Re: 2025 NBA Free Agency Discussion
This would be his first real contract at 28 years old looking for what might be a final payday. I would hate this if I were a Jazz fan, especially considering they are finally about to have flexibility once Collins, Sexton and Clarkson expire.
This has to be a fake report to gain negotiation leverage.
I dont hate having vets with kids. Ideally bum and george are gone. Collier, jerome, sexton and their 1st rounder at guard

If they just want a good solid vet, bring back Alec Burks for a 1 yr low money deal. Don't give a multi-year 8-figure deal to a role player coming off 1 good career year.

Young vet in his prime. As long as they dont overpay it makes sense. They have money. Got to pay someone. Becomes another asset. Loved alec burks. Too bad cotm wasnt a fan

That sounds like a Utah Jazz move for sure. This will be a THT-like bad contract as soon as the ink dries.

Sexton and a 2031 2nd traded to Hornets for Nurkic

Good question. One of my favorite players for a bum. Tanking sucks

I get it that maybe they want to develop Clayton, Luis Jr., etc, and maybe they want to do good by Sexton by trading him somewhere he can get minutes, but somebody please explain why they included a 2nd round pick for a guy who is disgruntled, older, and makes slightly more money?
I mean, surely Kessler is still in the rotation ahead of Nurkic, right?
-
Re: 2025 NBA Free Agency Discussion
Kessler will start unless traded. Filiposki will probably get the backup minutes. Nurkic is an rxpiring contract. The 2nd rounder certainly nakes no sense. Im sure they have had better offers the past two years that dannt turned down. Not a fan of his son so far

Re: 2025 NBA Free Agency Discussion
I can’t explain the trade. I mean Sexton is in a contract year so this would be a rental if Hornets have no interest in giving him a long term deal.
This move opens up minutes. Ace is smiling.

Re: 2025 NBA Free Agency Discussion
If sexton costs a pick what do they have to give for someone to take The Bum? :(

Sexton is like a cheaper, younger, better defensive version of Rozier, and they will likely use Sexton in the same role that they used to play him in Charlotte.
The most crazy thing here is Sexton has something to play for in a contract year, vs Nurkic is done getting big contracts from here in out and is more likely to be a distraction if he's not getting minutes.
Bad trade for Utah.

Nurkic contract year too. Plating to stay in league

I don't see how Nurkic gets more than the tax payer MLE from here on out. And I think that's the best case scenario given his attitude.
Sexton is still in the mix for an 8 figure yearly contract.
-
Re: 2025 NBA Free Agency Discussion
I completely don't understand the Sexton trade. He's probably one of the most underrated offensive players in the league and is a 50/40/80 threat every year and that's all you can get for him? He's consistently put up 18/3/4 on 48/40/84 splits the last three years on not even 30 minutes of playing time in each of those seasons. His best offensive season was in Cleveland at almost 25PPG just four years ago.
-
Re: 2025 NBA Free Agency Discussion
He also played well in the postseason, averaging 11.7 points and 3.6 assists on 50% shooting, including 46.7% from three. 10 mins ago – via Responsible Gaming
8.0 PPG and 2.6 assists on 30% shooting, including 25% from three against the Pacers though.
Also those postseason percentages are completely wrong from "Responsible Gaming". He didn't do 50/46.7 for the postseason. It was 40.2/38.9. He played really well up until the Pacers series.

Better offensive player now. Supposedly minnesota wanted him. Probably preferred the expiring contract over tcontracts they didnt want past this season

Shams Charania: The Utah Jazz are waiving forward Johnny Juzang, making him a free agent, sources tell ESPN. The 24-year-old started 18 games and averaged 8 points in 20 minutes last season, shooting 38% from 3, and will receive interest from teams. 34 mins ago – via x.com

Probably because DFS is not staying with the Lakers, so they have the MLE regardless of what James does.
Him declining it and not taking a 1 + 1 probably means that he's seriously considering retirement. I doubt he's thinking of going anywhere else at this point in his career. I could see MAYBE him going back to Cleveland for his last year so he can retire as a Cav.

NBA and some fans gave Sixers Sam Hinkie shyt for tanking. And Utah is doing it right in front of our eyes. In Hinkie I will always trust.

He's not just done, he's well done and left on the stove to get cold. But he's likely a good locker room mentor.

That would require not only a buyout. It would also require the Cavs to drop below the 2nd apron since they can't sign him once he's bought out.
