leg injury.
According to The Athletic, Fields limped to the sideline after running one play of 11-on-11 drills. He was then evaluated by trainers off to the side and carted inside the team facilities.

4 QBs taken in the first 15 picks in 2021 and all of them have been underwhelming. I don't even know which team Zach Wilson currently plays for, Lance is like a 3rd string :lol
-
Re: NFL Season 2025
"What makes 2025 so important for Sanders is the clear path to opportunity. There's no entrenched starter ahead of him on the depth chart between Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and rookie third-round pick Dillon Gabriel, all of whom will be competing with Sanders for roster spots in camp. A year from now, with two first-round picks in a draft expected to have a much better quarterback class and after what could be a frustrating season for Cleveland, general manager Andrew Berry will be in position to draft a premium passer, which would block everyone else's path to the starting opportunity.
There's no better time than now for Sanders to establish himself in a meaningful role. He isn't even guaranteed to make the 53-man roster, given that teams rarely carry four quarterbacks on a weekly basis, likely pitting him against Pickett (whose $2.6 million salary is fully guaranteed) for a roster spot. If he does make the roster, the best-case scenario would see him get an opportunity to start by midseason and hold on to it for the rest of the season. If he doesn't, he might realistically be looking at a trip to the CFL, where the Toronto Argonauts hold his negotiating rights.

For the hype he was getting Lawrence has been a massive disappointment, a historically underwhelming class of QB's.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields was carted off the practice field Thursday morning with a toe injury on his right foot.
A source told ESPN that the injury is not considered significant and that the quarterback should not be sidelined for long. Jets coach Aaron Glenn said after practice that he did not yet know the severity of Fields' injury.

Such a lazy take on Trey Lance as a football prospect. Plenty of 1-AA players that made it to the NFL first of all. So basically you’re telling me you don’t take any athlete seriously from 1-AA. Which is crazy. Then you mention a Covid season? Not many were playing. So how is he knocked for that? My point is you didn’t give much of a breakdown to why you legitimately thought Trey Lance wouldn’t be good in the NFL. It was a very subpar take. Almost like throwing shyt against a wall hoping it stuck.
Measurables and athleticism for an NFL QB?
Accuracy and footwork in the pocket?
Ability to read defenses?
Work ethic?
Maybe I’m being harsh on you like you were Trey. And you have notes from what you actually saw (or didn’t see translating into the NFL) that you care to share. I’ll give that grace.

Re: NFL Season 2025
Despite comments by former coach Eric Mangini suggesting the opposite, Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam denied Tuesday that he forced general manager Andrew Berry to draft quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of this past spring's Draft. Haslam's comments came in a response to a reporter's question concerning a narrative that he influenced the Browns' selection of Sanders following his freefall to the fifth round of the Draft.
Mangini popularized the idea that Haslam made the call to draft Sanders. He suggested that such occurred during an appearance on FS1's First Things First just after the Draft in April. In supporting his claim, Mangini cited meddling by Haslam that led to the Browns' ill-fated decision to take another mercurial star college quarterback, Johnny Manziel, in the 2014 Draft.
Speaking to reporters for the first time since the Draft, Haslam referred a question about why the Browns drafted Sanders to Berry, only offering that they thought he was "good value" at the No. 146 pick, before a more detailed response on the idea that he had influenced the pick.
"We have good process, okay? And if you'd have told me Friday night driving home 'Y'all are gonna pick Shedeur,' I would've said that's not happening," Haslam said. "But we had a conversation early that morning, and then we had a conversation later that day, I think we had the right people involved in the conversation. At the end of the day, that's Andrew Berry's call. Andrew made the call to pick Shedeur, just like who's gonna start or what play we're gonna call is (coach Kevin Stefanski's) call. But that's Andrew's call, he made the call."
In spite of his star power as the son of Deion Sanders and projections as perhaps the top quarterback in this year's Draft, Shedeur Sanders plummeted all the way to the fifth round of the Draft after his personality and lack of professionalism in the pre-Draft process reportedly turned off teams. That included insinuations that Sanders had deliberated thrown his interviews with teams he did not want to be drafted by. Sanders' slide finally ended when the Browns -- despite having already drafted another quarterback in Dillon Gabriel-- chose him with the No. 146 overall pick.

Re: NFL Season 2025
The three-time All-Pro is entering the final year of his rookie contract and wants to become one of the highest-paid players in NFL history, but Parsons and the Cowboys have been unable to strike a deal after months of discussions.
"Yes I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America's team once again. The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately I no longer want to be here," Parsons wrote on social media. "I no longer want to be held to closed-door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me.

I'm totally neutral on Sanders but if he were the potential franchise QB of my favorite team, I would be alarmed that he was speeding twice in such a short span of time. Basing his decision making skills on speeding tickets? Cmon man. We have to stop exaggerating silly things like this. Guess who else was speeding? His female friend. Guess what the officer did? Let her go. No judgement on the chick or the officer they enforced the law (selectively). How ridiculous is this? He performs in his first preseason start. Crickets. He gets a speeding ticket?
