Exactly. Hed be Rudy Gobert. :lol
Which is still nice... but most athletic ever? Not even close. Its an absurd proposition.
Re: Wembanyama is easily the most athletic player in league history but will he win?
Depends on how you define athleticism and what components of it you value more than others.
Who's more athletic? A 280-pound man with poor lateral movement, a 4.40 forty, and a 40" vertical or a 225-pound man with exceptional lateral movement, a 4.40 forty, and 40" vertical? Or Wemby: a 7-foot-5-inch, 245-pound man with unparalleled coordination, flexibility, quickness, and balance for someone that tall.

This is exactly the point. It's something you can't definitively determine from a measurement standpoint. You have to just "know" it when you see it and take everything into account. Especially with the full understanding that the taller you get the exponentially less likely it is that you can move like Wemby moves, as an example.

Same with shaq. How many guys his size could move like that and not have their body break down?

You are right. I never said Shaq wasn't elite athletically. Prior to Wembanyama I'd probably go with Shaq overall all time. Vertical, power, top speed, spin quickness.
But Victor's dexterity, agility, speed and coordination surpasses O'Neal particularly when you understand that Wembanyama is way taller than Shaq. He can physically move with WAY more control than Shaq could and he's ****ing half a foot taller! It's insane!!!

Re: Wembanyama is easily the most athletic player in league history but will he win?
RAS score takes all that into account for the NFL Combine.
Wemby athletic profile from watching him is
32 to 34 inch vertical which is not elite. It's likely average to below average for NBA standards
Strength - I doubt he could get 225 off the bar 5 times. He doesn't play strong either.
Agility is great for someone HIS size. As good as we've ever seen, but he's not more agile than people in the 6'10 range like Bam. There are plenty and plenty of players more agile than him.
Speed is excellent due to his stride length.
Quickness is great.
Overall his chart would have great peaks but a couple low to average values as well.
Michael Jordan's RAS would be too notch in everything. Even strength, I remember Horry talking about how strong he was and it surprised him. Anthony Edwards would have a similar web. Lebron obviously would have that too.
Shaqs RAS score would be the best of all time because he was doing that at 300+ pounds. Orlando Shaq.

Re: Wembanyama is easily the most athletic player in league history but will he win?
Not sure vertical is too inportant for him. Hes probably better off staying on The ground for the most part
-
Re: Wembanyama is easily the most athletic player in league history but will he win?
Athleticism is basically being able to apply extreme violent force either towards the ground to propel yourself forward or sideways or upward or against an opponent directly. Wemby is mostly shooting over the top or catching lobs he doesn't even have to jump for. :lol Hes in a different category. Its skill and length. Super Durant.

It's important when talking about athleticism.
Not important when talking about Wemby the basketball player. Although having a 40+ inch vert would put his head a foot above rim level consistently which would be scary on any lob or finish in traffic.

Re: Wembanyama is easily the most athletic player in league history but will he win?
Apparently he’s 7’5” without shoes now. His wingspan could easily be something stupid like 8’4”.
If you are coordinated with those measurements you are an insane athlete.

Wembanyama's not even close to the most athletic player in league history. Not top ten.
But Axe is unquestionably the biggest loser in history. :lol
Stinky biatch.

Re: Wembanyama is easily the most athletic player in league history but will he win?
At almost 87 years old, Tom Meschery is the last survivor of the 1961-1962 Warriors. It was during this unbridled season that his teammate and friend, Wilt Chamberlain (50.4 points and 25.7 rebounds on average alone that year), achieved the greatest offensive performance in NBA history by scoring 100 points against the Knicks on March 2, 1962, in Hershey. In the new story of L'Équipe explores, which tells the last secrets of this anthology performance, Meschery, very close to Chamberlain, reveals that the pivot not only suffered from back pain that evening, but also had a hangover. "He often told me that he had partied all night the day before the 100-point game, that he had gone home at eight in the morning," says Meschery. "Wilt was the king of exaggeration, but on this, I believe him. He was able to dance until the early hours, sleep for an hour, and then score 50 points. He only ate hot dogs and burgers, but he was never out of shape. He was a phenomenon."

Genetics are crazy. Wilt had GOAT tier. A God life human existence you have to wonder what constellation he spawned from.

He was probably that two years ago, at least 7'4. There's only so much they can bullshit about his height when he's clearly been taller than other 7'3-7'4 players since his rookie year.

He's 7'7". He's lying about it because he's insecure about being that tall and because he wanted to be known for his skills and not his height. We've seen it before with Kevin Garnett and Kevin Durant and probably numerous others in league history that I don't know about.

Also beyond the gushing about how good this guy is already, * so far * he seems extremely humble, well spoken and mature beyond his years. I hope he keeps it up because in a league full of coddled prima Donna bitches, it makes him very easy to root for.

In shoes. I don't know barefoot. Maybe he's 7'7" barefoot and 7'8" with shoes. We aren't likely to ever get a completely honest answer but he's definitely above 7'5".
What if he has a growing problem? He's like 21 right? The growing should stop now I think if he doesn't have gigantism.
