The differences? The old Amare would get up there almost every time he jumped. He actually scared people, and he'd dunk it as hard as he could. He *tried* to dunk it every single time. He had a good jumper, but his main offense came from dunks and adjusted shots inside the paint (created by himself and by others). He'd usually try to get right at the rim rather than shoot a few feet away from it.
The new Amare doesn't jump as high all the time. He's had quite a few layups which would have been dunks a few years ago. He's got some more offensive moves. I think he's gotten better at creating his own shot. He doesn't try to dunk every time, and he uses the glass a fair bit on his adjusted shots. Often he'll be isolated, drive into the paint, jump, hang until he's squared up and balanced with the rim, and then release a short jumpshot.
His jumpshot, which was obviously there in 05, has definitely improved. Even though he weighs the same, his upper body looks smaller.
